Amazing! Really enjoyed. Louise Erdrich tells great stories, and the deft weaving of different people and places and eras was brilliantly done. Great historical fiction

This is a beautifully written story full of sorrow, hope, love, lost chances, second chances, secrets, & unexpected blessings. Erdrich weaves a story of the interconnected lives of Fidelis, a butcher who emigrated from Germany with his wife and son, and the people they meet in Argus, North Dakota.

On a lighter note, I got all these and about a dozen picture books for the kids for $8 at our library book sale earlier in the week! Unbroken is going in to work with me since I have a teacher who teaches it, but I‘m really excited for the rest!
@CareBear I just received your parcel. Thank you so much for this amazing book and such a cute card ❤️😘 I'll be writing you soon!

Book Club brunch this morning 😍.
We read this beautiful novel by Louise Erdrich, and everyone gave it a 9 - very high praise, and well-deserved. Erdrich writes richly crafted stories and her characters feel so real and this book is no different. She has created a stunning portrait of a small midwestern town, studded with memorable characters who will both break your heart and make it soar. Just read it. I‘m amazed at Erdrich‘s capabilities.
Happy Friday! We had some take out and I am hoping to really get closer to finishing this book. Book Club is Sunday 😬!
Leftover carnitas means sheet pan nachos! This book is incredible. I really got to sink into it today and the writing is just masterful. Louise Erdrich tells a story so well-woven and rich, every detail exquisite. Really loving it.
Earlier lunch + book. Love my Wednesdays 💕.
Pasta dinner tonight and my book club pick. YUM!!
Today I attended the German-American Society's Oktoberfest in Portland, Oregon. Traditional dancing, music, and really good food! 💛❤️🖤 Almost bought a cookbook, but then I remembered I don't cook anymore!
Some #startswithMNO titles from my TBR bookcase. #jubilantjuly
I know she has been a popular choice today but I love Louise Erdrich. #indigenousauthors #junebookbugs
I didn't realize until I started reading today's posts, that Louise Erdrich fits the #indigenousauthors prompt. This book is on my TBR for #LitsyAtoZ, and it's one I'm looking forward to.
#BookNDinner! #FamilyRecipe edition! I made an aMAZing meal for @BookBabe tonight: seared boneless center-cut pork chops with cream of mushroom soup, simmering in the crock pot for 6 hours; sautéed buttered egg noodles; carmelized onions & spices; & to drink, Beringer Chenin Blanc 2015. With candles & classical piano Christmas music in the background. This has been another presentation of: #MrBookBookBabeKitchen. Happy reads & happy eats! ???
#BookNDinner! Another #Plated edition. Thank you Plated for the scrumptious free meal 😊! Accompaniment tonight: seared pork chops with mushroom, squash, and pea gratin, and Sam Adams 20 Pounds of Pumpkin Ale. MMMMmmmm 😋! This has been another presentation of: #MrBookBookBabeKitchen. Happy reads & happy eats 😎👌🏻!
#LibraryHaul! I'm checking this puppy out before my shift ends tonight. C'mon, you can't go wrong with a title like this one's. And it's Louise Erdrich, heeelllo! The early 20th-Century immigrant experience imagined. And just look at that cover! Yep, I'm tackling this one hopefully before the year's out 😁👍🏻! Anyone read this yet?
While I would say many of Louise Erdrich's books are arguably too rural or too urban to fall into a small town setting, she does occasionally feature Argus, North Dakota, as a locatiob for her complex web of characters. I have been working on her books for the past decade, reading in loosely chronological order of publication. Winter is my favorite time of year to read her, and honestly that's what I look forward to most about the season. 😊
Ah the joy of cracking open a new book bought at my independent used bookseller
Love the way Louise Erdich writes. She wraps several story lines into a cohesive whole. Her writing is lyrical. Read this book for my book club.
