pickAn epistolary novel for middle grades - set in a Mongolian style during Genghis Khan's day. I loved it. The characterization was fantastic. Dashti, a mucker girl uses songs to heal. She matures while supporting her mistress in a locked up tower. #MiddleGradeMarchThroughTime @megnews #BBRC @LibrarianRyan
pickOkay so I admit I was not in love with this book till I was like two thirds of the way done. The characters seem weak and horrible but actually I think that‘s how she wanted it because the end was bomb.

I was on the border of disliking this book until I reached the last third of the book. Dashti and Saren both seemed like weak characters to me for about half of the book and were kind of unlikeable until the last third of the book. For me, Saren didn‘t redeem herself until the very end of the book which was frustrating. However, I loved Tegus, the world-building, the illustrations, and how the end tied all the parts of the book together.

pickThis book was darling—light and sweet. It was a nice little break from some of the heavier books I read recently. I don‘t know how it ended up on my Kindle, but I‘m glad it did!
Started this on audiobook! I have a print copy somewhere I think but it's less than eight hours so perfect for when I need to use my hands during #readathon.

I didn‘t realize this book was for younger readers when I ordered it. It sounded like a good story and it is. I‘ve read over half of it today since it is a faster read. #maps
