I highly recommend this historical fiction trilogy set during the American Revolution, which is experienced by fictional characters Isabel & Curzon who seek their own freedom. I often forgot this was written for younger readers; not dumbed down & also is unflinching regarding unfairness of what “fighting for freedom” really meant. Excellent research into locales & events as well, along with additional info provided by appendixes/Q&A in each book.

GardenJess I need to read the last one. Amazing series. 4y
ValerieAndBooks This month is #blackhistorymonth so this series would be excellent for that — but really, any month of the year is a good time for these. 4y
