pickI'm tagging this as a pick because YA is hit or miss for me and I knew that going in but it sounded cute so I decided to try it. There were things I liked but I couldn't really get past how whiney and self involved Elouise was. She did grow quite a bit by the end, at least.
pickThis book is my fantasy in high school. I was just as self depreciating and highly love crazy like Eloise and I'm not ashamed to admit that. She does a lot of the things I imagined myself doing but never had the opportunity to do. I loved this little rom-com, warts and all

so-soVery cute but very predictable. Definitely brimming with teen drama, and guilty of that somewhat irresponsible depiction of teen romance as all-consuming. Also, for a book with hot dog in the title, the plot was largely cupcake-driven 😂
pickWhen I first started this book I‘d dint think I‘d be finishing it 3 hours later especially because the main character, Elouise Parker, was incredibly whining. She was scheming and whining all over the place and it was very distracting and kind of made me hate her. But I couldn‘t put the book down and I‘m glad I didn‘t. What a cute freaking story! 🌈

panNot really my favorite. The MC is just a little whiny and a bit selfish for me personally. I just didn‘t like how she went about trying to get a guy to like her, only to have things completely change and all the drama that entails.

pickThis was adorable! The story of a queer teenage girl just trying to figure it all out. Solid characters, a fun plot, and an overall lovely feeling. If you‘re into contemporary YA at all, then I‘d definitely recommend this one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

pickI finished HOT DOG GIRL on my #audiowalk, and it‘s another of my qualified picks. It‘s pretty cute and I really liked where the relationships ended up, but I found the middle SO frustrating. Lou‘s awful in such an oblivious way that I honestly couldn‘t hope she‘d get together with anyone, because I wouldn‘t wish her on either love interest. If I hadn‘t enjoyed Nick and Seeley in the final scenes, it would‘ve been a So-So.
Sock progress! I can‘t properly position it on my foot because of where the needles are, but this gives you an idea of the pattern. #audioknitting

You‘ll be unsurprised to learn this sky dumped a bunch of rain on me and I had to rush into the nearest Shoppers. I looked at EVERY SINGLE THING in the skincare department while I waited for the world to dry out again.
pickSuch a cute sweet #queer rom com! #Bisexual Elouise lives in a small town that revolves around an old nostalgic amusement where all the teens have summer jobs. Teens include her crush Nick, her lesbian BFF Seeley, and Jessa the park princess / Nick's gf. Elouise is trying one last time to get Nick's attention and to save the park when she learns it's being closed. Including fake dating Seeley. A bit melodramatic and angsty, but to be expected?

so-soI will start by saying that this book redeemed itself a bit towards the end, even though I predicted most of what happened pretty early on. I just couldn‘t convince myself to root for Elouise- she came off as super selfish and inconsiderate. It wasn‘t a horrible book, but I didn‘t like it nearly as much as I‘d hoped.

pickA cute little YA book. I suspected the ending pretty early, but it still put a smile on my face. A bunch of imperfect teens working at an amusement park make a mess of their lives. Especially Lou who has an epic crush on one of the diving pirates &decides pretending to date her bff is the solution. Lou could be a frustrating mc but she grew a lot in ways that felt authentic. I think Becky Albertalli fans will especially enjoy the snark and story.

so-soThe best part about this book is the side characters, who were great. Also, there is decent bisexuality rep in the main character. It is a romance and does include a fake relationship. It was cute, but the naivety of the main character and the shitty choices she made stopped this from being a great book. Read as an #audiobook via #scribd
Using this fun contemporary as palette cleanser from the last one that didn't work out so well 😊
pickI am so behind on my reviews! Loved this one. Coming of age story with a great setting and fun characters. I would love to see this made into a movie. I think most people can relate to being the Hot Dog Girl instead of the Princess. Highly recommend if you enjoyed Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda.

pickI finally finished a book this week and it feels so good! Lou is working at Magic Castle Playland again this summer and she can't wait to find out what she is going to be doing. She isn't so happy to find out that she is going to be the Hot Dog girl again this year. She really wants to win the heart of Nick and she doesn't know how too. When she fakes a relationship with her best friend Seeley, she doesn't plan on is falling for her 👇🏻
