Not all traditions are good...
My New Year‘s Eve tradition for the last few years and for the foreseeable future...champagne and the movie New Year‘s Eve! #sharedholidaytradition #wintergames #teamnutcracker 21pts
One tradition when we celebrate with my parents is for my daughters to find the pickle ornaments. Of course, when they do, they each get a prize! #sharedholidaytradition #teamnutcracker #wintergames 21pts
My parents distributing pj gifts! My sister and I got rudolph onesies and the youngest got a camo wolf onesie. There are other pictures we took with our dog and his sweater that I may post later!

I‘ll post pics later, but in my house, the tradition is that me and my sisters open a single gift on Christmas Eve. It‘s always pajamas that we change into and then take pictures with our dog (dogs in the past) and hanging up our stockings. Then, me and my two sisters have a sleepover in my room.

My Christmas tradition is new jammies and opening one present on Christmas Eve. #holidayread #wintergames #elfies @Bookwormjillk @Clwojick @StayCurious
I've got a sweet helper today as we make our family's traditional butter cookies. We'll take them to Grammy's house tomorrow for all the grandkids to decorate on Xmas Eve. They'll be lucky to last through Xmas day! #WinterGames #TMSkellington @Crimson613 @StayCurious @Clwojick #FestiveTradition

Getting my Angel Tree donation ready to drop off. I‘ll get a couple of toys on my way to add to it. Giving to a local Angel is a #holidaytradition!

Just because “it‘s always been done this way” doesn‘t make it right to exploit others

I love how expertly Kiely writes from both protagonist's perspectives. This YA novel has a setting rooted deeply in the patriarchal society of an elite bording school. The story challenges that at every turn, highlighting the injustices of white, male, hetero privileged. An easy one to recommend.
We have swapped out stockings this year in favour of trying the Icelandic tradition ... four adults all munching chocolate and reading with classic fm carols quietly playing in the background. Perfection!
Oof, this is a heavy read. Kiely tackles sexism, classism, & the importance of creating a culture of consent. He doesn‘t shy away from confronting the “norms” that create a harmful environment for marginalized people & especially women. The characters were engaging, especially Bax, a teddy bear you just want to hug. Jules‘s struggles were described believably, without over-emphasis or romanticization. A strong rendering of an important issue. ★★★½
#currentlyreading | girl I guess? Don‘t normally do this sort of book so we‘ll see!
I found this book a mixed bag. The topic of young rich white men getting away with sexual assault is timely and well handled. The male characters were believable but I felt the female characters hit the wrong notes at times. Still a good read though. Rating: 4 🌟
Thanks to NetGalley and publishers, Penguin Random House UK, Children‘s, for the opportunity to review an ARC.
I wanted to love this so badly but the writing was awful and unclear, the characters were so cliche it made me want to vomit, and it was soooo un realistic. I only made it 125 pages when I finally gave up.
This is a compelling young adult novel that looks at rape culture, the power of privilege and misogyny. It focusses on two students at a posh private school where their traditions benefit a select few and damage many others. It‘s well written and an important topic. Full review is up on my blog now! I would be so happy if you felt like reading it. 😊

My #RocTBF2018 book haul. I was one of BK‘s author assistants. He‘s a great guy! Looking forward to reading Tradition.
I really struggled with this book. I felt that I couldn‘t empathise with any of the characters at all. I know it‘s an important subject, and also that I may not be the target audience, but still, I just didn‘t connect at all. This doesn‘t happen often to me!!

I don't usually read YA and I admit I was sceptical, but this was a sensitively written page turner which explores some difficult issues without becoming preachy or unsuitable for its audience. The character of Jules was a bit grating at times (although true to life) but the male perspective, Bax, who tries always to do the right thing was a great character. A fantastic delivery of a crucial message.
On #Pigeonhole just starting this live read. Apparently, this is going to explore rape culture. So far the fpn is kind of reminding me a bit too much of Twilight (no offense intended, I am just not a big lover of mopey fpn teenage novels).
