I don‘t know why it‘s taken me so long to finish this series! This was a great conclusion: drama, great fight scenes, friendship, betrayal, and did I mention great fight scenes?? I would be excited to revisit this world someday. 😍

I just finished The Divided Earth, the final book in Faith Erin Hicks's The Nameless City trilogy (thanks to some poor quality sleep these days). It was a really satisfying conclusion to a trilogy that I have enjoyed very much. It had me on the edge of my seat, but I was happy with the ending. Recommended for any readers middle grade and up (DEFINITELY read in order).
Such a brilliant graphic novel series. These kind of got better as they went, too. They‘re fantasy but feel historical. Gripping and exciting. Suitable for the kiddos. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I binge read this graphic novel trilogy today. It was absolutely incredible. I didn‘t think I‘d enjoy these books as much as I did. There were so many complex characters, mature themes that were delivered well, and the art and writing were engaging. I definitely need my own copies so I can reread them to my heart‘s content!
What a great way to end the trilogy! I‘m very happy to have picked up these books (thanks to Bookstagram), so if you‘re looking for a good adventure, that is action packed and occasionally humorous, this would be a great trilogy to pick up ☺️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Publication for Kids (9-12), The Divided Earth is an epic conclusion to Hicks‘ Nameless City trilogy. It‘s a surprisingly sophisticated story about imperialism, occupation, cultural appropriation, the rise & fall of empires, peace, & reconciliation (& more) told through the friendship & adventures of two kids. Their meeting will change the city forever. Fantastic MG graphic novel—wonderful story & great art.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series, and I'm thoroughly envious of Faith Erin Hicks' talents. Beautifully drawn action, well-written characters with fully developed personalities and motives. Highly recommended.
4⭐️ The Nameless city is located between the mountains, and as such is constantly being fought over.A city son is currently in charge of the army, but it wont bring lasting peace. And there are two kids who have been working behind the scenes to make life better for all. I have enjoyed the ride of this GN series. I am sad to see it end, but it is a fitting end. The final fight, the new characters, and the transition from childhood to adult life.
Faith Erin Hicks brings her nonmagical fantasy trilogy to a close with all the thoughtfulness and heart I've come to expect. There are no easy answers here. The characters must interrogate and defend their positions, and they're all willing to make sacrifices as they fight to create their ideal world. It's beautiful, affecting stuff, shot through with plenty of action and shards of humour.
Y'all want to read it, but start with THE NAMELESS CITY.
I am reading this now. It‘s book 3 of a series but each book stands nicely on its own.

These days I use NetGalley more as a means of building my library list than as an actual reviewers' tool, but I hit Request hard and fast when THE DIVIDED EARTH came up. It's the sequel to THE NAMELESS CITY and THE STONE HEART, which are among the best comics I've read these last few years. #comics
