#2018Book154
I've always liked Wolverine, though that might have more to do with Hugh Jackman playing him than the actual character. I spent the first half of this graphic novel being extremely annoyed with Wolverine, though, as he refused to be the badass fighter we all know him to be. Eventually, he explains his turn to pacifism, which made me a lot more sympathetic toward him, but it might have helped if they'd introduced that earlier.

Went to the local blues and jazz festival on the weekend and ended up wandering into a little comic book store. So of course I had to pick up some comics.

4/5🤠. I really enjoyed this alternate reality. Logan is living in what used to be California with a wife and two children. The United States as been divided by the Marvel Universes super villains. Logan has taken an oath to keep his claws in and live a peaceful life, until he is short on cash and is approached by Hawkeye to help transport an item. Good read and great graphics

🎶 All the nightmares came today
And it looks as though they're here to stay.

Oh you pretty thing
Don't you know you're driving your
papas insane. 😆

The Marvel mutants are the Homo Superior, but even they gotta make way for the next generation.

Caught the Logan movie on PPV with hubs tonight. How did this get such high ratings? LOL 😜🍿🎥

KathyWheeler I loved it! 8y
Librariana I read somewhere that many people thought Mr. "Hunka-Hunka" Hugh Jackman (he's a pretty dreamy gent!) was snubbed for an Academy Award (or some other type of accolade the name of which escapes me. 8y
Karkar I loved the movie. But not award worthy for Hugh. 8y

KathyWheeler @Karkar Book Riot had an article on why his performance is Oscar worthy. Basically the argument is that he deserves an award for the totality of all his performances as Logan across all the movies and for where he's taken the character. 8y
minkyb My kind of movie. Thoroughly enjoyed it. 8y
TsundokuAleax While I agree that the totality of his performance of this character is amazing and could possibly deserve an award, I don't know if it should. I also say this loving this character, this story line and this interpretation of the story. This is probably the best translation of a comic story line to date (pre Wonder Woman). The writers took an amazing complex story line streamlined it and managed to fix holes in brilliant ways. 8y

Sort of the basis for the most recent Logan movie, in that Wolverine is old and does not want to fight anymore, but the rest of the story is different. There is a road trip and some amazing fight scenes, it's all brutal and tragic.

This was an amazing story. So well done. A great story and an interesting world created. Cool references to the rest of the marvel universe. Very dark and gory. But in the best way.

Oh my goodness, THIS MOVIE!!! @KennethTolesJr took me to see Logan and it just made me 😭 so much. I was in pain throughout the movie. I grew up watching the X-Men and wanting to be one of them, so watching one of my favorite X-Men broken and falling apart was tough. Oh man I'm going to miss Hugh Jackman as wolverine. I wonder when they're going to start working on the X-23 movie. 👍🏽 awesome movie, but it tore my heart apart.

KennethTolesJr It truly was...cinema history in the making... 😢 8y
kylienoele I cried the entire last half of the movie 😭 So well done but so so sad. 8y
vivastory I'm seeing it tomorrow. X-men have always been my favorite superhero team. 8y

TheBookAddict @TheLibrarian you're welcome. If you're an X-men and/or Wolvorine fan this one is a must watch. It's really good. 8y

This was one of the best super hero movies ever imho. Patrick Stewart deserves an Oscar nom for his portrayal of Charles Xavier suffering from dementia. I've never seen it portrayed quite so spot on, with the confusion, lashing out, frailty, memories of youth and occasional eloquence portrayed so heartbreakingly. I am going to have to see some amazing supporting actor performances to justify not nominating him this year.

What a stressful night. And I'm not even American. This flu is making it hard to concentrate on anything aside from tv, so I'm hoping this will distract me until I fall asleep.

#bookmail There aren't a lot of comics that I love, but I love the story of Wolverine. I'm looking forward to reading this one before the movie. I also have a kid who's going to be very excited, for the new Kinney, when he gets home from school.

AmandaL We got our Wimpy Kid book today too! 8y

Excellent read. Like having a read a #film. Too bad none of this will be in James Mangold's adaptation, with the exception of #Logan being old. This takes all of half an hour to 45 minutes to complete.
