OK. Since I‘ve been sharing ALL of the interesting videos/articles I‘ve been super into recently, here‘s one final entry:

https://youtu.be/D1Qmyuhz4bA

An acquaintance of ours makes jewelry, clothing, tiny cottages, & more. Her Dad died of Covid during the *very* early days of the pandemic (before we really knew what was going on). She bought an American Girl doll to process her grief & some childhood trauma & made clothes for her. It‘s real Art.

I put up my American Girl tree again! My two favorites are Molly and Samantha.😄 I guess I‘m showing my age because there were only four American Girls when I started reading the books. (Felicity, Kirsten, Samantha, and Molly; Addie got added just as I was aging out of the books). #xmastreecontest #wintergames #mistletoemaniacs @Clwojick

slategreyskies I remember I had the Kirsten books. I think they were a Christmas gift one year. Also, I have that same print hanging on my living room wall. :) 3y
TheAromaofBooks haha we must be about the same age, as I was the same way!! I was never really into dolls, but there was something about these - I used to love going through the catalogue!! I also remember Josefina being added as I had a younger sister who liked dolls a lot more than me 😂 3y
PathfinderNicole I had a Samantha and a Molly too! They were my absolute favorite (though I really liked them all 😂) 3y

I indulged myself - American Girls reissued the first six dolls for their 35th anniversary, and I got my Samantha! When I was about 8 I saved all my money for almost a year to buy the doll. I bought her at a flea market thing, and moments later someone tried to take the bag right out of my hand. They failed, but it was scary. I got her home - and have no memory of anything after that. The doll disappeared. Around that time we moved (cont)

ravenlee from Germany to Ohio, and our stuff was in storage for about six months. The doll never emerged from storage. So, I dithered over the price tag when I saw the anniversary edition but my mom and daughter talked me into it, and here she is! Thirty years later, I finally have my American Girl. 4y
Reggie Awwww that‘s great. Congrats! Now that song is my head- this American Girl🎵 4y
Butterfinger I'm so glad you bought her. I have to look to see if they have Kirsten. 4y

ravenlee @Butterfinger they do! It‘s Molly, Samantha, Kirsten, Felicity, Josefina, and Addy. 4y
Hooked_on_books That‘s cool! This brings back memories for me of the Cabbage Patch doll craze when I was a kid. 4y

I'm going to give this prompt a little spin and only choose books and book series that I read as a child or early teen. All of these books will have impacted me in one way or another.

#7Days7Books Day 3

I find it interesting that one of the original American Girls stories has this tidbit about an expensive doll.

Also, these books put me over Mount Blanc for #MountTBR unofficial challenge.

Suet624 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 5y
TheAromaofBooks haha that's quite hilarious actually. I really enjoyed the Samantha books especially when I was growing up - one of my favorite eras. 5y
Emjoy21 Samantha was my favorite American Girl! And that quote is quite ironic! 5y

I read these five beauties today. I believe they‘re first editions, the original print run from my childhood. No numbers on the spines. I have two copies of the Christmas story but no copy of Changes for Samantha, and not sure if I ever did. I‘ve been looking for one that matches my set for years.

megnews I read these to my oldest when she was young. I just love the American Girl series. 5y
Andrew65 These are great, good luck during the extended time! 😊👍 5y
Beatlefan129 Samantha was my favorite American Girl when I was young. I even had the doll and loved it so much! 5y
ravenlee @Beatlefan129 I have always liked Samantha best. I saved my money for months to get the doll, but shortly after I got her we moved and she disappeared somewhere along the way. I barely remember having her. 5y

#NoFemmeber I couldn‘t pass the chance to highlight a #ThrowbackPhoto #YourBestAmericanGirl with her best American Girl Doll ❤️🙌🏻😉 Samantha was Niki‘s first AGD, others followed 😜 #InduldgedGranddaughter

Cinfhen I‘m sorry @Megabooks I broke my #NonFictionNovember run 😜 6y
Megabooks I‘ll forgive you! 😘😘 Lovely granddaughter 😁 She must bring you a lot of joy! 💜💜 6y
sammisho Samantha was my favorite! For obvious reasons 6y

