What a great ending to a great series! Really glad I decided to stick with it and finish the series instead of waiting as long as I did between book 1 and 2. Thanks to #readyourtbr and #serieslove2023 for the push to get it done!

So after taking quite some time to read this series. I ended up loving it. Nothing bad to say about it. I will say that it gave me Harry Potter vibes, and that never really went away.

Finished this one while cooking dinner. It was a good end to a really good series. I wish some of the battles were described a little more in depth but overall still enjoyed it. #audiobook #scribd

I'm avoiding as much news and social media as I can, but reading this passage reminds me - no matter what happens, the good always wins because the good never stops. There is always someone to fight alongside and bring back the good.

Enjoyed the conclusion of this trilogy. It was action packed, but didn‘t get bogged down in the battle details. I could see if people don‘t like that, but for me I was ok with it. Its not my favorite of the three, but part of the reason I like this trilogy is that all of the books have a different feel while telling a cohesive story. I was satisfied with how it ended, but it didn‘t leave me longing for more. Would still recommend! ⬇️

Sargar114 ⬆️ this is my #doublespin for this #bookspinbingo. Not a great success compared to other‘s boards, but I‘m happy with it. 4y

I've waited impatiently for this book! I loved this trilogy so much. Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors and she did not disappoint on this one. The characters are so relatable, mixed with a memorable storyline and some shocking twists and turns.

I would recommend this book to Nora Roberts fans or anyone interested in fantasy or apocalyptic thrillers.

📖📚 Happy Reading! 📚📖

I loved book one in this trilogy—it hit two topics I enjoy. Book two was okay—more fantasy and less post-pandemic survival tale. Book three was lots of fantasy, and the post-pandemic was switched for copious battle scenes. I missed the character study and didn‘t love the increased YA feel.

Book 1 - ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Book 2 - ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Book 3 - ⭐️ ⭐️

Cinfhen Oh wow!! So the series got progressively worse 🙅🏼‍♀️I didn‘t make it through book one ...too much magic not enough dystopia so I‘m not sure I would have liked the rest of the series. 5y
alisiakae I have yet to find a Nora Roberts book I like. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen In some ways, I wrote this short review for you. My blog post has more detail. But I def don‘t think this series is for you. 😘 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft I‘m pretty sure I read some of her books before this series. But it was decades ago, so I couldn‘t tell you which. Or what I thought. I did genuinely enjoy 5y

The third book in this post-apocalyptic trilogy that brings Celtic mythology to life after The Doom - a virus that claims over 80% of humanity. Many of those left turn into witches, elves, fairies or shapeshifters. A wonderful good vs. evil tension carries through the whole trilogy and Nora Roberts, as always, does a fine job of bringing her characters to life.

Wow! The end of the series and Roberts knocked it out of the park. Needed a klneex for some of it. Felt so much for these characters that I couldn't help cry.

These restrictions from Macmillan Publishing are obscene!

LibrarianRyan Yep!!!!!! Think it's bad for one library. My library is part of an ebook consortium (eReadIllinois) and it is one copy for the consortium which is 159 libraries. 5y
ljuliel Holy smokes ! Ridiculous. I know a lot of my holds sre 6 months. I don‘t even look at what number I am in line, or I‘d just delete it . I‘m not very patient. I know it‘s not the library‘s fault though. 5y
See All 22 Comments
LibrarianRyan @ljuliel It is what it is. ALA and libraries, and library advocates are fighting it. It's part of why I hate Amazon (for books, I just dislike them for most other things 😁). They make and share all these reports including library lending reports from their association with Overdrive. they help to point out how much more could be made if libraries didn't get a portion of use. Why do you think they have so many exclusivity deals. 5y
ljuliel Well, they won‘t be getting any more of my money. I‘m sticking with it and using the library. I guess Amazon won‘t be able to build a new factory without my orders coming in this year. @LibrarianRyan 5y
LibrarianRyan @ljuliel 😁 I have an entire dissertation length list of ways Amazon hurts libraries. They get very very little of my money. I may live in the capitol, but it is still farm country, and sometimes I just have to. But then I use my friends account which helps me feel just a small tiny bit better about it. 5y
Tianarose @LibrarianRyan I can totally understand it from a sales point of view , limit accessibility and drive sales. So frustrating. Size of goes against everything a library stands for. 😡 5y
ljuliel The only problem is, if the libraries wouldn‘t have the deals with Amazon to get ebooks and audiobooks, they‘d still have to get them through another company, right ? So would it matter if it were Barnes and Noble ? Wouldn‘t the same thing be happening ? @LibrarianRyan 5y
LibrarianRyan @ljuliel Ummm, libraries don't get ebooks and audiobooks from Amazon. If the library pays for Overdrive then they can buy them from overdrive and amazon users can borrow them.

