Infernal Devices (Mortal Engines #3)
Infernal Devices (Mortal Engines #3) | Philip Reeve
21 posts | 31 read | 8 to read
The third thrilling book in the stunning Predator Cities series! The mighty engines of Anchorage have been rusted and dead for years. The derelict city no longer roams the Ice Wastes, but has settled on the edge of the land that was once America. Tom Natsworthy and Hester Shaw are happy in the safety of a static settlement, but their daughter, Wren, is desperate for adventure. When a dangerously charming submarine pirate offers her a chance to escape, Wren doesn't think twice about leaving her home and her parents behind. But the pirate wants something in return--Wren must steal the mysterious Tin Book. To do so will ignite a conflict that could tear the whole world apart.

My favourite part in the series so far! It feels so steampunk-y and I liked the fact that we're not only following Wren, but also her now grown-up parents. And that the former heroes are no your typical well-behaving main characters. Oh, and the plot of course!

It just comes fully to me now how much I enjoyed this book!

Mortal Engines Series Book 3
I liked this book because the main characters settled down temporarily and the story continued despite that. I rate it a 7/10 because it was enjoyable yet also kind of hard to understand at times.

I really enjoyed this book, but probably not as much as the others. Hester as a character has really started to annoy me and i think that has kind of spoilt it for me. Still a good read though. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Keeping on with that amazing series! After reading the first 2 books over the weekend for the #24in48 readathon, I‘m going to keep going with book 3. This series is shaping out to be one of my favorites 🤓

Lots to think about with this one 😬🤔

Curiouser_and_curiouser Absolutely! As Brene Brown explains in her talks and books, a concept I didnt think about before. I'm reading her book Rising Strong atm, which is exactly that topic 6y

I have really been enjoying this series! Though this book takes place many years after book 2 many of the same characters are there yet the new ones are equally important and interesting. This book follows the daughter of Hester and Tom and I really enjoyed following Wren‘s story! Excited to start the fourth and final book in the Hungry City chronicles!

Audio driving today. Archery 🏹 is life for us this time of year. Every weekend a different school and another tournament. My oldest didn‘t do so hot today and kinda had a ‘come to Jesus‘ moment as we in the south like to say. Sometimes you just need a lil kick in the behind to shoot you into greatness...I hope it works.

Something I‘ve noticed about these copies of the Mortal Engines series is that the books are bound so tightly that they‘re difficult to read. I don‘t want to break the spine but I damn near have a hand cramp from holding the books open. This has to be my biggest book related pet peeve. 😡

One of the great things about Philip Reeve's characters is that they are unpredictable in a strikingly realistic way. They are utterly human in their foibles, failings, and flawed decisions. Even the resurrected automatons known as Stalkers have discordant moments of humanity.

This book, the third in the Predator Cities series, took the characters in unexpected directions and left me shocked, but eager for more.

#Titleconfusion = that moment you realize the book you're reading shares its title with a book you've already read as well as a series you were considering reading.