Cinfhen She‘s my daughter @Megabooks 💕💕Her grandparents indulged her...she‘s also 25 now 😂😂 6y
Cinfhen I think Samantha was my daughter‘s favorite too @sammisho 😁You always remember your first 😉 6y
Cathythoughts Gorgeous gorgeous 💕💕pic 6y
Lola My Samantha looked just like her Samantha doll. And her little sister looked just like Nellie (coincidentally, their great grandmother‘s name) 6y
Megabooks @Cinfhen lolz!! 😂🤣😂 Well, I still hope she‘s brought you a lot of joy! 💕 6y
TrishB Don‘t think we had these in the UK. Great pic - Niki will so so glad you‘ve shared it 😂❤️ (edited) 6y
Cinfhen Ha @Megabooks @TrishB Niki will be thrilled 🤣😂🤣😂 I feel like lots of little girls looked like those dolls @lola we also had Molly & Josephina and I swear Niki looked like them too 😂😂 Thank you @Cathythoughts #GoodMemories (edited) 6y
Kalalalatja @TrishB 😂😂😂 I can only imagine the texts you would get Cindy if she found out! 6y
alisiakae Maya loves AG dolls, Caroline was her first one. I love the historical dolls. My family could never afford one when I was a kid but Samantha and Felicity were my favorites to admire from afar. 6y
Cinfhen OMG! You‘re sooooo young @4thhouseontheleft if you could have played with AG dolls 😚😛 Niki was fortunate to have very generous grandparents, who bought her several. She loved those dolls and we had sooooo much gear. Eventually we passed all the dolls and their stuff onto my niece. I didn‘t know they are still a thing. 6y
Cinfhen Yeah, Niki would probably have A LOT to say/text @Kalalalatja 😂😂 6y
DivineDiana How I loved sharing the American Girl Doll experience with my daughter! She had Kristen, and my mother bought me a small Samantha which I treasure. 6y
xicanti I loved Samantha! My whole family chipped in to buy her for my eighth birthday, and I think my aunt had as much fun dressing her as I did. 6y
GripLitGrl 💖💖 6y
Cinfhen It‘s amazing what a doll can mean to a little girl and I love that the whole family chipped in to show u some love @xicanti That‘s what makes families so special ❣️❣️❣️❣️ 6y
Billypar Such a cute picture! Great use of the prompt 😊 6y
Blaire Yes!! My sister had the books and I loved reading them with her, but the dolls started coming out after she was too old for them. My daughter has a bitty baby and an American girl doll and takes birth baby everywhere. 6y
Reviewsbylola Omg stop! Samantha was my first AG too! She‘s still my favorite!! 6y
Cinfhen Are your girls into AG dolls @Reviewsbylola ??? My niece has Bitty baby and she named her Cindy Nicole 😂❤️❤️ @Blaire 6y
Cinfhen Thanks @Billypar I couldn‘t resist!!! 6y
Reviewsbylola They each have a bitty baby. Imogen (Genevieve) and Edith (Florence). Both names I considered when I was pregnant with them. 😆😆 They also each have a welly wisher and then we have Felicity. But we haven‘t gotten into AG really yet. Flo likes the miniature versions. She‘s obsessed with all things Barbie now tho. 6y
Cinfhen I‘m dying from the names your girls chose @Reviewsbylola 😂😂Edith & Imogene 6y
Reviewsbylola They both got bitty for their first birthdays so we chose the names. I wanted to name Genevieve Imogen and Brian HATED it so he jokingly christened the doll Imogen. And then we stuck with that theme and gave Flo‘s the name Edith since that was a contender when we named her. 😆😆😆 6y
Cinfhen That‘s too funny!!! Now im flattered that LuLu named her bitty Cindy 😊 6y
LeahBergen Awww! 😍😍 6y
GlassAsDiamonds @4thhouseontheleft Felicity & Samantha too! (And ditto - could never afford them, or the shipping to Oz, but a very loving godmother shipped me the books. I was *obsessed*!!! 😊😊😊😊♥️♥️♥️♥️). 6y
Cinfhen Didn‘t peg you as an AGD type @GlassAsDiamonds #LiveandLearn 😘 6y
GlassAsDiamonds @Cinfhen 😉😉😉 I do like keeping people on their toes! They were probably the perfect two to start me on actually - snow, quilting, nature, 1920‘s BUT thanks to family dramas (and this still kills me... one day I may just buy them!) I never finished the Samantha set! 😱😱😱😱😱😭😭😭😭😭 6y

Day 7: I know I‘m a day behind. So it‘s pretty well known about me that I always get caught when I try to break the rules. It‘s a curse. Anyway, that means I usually followed the rules in school because I didn‘t like getting in trouble. However, these books came out in 1986 when I was around 9 and I used to take them to Rosh Hashanah services and read them during the service. With my mom‘s permission of course. #itkeptmequiet

When I was little, Samantha and Kirsten and Molly and Addy (I had a lot of favorites, ok? I was little) were my favorite American Girls, and I dreamed about the day I could take one home. I never did, but now that I'm a grownup, whenever the catalog arrives at my house (why now? Especially now that they're discontinued? *shakes fist*), I get a pang of longing, and I'm eight years old all over again.

It's difficult to pick my #alltimefavebooks, but I have to give some love to the American Girl series. I used to obsess over these books and read each series (Addy, Felicity, Kirsten, Molly, and Samantha) over and over. They fostered my love of reading and history. And thank goodness for Google image searches - my copies are stored away and I can't get a picture of them. #augustphotochallenge

Reviewsbylola Samantha was the first AG doll I got. She is still my favorite. All of my AG stuff is in storage, books included. 😢 8y
Lacythebookworm I had the Molly books! Loved them ❤️ 8y
megt @Reviewsbylola I felt like I spent a lot of time coveting the Samantha doll before I finally got it. In retrospect I was probably very dramatic about that! All my AG stuff isn't too far away - just boxed up in the attic - but I have a continuing mission to make a special home for them on one of my bookshelves. 8y

megt @BookFreakOut Nice! Molly was one of my favorites. 8y
annahenke Loved my Samantha! And these book sets helped inspire my love of history - and historical fiction, of course! 8y
megt @ahenke Samantha was my favorite! And I definitely owe my love of all things historical to these books. 8y
