Precious, against her better judgment, takes on a sad case from an American woman whose son went missing in #Botswana ten years ago. But she‘s an intuitive and intelligent private detective, and brave. Meanwhile her engagement to Mr JLB Matekoni brings many surprises!! The second in an entertaining series, I‘m anxious to read the next book! #foodandlit #halloweenatoz #letterT #hauntedshelf #hexesandcrows @Catsandbooks @PuddleJumper

slategreyskies This series always reminds me of my grandparents. Years ago, my grandmother bought me a copy of one of the books in this series for Christmas. My grandfather was wrapping presents for her before Christmas, & he thought it was a book that she‘d gotten for him to give to her. He inscribed it to her: “To Jeanie, Merry Christmas! All my love, Eugene.” I think I‘ll likely keep that book forever. I don‘t have anything else with his handwriting.♥️ 1mo

I love this 2nd book of the No. 2 Ladies Detective Agency even more than the first! I think I read the whole thing with a huge smile on my face. 😁

Soubhiville I feel like the series gets better and better. Love these characters. 💕 2y
kplovesbooks @Soubhiville YES. It's the characters that really make this such a delightful series! 2y

The last of my book haul today. I fell in love with this series when I read The No. 1 Ladies‘ Detective Agency for #ReadingAfrica2022. So I found books 2, 5, and 6. (BTW, who writes “5” on the cover when it‘s printed on the spine? Taking suggestions on how to remove permanent marker—otherwise it‘s in excellent condition.) It looks like I‘ll keep reading about #Botswana this year! 😁😁😁

AmandaBlaze Goo Gone sometimes removes permanent marker and it doesn't damage book covers. 2y
Texreader @AmandaBlaze thanks! I‘ll try it 2y

I have heard of the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, but didn't know anything about it. Until now. I have fallen for the main characters and the discussions they have on moral obligations to their clients and nation #Botswana I will definitely read more. #ReadingAfrica2022 @BarbaraBB @Librarybelle #SeriesRead2022 @TheSpineView

BarbaraBB I want to read a book from that series too for Botswana! 3y
Librarybelle This is such a popular series at the library! I read the first one with a mystery discussion group I ran at the library, and everyone enjoyed it. Great choice! 3y

I loved the first book in this series, but I remember struggling with this one 20 or so years ago and bailing. I picked it up on audio as my book for #botswana for #readingafrica2022. The narrator is brilliant and while I felt the story dragged in places, the narrator made the difference in this being a pick versus a DNF. I‘d recommend this for the narrator alone, but I do love the main characters, too.

Once upon a time, I started this series and never kept up. So now my plan is to #audiolisten to it. Just finished the tagged and enjoyed it immensely. Listened to book 1 to refresh my memory first, then dove into book 2, and just starting number 3. Love the characters, the setting, the narrator, and find myself feeling a strong urge to drink more tea! 🍵

Kristin_Reads It‘s such a good series! I‘m on #19 and still loving it. 4y

Many, many years ago I read the first book of this series and got volume two afterwards, just so it could sit on my ereader. Now that I finally got to read the second book, I first thought of dropping the whole thing.

But happily I kept on reading. After I got used to the way of storytelling, I started to like the characters and the story more and more. Learned a lot about Botswana and its traditions.

From an almost bail to a pick!

That figure in her accounts would be a very large one.

🥰❣️Indeed each title in #rereadingRamotswe20 swells my Happiness column 🥰💞

It was a slowly savoured journey with Precious, who remains happily engaged while gaining 2 children. Her fiancé is glad one of them understands happiness and feelings of engines. Meanwhile the Lady Detective solves cases & brings peace to her clients.

This is my April #BookSpin & 📖 3 for #NutsinMay (as planned)

You could give the children to Mma Ramotswe as a wedding present. Women love children. She will be very pleased. She'll be getting a husband and some children all on the same day! Any lady would love that, believe me.

🤣😅🤣
Mma Potokwani and her formidable powers of 'persuasion' (or manipulation 🤔😆)

Another 7 chapters, more than 70 pages before Precious learns of her new family! Oops 😁😁

📚 Not necessarily though I did reread Vicious before Vengeful. It was absolute thrill (again)

📚 I am glad to return to various series, after a brief break of distraction the last couple of years.
Currently #rereadingRamotswe20 (tagged is 2nd book) to celebrate the 20th title in the series. Miss Marple books tho they're standalone novels
#heyCarrots tbc ;p these among other series

Wellp, Lucas and I have food poisoning, so a day in bed it is. 🤢😷 I had to cancel two of my classes today, and I feel utterly awful about it considering I only get 5 sessions with these kids.
Anyway, I'll probably get through this book today, and I'm thinking if starting Cujo next. It's super random, but it's been calling my name. 🤔

The story continues. New mysteries, new challenges and new philosophical dilemmas to be faced. Still the same enjoyable level of humor and unique style of writing, still the gorgeous setting, and with further character development. A gem of a series. #recentlyread #nospoilers #femaledetective #dilemma #beautifulsetting #seriesfiction

I love the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency series! Especially the audiobooks. The characters are endearing and the situations often absurd, and I always laugh a lot reading through each book. I highly recommend these for a lighthearted and usually uplifting good time!
