I'm looking for some manga suggestions (and where to buy them for a reasonable price)! Used and new is awesome (:

I‘ve never read any Manga - but there‘s a super beautiful exhibition on at The British Museum and it made we want to pick some up. Sunning exhibition - these wall prints are over 6ft!

monogamist_reader Im going this Saturday and I can't wait!! PS: big manga reader since high school!! 5y
pythoness Oh my sweet heavens am I elated that you included JJBA (JoJo‘s Bizarre Adventure), because it‘s genuinely one of the most fascinating series I‘ve ever read, counting both novels and various manga series. Edit: Whoops, meant to make a line break instead of sending this unfinished, but oh well. One second so I can finish my thoughts. (edited) 5y
pythoness JJBA is interesting in both an immediate sense, while you‘re reading it, and in an overall sense, because it‘s an incredibly long-running series (since the 80s, it I‘m remembering correctly, and is still ongoing) & is both written and drawn by the same person. It‘s split into 8 different parts so far, each one is vastly different from the last, and because of these two things, it serves particularly well to show its creator‘s progression. 5y

Mitch @pythoness I‘m a Manga novice! But I can see I have a world of things to discover and explore! 5y
Mitch @monogamist_reader it was brilliant. I think you‘ll love it. I did and I don‘t even read Manga! 5y
pythoness @Mitch I‘d absolutely be up for recommending a few different manga series, depending on what sort of fiction you like? The genres span at least as far as anything you‘d typically expect, and even further in some other ways. 5y
Mitch @pythoness 😎! I read a bit of everything really - fantasy with a strong female lead, narrative non fiction, historical....I saw one on the exhibition about the Fukushima clean up and that looked good. 5y
pythoness @Mitch I‘ll contemplate and perhaps compile a small list the next time I‘m on my laptop, rather than my phone. ✨ 5y
Mitch @pythoness thanks so much 👏🏻 5y

Your package is on the way for the #graphicnovelsandmangaswap. True to my style I forgot to take a picture of the package. Even better this time I even forgot to mark the package or even leave a note 😢

@PagesByTheWater @thereadingunicorn

TheBookAddict It‘s ok, I‘m sure your swap buddy will still love it. You at least didn‘t forget to send the package...that happens sometimes. 😆😔🤷🏽‍♀️ 5y
PagesByTheWater This has happened to me at least once, it‘s alright as long as package was sent! 5y

LibrarianRyan I just read It is a series but each book is individual. 6y
rachelk My daughter highly recommends 6y
Peddler410 I‘m assuming you are asking about true Manga vs. graphic novels. I have a small group of students who ask for it — most are happy with graphic novels like the ones mentioned by @LibrarianRyan (edited) 6y
Peddler410 I‘m struggling with manga series because of lack of funds. I‘d love to see what others recommend for this age. (edited) 6y
LibrarianRyan @Peddler410 I agree Manga for this age is hard. So many series don‘t last long and if they do they age beyond MG. Like Ravemaster. It started out fine for upper MG. But by the time the books got past 3o we had parents asking us to move it to adults. (Didn‘t happen). 6y
LibrarianRyan This I think is MG. I vetted it before sending it to another kittens kid, but I haven‘t actually read it. Her daughter loved it and had read the entire series. 6y
LibrarianRyan This series is not true manga, but GN but I LOVED it. 6y
LibrarianRyan This is true manga. In full color and only 2 books. 6y
