Not my favorite of the series but I always enjoy my time in Botswana with Precious and her community. 3.5 🌟

Morality For Beautiful Girls | Alexander McCall Smith

A belated review:

Change is afoot in Botswana. The Agency is losing money and so it must pick up and move. But what to do about the assistant detective? It seems Mma Makutsi has hidden talents besides being the assistant and top graduate of secretarial school! I love the development of this character. Meanwhile the orphanage has taken in a wild boy who seems to have been raised by animals. How can anyone communicate with him? The solution is ⬇️

Texreader a surprise! Despite her misgivings, Precious agrees to look for an American mother‘s missing son. Mma Makutsi takes on a case on her own. And finally, Precious‘s fiancé Mr JLB Matekoni becomes so ill, he‘s quit working at Speedy Motors! A lot of serious story lines going on at one time. Another excellent book, third in the series. #serieslove @TheSpineView (edited) 2w

Tried and gave up on the tagged book - it wasn't for me.
Cooked seswaa (pulled beef) & Bogobe jwa lerotse, a porridge made with sorghum (or in my case, cornmeal, after I realised my sorghum meal had gone off 🙁) & lerotse melon, a cooking, non-sweet melon. Wholesome but I have to admit #Botswana's national dish was a bit too plain for my taste, which it might not be if you're using local Setswana ingredients😊

Ruthiella I have had Sadza from neighboring Zimbabwe and it is quite bland on its own, IMO. 4w
Dilara @Ruthiella Was it served with something flavourful? That would make a lot of difference... 4w
Ruthiella @Dilara It only had a bit of sausage in it. I‘m sure it is a combination of what is added to the porridge plus cultural expectations. I wish I‘d had the ability to explore more when I was there (30 years ago now) but Sadza and Lion beer was the extent of it. 4w

Cry of the Kalahari | Mark Owens, Delia Owens

This was my #FoodAndLit pick for #Botswana

It was interesting to read about Mark and Delia‘s experiences living in the Kalahari desert and the relationships they made with the animals living there.
Even as a reader you become invested in the livelihood of the animals.

I‘m happy #FoodAndLit gave me a reason to go back to the beginning of this cozy mystery series set in #Botswana.

The later books in the series get a little silly, but this one is full of heart.

Thanks again @Texreader for sending the book.
