Anyone else a fan of the movie A Christmas Story? This is the book it's based on. I snagged it for my mother as a gift since she is a little obsessed with it. I might have to borrow it from her though.

Did you know that the movie “A Christmas Story” is based on a book? I just found out and I can‘t wait to read it. I‘m snuggled up with a steaming cup of tea and a purring #Coale , enjoying this Christmas classic. 🎄🎁

Worked all day at bookstore and we had one of our busiest, best days! The tagged book is by the author who wrote A Christmas Story (which is a fav holiday movie of mine). What books are you hoping to see under the tree?

#Rocktober For various reasons I've felt a bit #Fragile lately, as has poor Max ?with his dental surgery recovery-but we are doing better & I decided to go with what always pops in my mind when I see the word or someone says 'fragile'-- "Fra-gee-leh"... it must be Italian! ?There's nothing like a leg lamp-a MAJOR award. The beloved A Christmas Story film was based on the tagged book by Jean Shepard which I have not read but is on my #TBR list.?

This book wasn't bad, I just couldn't finish it. The sense of nostalgia that was present in the movie was noticeably absent in this in my opinion and it just left the stories feeling a bit dull. I found myself thinking if the narrator isn't fond of these memories why should I be? I managed to read the handful they used for the film but after that I put it aside.

Happy Birthday to Jean Shepherd, radio host, writer, raconteur, and the mind behind "A Christmas Story." My memory of his stories are that they are a little problematic for today, but I also remember them as evocative and funny as all get out. Definitely an author I need to revisit! #bookishbirthdays

Included in this collection are the majority of stories that make up The Christmas Story movie, but there are plenty of other great stories here that are not in the movie. Classic piece of Americana humor from the 1960s, originally published as a series of articles in Playboy Magazine.
