I picked this up in a thrift shop the other day for $0.50. The cover caught my eye and it sounds like something I won‘t be able to put down. #50of2023

Told from dual POV, Caroline (rich Long Island weekender), sensing her marriage was in shambles, begins an affair with townie Aiden. The dual POV was interesting - was this a guy obsessed or a woman who was manipulative. Oh, and of course there is a murder to figure out. The ending seemed predictable but I do always find Michelle Campbell's writing style enjoyable.
It had been a while since I picked up a thrilled & I ended up reading this one in one day. Caroline, wealthy & somewhat spoiled, is getting ready to have a big housewarming party for her multi-million dollar home, which will also serve as a way for her to start reestablishing connections for her interior decorator business, put on hold when her daughter (now starting college) was born. But things start to go sideways in Caroline's life when she⬇️
#WeeklyForecast - My "winter break" is almost over, as it's almost time for the greenhouse to kick into high transplanting gear, so I am trying to squeeze in as much reading as I can!! The tagged book is apparently overdue at the library (whoops) so I am reading it before my library trip on Tuesday. I actually finished The Big Six yesterday, and the books to the right are my ongoing buddy reads. Spinning Silver is for #LMPBC so it is pretty high⬇️
Just finished reading this by Michele Campbell #michelecampbell #astrangeronthebeach
Did you read this last summer? If not, make it a 2020 summer read!! :)

Today‘s Prompt: CURIOUS STRANGER
Stranger Danger has never been a more appropriate term than for the situation Caroline found herself in.

At the start i thought this book was going to be rubbish, because i found the writing style used a lot of 'slang' and it seemed rushed and snappy. I didn't really like how Michele wrote the sex scenes either. They seemed blunt and not very romantic. 😂
Once i got the notion that this book was written in the perspective of two people i was amazed! Both sides were believable until the very end when the truth was revealed! Definitely a must read!!
Told from the viewpoints of both Caroline & Aiden, as it progresses the incongruity between the accounts intensifies in an effort to confuse the reader as to who is telling the truth. Unfortunately if you read a lot of thrillers, it‘s pretty easy to work out what‘s happening. A disappointing 2⭐️
Caroline Stark‘s idyllic life falls apart when she finds out that her husband Jason has been unfaithful to her. He disappears with the woman she suspects him of having an affair with and all their savings. In revenge, Caroline gets involved with bad boy Aidan – is one stalking the other, or is this a real relationship? And is everything what it seems?
Not sure how I feel about this thriller. Different and interesting but maybe it was all so far fetched that I had a hard time suspending disbelief. Maybe I just didn‘t connect with the characters (just about all of which are unlikeable). Maybe I am just over these crazy thrillers and it‘s a it‘s not you it‘s me situation. At any rate, I finished it but it was just alright. 3⭐️
This was a good thriller once it got going. It was a bit slow at the beginning but I'm so glad I stuck with it because the end was very clever. I was so hoping for a big twist at the end. I predicted some but not all of it. The plot was interesting with some amazing twists. Its told from Caroline and Aidan's point of view adding more depth and confusion. The characters were interesting especially Aidan. #readersfirst
“A Stranger on the Beach” is a twisty thriller by a well reviewed author. The story is unique and mostly enjoyable but I found it was a little too slow paced and more of an okay read for me. 3 stars!
My full review is up on my blog now 📚
I really liked this book. Fast paste with some turns and turns. Nothing like one night stand with psycho stocker lol
It‘s always discouraging when mysteries compare themselves to Gone Girl” and then fell short. The tagged book was good, but not gripping. There were a few good twists and one of the central characters garnered some sympathy , but at a certain point the story became somewhat formulaic. The ending was predictable by about the middle of the book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
On a day that the country mourns, I get to celebrate, too. 🎉🎉🎂🎂
It wasn‘t good to begin with and just got dumber by the minute. 🙁
I just think this one could have been better. When I got to the 60% mark, I became antsy for it to end; it just dragged on and on. Also, the ending was predictable. The fact that I made it all the way to the end without bailing, makes it a perfectly average book imo.
🍭🍭🍭🍭 review is up on my blog. Stop by and say hi. https://reecaspieces.com/2019/08/05/a-stranger-on-the-beach-by-michele-campbell-.... This book is twisted!
I finished book 1/15 this morning! It was a fun for sure, and I couldn‘t get through the second half fast enough! #bfcr3 #bookfitnesschallenge #goteam
Michele Campbell does a great job of setting a dark, intense thriller. A Stranger On The Beach kept me on the edge on my seat, I could not turn the pages fast enough. Trying to figure out the scenario was insane, so many twist and turns making the readers tension escalate, which leads to the WTF ending. This was a well written story, the perfect beach read.
Stranger Danger has never been a more appropriate term than for the situation Caroline found herself in.
The twisty, turny events along with the twisted stories each character tells keeps you guessing and will keep the interest high.
An excellent, wild ride indeed and one you do NOT want to miss reading. 5/5

🎈 still trying to figure out how to use Litsy, hoping this is right seeing as it‘s my first post 🎈Currently reading!! So far I‘m enjoying it. It kind of has like a stalkerish/obsessive feel to it. Will let ya know more when I am finished 🤪
There were a few plot holes that I ultimately struggled with, but I'll partially overlook given Campbell's strong writing and ability to deftly create suspense and tension. She pens some strong characters and used the unreliable narrator as the perfect mechanism to execute her effusive plot. There wasn't the startling revelation that I was hoping for in that I did figure it out, but again, her writing was intricate and compulsive.

This book started out intriguing, quickly turned into what felt like a bad Lifetime movie, and then around halfway through I realized something else was afoot. Ultimately the book was better than I initially thought, but characters were clueless and frustrating, plot points were unresolved or undeveloped, and the tail end had no impact. I liked She Was the Quiet One by this author but this was only okay. Thanks to NetGalley for this one.
