so-soI have read 4 Alexis Hall books this year, and unfortunately this is my least favorite. Though it is highly readable, I am just a bit tired of Halls repeated "he is an asshole but you got to love him" main characters, and Ash feels like the biggest asshole so far.
3.5⭐ because I do enjoy Halls writing.

pickThis M/M #romantsy set in the UK got me right in the feels. Ash is a manic depressive academic and Darian is a spray tanned, flamboyant "glitter pirate" from Essex. Even so, they have instant chemistry followed by some tough times working through Ash's mental state. I almost bailed at the beginning bc deciphering Darian's phonetically spelled Essex accent took some getting used to (janarwhatamean? haha), but I'm SO glad I stuck with it! ?️?❤️

Il tema della malattia mentale e della depressione viene trattato benissimo, togliendo il fiato e spingendo il lettore a riflettere su come la vita di persone come Ash sia complicata e piena di ostacoli. Ho adorato Ash e il rapporto meraviglioso che si crea con Darian. Assolutamente consigliato 😁
La verità è che, a volte, facevo persino fatica a volergli bene. Mi aveva visto toccare il fondo, e questo mi faceva provare vergogna e rancore nei suoi confronti, come se i ricordi di migliaia di umiliazioni se ne stessero in agguato dietro i suoi occhi come uno sciame di pesciolini d'argento
