too real!
I found this book to have a bit of a haunting beauty. It's a sad story that's not without warmth and hope as Ali Smith's style and rhythm contains just the right amount of humor in the right places and is filled with little observations about people.
Starting a new book today. I don't know anything about the author, the storyline, or what I'm getting into really, but I am intrigued by the epigraph (pictured).
I really don‘t have the words to describe how much I love Ali Smith. ❤️ Every one of her books is such a perfect gem and this one is no exception. I think it‘s one of the most beautiful books I‘ve ever read. The section written from the perspective of the sister was my favorite, but I loved it all so much.

Day 6
Seven books that made a deep impression and changed me.
Tagging @Nute if you want to play.
We meet Sara, Elsbeth, Lisa and Penny. Four women with nothing in common except Hotel Global, and a tragic incident that happened there. A talented swimmer, a receptionist, a beggar and a journalist. Together they show different aspects of the modern urban life.
This book sounds super interesting since I work at a hotel!
I don't even know what it's about, but count me in.
I mean...
I leave for New Orleans tomorrow to celebrate my 10 year college reunion!🍹🎷📿 And I‘m only bringing #ONE book ... this is a trip where I can say confidently that I don‘t think much reading will be done! 💃🏻

Well, Ali Smith, here we are again. It's over and I'm weeping. I don't know how you do it, how you create these characters and recreate the fleeting, tangential but oh-so-important encounters of everyday life. I feel bereft with the loss of them, which is fitting because this is all about grief and loss and losing yourself and others. But as ever there's a lightness of touch and a hope that makes it sparkle and ache. You're my hero.
Well. That's an image 😝
I'll be seeing Ali Smith at the weekend so it seemed a perfect time to pick something from her back catalogue 🙌❤
The first ghostly narrator has a very memorable #SoulMeetsBody moment. Although I wouldn't have picked this for #Obsession , on further reflection, the last narrator (sister of the first) really shows grief to be a form of obsession- every single thought you have seems to be about the person you lost. #junetunz @Cinfhen
Just booked in to see Ali Smith at Charing Cross library talking about the importance of libraries and how to help save them! 💙💚💙💚 can't wait! 🙂🙂
Lovely hotel, all the rooms have photos of famous Glasgow landmarks This tardis is topped with a Tunnocks Tea Cake, a popular chocolate and mallow cake 😍

Ali Smith got a lot of attention for her latest, How To Be Both, but you should check this one out too for #underhypedbooks . It's silly and heartbreaking and one of my favorites. #augustofpages #bookphotochallenge
TBR Tuesday. Sigh.
