Can‘t say it was the best thing I‘ve listened to/read, but it was still entertaining. Great if you want a quick and fun ghost book. I did enjoy the complexity of the protagonist and the town as a whole, but the dialogue of the antagonists tended to be a bit overwrought and unrealistic. Still fun, though.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book I read by Francesca Zappia last month (Eliza and Her Monsters) so I sought out another title by her, this one just wasn't for me. I didn't bail but pushed through it quickly simply because I knew if I set it down I wouldn't pick it back up. Only other book I can compare it to is Patrick Ness' "The Rest of Us Just Live Here".

monkeygirlsmama This makes me sad. :( I have loved her other books and have this one on my TBR list. I also love Ness, but haven't read the one you compared to. Anyway, I'm sad you didnt' like this, but I guess not every book can be a win or even if they are they just aren't for everybody. Here's hoping I'll enjoy it more than you did. 4y

I love maps. Do you?

#mystery startingnow

Panic70 My almost 10 year old loves books with maps. She just got the first Wings of Fire graphic novel. She must have gone back to the map a dozen times when reading the book. I need to find more books for her with maps. 5y
monkeygirlsmama I was thinking you drew this. Guessing it's actually a made to look hand drawn print inside the book? 4y
Nikkionlyreads @monkeygirlsmama yes, it is inside the book. Unfortunately, my drawing is not at all good. 😅 4y

Zora is trying to save her town from supernatural firestarters, but the townspeople don't know about the firestarters and think Zora is the one starting the fires.

A fun, fast read that I‘ll remember for a while. I loved the setting, humor, and family relationships. Looking forward to reading more by the author.

#weeklyforecast

Gorgeous fall day--ran errands and did some cleaning, before another cold front moves in.

My goal is to finish “Now Entering Addamsville” before I go back to work on Tuesday--it‘s already a few days late, but so worth it.

After that, I have a couple of options. There‘s a few ebooks I want to get to, before they are due. I want to start reading my #Owlcrate backlog again
And I‘d like to get in a few more #booked2019 prompts.

Cinfhen I think you have lots of good options and a solid plan for the week!! And hurray for a lovely weather day!!!! 5y
SLibrarian5 Thanks! @Cinfhen It's nice to have options. 5y

#bookreport

I finished “The Woman in the Window” on Monday. ⭐⭐⭐ and a half stars.

I‘m currently on page 259 of “Now Entering Addamsville.” Francesca Zappia is quickly becoming one of my new favorite authors. There‘s a paranormal meets Veronica Mars vibes to this book and I am loving it so far.

@Cinfhen

Cinfhen How great to discover a new author you love!! 5y

I have some conflicting feelings on this one. It was an interesting and layered ghost story, perfect for this time of year, with complex family and friend dynamics and an exploration of moral ambiguity. Still, I feel somewhat disconnected from the story overall. This will not be the powerhouse Eliza was (which, tbf, I didn‘t finish) but it is definitely worth the read.

3.5 ⭐️

Please enjoy the picture of me in my most natural habitat. 😂

“Ludwig began backpedaling. ‘Don‘t you at least owe me the benefit of the doubt? You know better than anyone that doing bad things doesn‘t make you a bad person...‘

He wasn‘t wrong, but here‘s the thing: no one owes you the benefit of the doubt when your actions have shown, repeatedly and without reparation, that you do not deserve it.” (pg. 339)

Character art! 😍

“‘How many people have you talked to who live in the trailer park?‘

She went oddly quiet.

‘Well, there‘s your answer,‘ I said. ‘It‘s not that they don‘t have stories. It‘s that you don‘t talk to the people who know them.‘” (pg. 105)

More than a ghost story, this book has some zinger quotes and beautiful packaging. I love this map!

Also, anyone else in the stage of fall where the outdoors is perpetually inside??

Tamra Nice! 5y

Zappia knows the way to my heart with her characters and this one included ghost! I saw this book in the store and it was a total impulse buy for October and I honestly thought it was an Addams Family spin-off, but no it was so much better! Zora sees ghost, and fights firestarters, she‘s sad, her moms missing, dads in prison, so much going on. The atmosphere and characters just come together to make a perfect spooky Halloween read!

Listened to the audio of this and it was a pure delight. There are ghosts (so many ghosts, all portrayed as something akin to friends that are just hanging around and I /loved/ that) and demons (those were mostly awful, and fire-y, and dumb) and difficult family relations and just.. delight. It starts out slow and could've done with some clarification through backstory, but beggars can't be choosers. Perfectly eerie for lil' easily spooked me 👻

3️⃣⭐⭐⭐
This story is about Zora and the town she lives in which is called Addamsville. Zora can see ghost just like her mom who disappeared 5 years ago. After a mysterious round of fires and death all fingers point to Zora so it's up to her to prove she had nothing to do with it.

The last couple of weeks I have had a lot of trouble reading during the work week. Not finishing any books and barley reading. I figured this would be a perfect October read. It was full of ghosts and a murder mystery. I didn't love this book as much as the authors book Eliza and Her Monsters but I did enjoy it!

kamoorephoto I so loved Eliza...I will still read this one though! That cover! 5y
JoScho I can‘t wait to read this one!!! 5y

This one started a little slow for me, but now that I‘m getting more into the meat of the story, I‘ve been enjoying it! It‘s a good spooky-light (really, not spooky at all...but there are ghosts and other supernatural beings) read for the season! 👻 Gatsby was enjoying rubbing his face on the corner and pawing at the pages last night too! 🐱❤️