Libraries buy their digital books/audiobooks usually from their platform provider. A few places that have developed their own platform buy from the publishers.

If you library does not have Overdrive, then Kindle paper white and Kindle Oasis users have no way to ⬇ ⬇
5y
LibrarianRyan @ljuliel access library ebooks. Kindle Fires can download the various platform apps but usually it has to be “jailbroken“ (which now is just flipping a switch). But then every time they update the Fire, the app has to be re-slid onto the device.

Plus, for many of the publishers there is a meter on the ebook. Sometimes it a number of check outs, but most of the rest of the time it is a time limit before you have to repurchase the book.

5y
LibrarianRyan @ljuliel then you have Blackstone audio which signed an exclusivity deal with Amazon so that all their audiobooks go to Audible first. Libraries and other platforms like iBooks, Kobo, etc, have to wait I believe 4 months before they get access to lend/purcase.

Then there are strait up exclusives that are ONLY available to Amazon. Stories by big authors written just for their platform like Kindle and Audible. And they have no plans on ⬇
5y
ljuliel Shows how much I know about where libraries get their books. I thought Overdrive was just an app like Libby, you know, a place to download books. I had no idea where libraries purchase their books. I figured it‘d be Amazon. Big company, big selection. @LibrarianRyan 5y
LibrarianRyan @ljuliel making them available ever.

Then take small press or self published authors who publish though Amazon service. They also have a built in exclusivity where they can not put their books on other platforms for between 3 months to a year. I won't even get into how those authors get pennies on the dollar through Amazon compared if they published somewhere else.

Sorry, like I said, dissertation length and this is only a scratch.
5y
ljuliel I doubt very many customers know all this behind the scenes stuff, and probably don‘t care, as long as they can get books. Sad but true. I‘m not sure if it‘s a possibility to cut out the middleman somewhere along this chain. Our library said they‘re not going to stop purchasing from Macmillan , because they think most other big publishers will be following along right behind. This could make Kindles obsolete if this keeps up. Already, 👇🏼 5y
ljuliel Kindle books cost more than print. @LibrarianRyan 5y
LibrarianRyan @ljuliel Not always, but sometimes yes. Plus Amazon has always made it a habbit to undersell everyone else on books because then customers stay and buy other things.

It's a big mess and most don't know what is going on. You should feel very bad for the Littens who got my “Ebooks School“ lessons when they made bad cracks about their libraries collection and how they should do better jobs.

They can't. Their hands are tied. So so Tied.
5y
Tianarose @LibrarianRyan wow! Thanks for all this info on the issue. 5y
jillrhudy Hate hate hate 😡 5y
ljuliel I don‘t blame the libraries.I know they don‘t have much control over it. They‘re probably getting a lot of flak from customers , but I don‘t complain to them.I just asked if they were going to boycott Macmillan and they said no ,and explained why. They said they‘re trying to work something out with it. But if they don‘t,customers will just have a long wait. It‘s almost forcing readers to BUY books, but some of us do t have the funds. @LibrarianRyan (edited) 5y
Crazeedi Good reason to read more physical books from my library, and continue to donate money to them as I am able 5y

As the end of a series this hits all the marks and some. The compilation of characters, action, and storyline create a world of wonder and understanding (as with all Nora Roberts books) this creates emotional attachment to said characters and a sadness to see the end of the series. 📚

keys_on_fire I‘ve had book one on my shelf for quite a while now. Excited to get to it in 2020, especially now that the trilogy is complete! 5y

Was this trilogy perfect? No, the second book was a little clunky, the ending a little abrupt. Am I impressed as hell that NR pulled this off? Yes! A post-apocalyptic, paranormal story full of light, love and humor, some real bad baddies getting got, and everything tied up neatly by the final page. Nora has gone from being my guilty pleasure to a not-guilty-at-all pleasure and she‘s in top form here. For the series and this book 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.

This was an excellent finale to a simply fantastic trilogy. I adore Roberts‘ fantasy series and this may be my favorite. Part horror/post apocalyptic adventure and part urban fantasy.
