It's Not Easy Being Green
It's Not Easy Being Green: And Other Things to Consider | Jim Henson
11 posts | 7 read | 4 to read
A collection of wise and witty quotes from and inspired by Jim Henson similar in format to The World According to Mister Rogers. "When I was young, it was my ambition to be one of the people who made a difference in this world. My hope is to leave the world a little better for my having been there. It's a wonderful life and I love it." Jim Henson "Yeah, well, I've got a dream too. But it's about singing and dancing and making people happy. That's the kind of dream that gets better the more people you share it with. And, well, I've found a whole bunch of friends who have the same dream. And, it kind of makes us like a family." “Reading by Candlelight” for #BookishMonopoly is quite a sensory experience! Seeing the pages in soft light, hearing the flicker of the flame, feeling the crisp pages & smelling the fragrant candle.🕯️I didn‘t realize reading by candlelight could be so calming & peaceful, especially with inspiring stories & quotes by Jim Henson & friends.
Fave candle scent: Market Square: a sweet blend of gardenia and tuberose.

Jari-chan Oh wow, so beautiful 😍🕯️ 6mo
MemoirsForMe Next time, I must choose a classic that used to be read back in its time by candlelight. 6mo
MemoirsForMe @Jari-chan I‘ll be investing in more reading candles! 😉 6mo

It‘s time for this month‘s #BookishMonopoly! I rolled a nine again and landed on “Read By Candlelight.” Not sure where I found this prompt! 🤓📖🕯️I thought I‘d go with more wisdom from Jim Henson and The Muppets. It‘s been on my TBR for awhile. Thanks again to @AkashaVampie for inspiring me to take on this challenge and to fellow player @Jari-chan
Now I need to search around for some candles!

AkashaVampie Oh fun... and u are so welcome. I love to inspire people to read. Also, let me know what scent u use for the candle. Hope it smells wonderful. 6mo
Jari-chan What a lovely prompt! Let us know how it's going 😀❤️🕯️ 6mo
MemoirsForMe @AkashaVampie I just found one with a gardenia scent. I may start with that and then maybe try some different ones. 6mo
MemoirsForMe @Jari-chan Thx! Will keep you posted. Maybe I should have picked a dusty old classic written before there was electricity. 🤓✒️📜 6mo
Jari-chan @UwannaPublishme Oh, that would've been so fitting! 🤭 6mo

#greenbooks for #30junebooks - an easy prompt when your shelves are sorted by color 🌈

@howjessreads

CoffeeNBooks Great picture! 🐸 5y
StayCurious Sorted by colour? How interesting- but there‘s a part of me that wonders how you remember what colour a book is when you‘re looking for it 🤔 love the picture btw 5y
BooknerdsLife Cute pic! 😆💚 5y

SenatorMothma @StayCurious I had the same concern! But I recently cut down my book collection quite a bit, and have a pretty visual memory, so it's not a big problem for me and it looks nice 😊 thanks! 5y
marleed I love this photo! 5y

#5forDinner Dead Authors Society:

- Madeleine L'Engle
- Jim Henson
(He wrote screenplays! You let me have this!)
- Douglas Adams
- J. R. R. "Johnny" Tolkien
- C. S. "Jack" Lewis

Ray Bradbury, I'm terribly sorry but Tolkien and Lewis are a package deal in my head.

I will also apologize in advance to ol' Jack Lewis because I've read many times that he couldn't abide any type of spice on his food* and I will be serving tacos.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk *"If it ain't bland, it ain't British" is something he never ever said but probably thought. 7y
Texreader Great group! 7y
merelybookish Henson is totally legit! 7y

Soubhiville That's a fun party! 7y
saresmoore I don‘t think I can handle this. It‘s too much. First of all, Great Aunt Maddie is going to love having tacos. Secondly, JIM HENSON?!?! I‘m speechless. Thirdly, you win. 7y
LitLogophile What a lovely dinner this would be! 7y
Bradleygirl Oh man. 😍😍😍 7y
SpeculativeFemale I would totally crash that dinner party. You couldn't keep me out! LOL 7y
DGRachel You can include Jim Henson as long as I'm invited, too. 😍 7y
DivaDiane Oh, can I come?!? I love all of them! If I'd done a dead author's dinner, I would've chosen at least 4 of the 5. 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @saresmoore Thanks! Also, like for real your Great Aunt Maddie, or like how Stephen King is everyone's Uncle Stevie? < Sorry if silly question. 7y
saresmoore Not a silly question. I should probably get in the habit of clarifying because you‘re not the first to ask! She‘s my spiritual aunt, but no blood relation. 🙂 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @saresmoore I like and understand this and may now start calling C. S. Lewis "Great Uncle Jack". 7y
saresmoore My love for Great Uncle Jack also runs deep. I audited a course on his life & theology while my husband was at Fuller Seminary...mostly just as an excuse to buy the books! Meanwhile, I own & haven‘t read this one yet, but it looks pretty fascinating: 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @saresmoore Stacked! Always been fascinated by the Inklings. Their pub hangout in Oxford was my literary Mecca when I visited England. 7y
saresmoore How cool! That pilgrimage is on my bucket list for sure. 7y
