The first in the High Society Lady Detective Series. This was a decent first book in the series. The characters need to be fleshed out a bit, but it moved quickly. The narrator did a great job.

First finish for #SuperSeptember

EadieB Thanks for participating in the readathon. Good job finishing your book 📖 3y

Thought this one was just okay. A little underwhelming and I guessed the “twist” really early on in the book.

Has anyone read this series? Is it worth continuing? Because at this point, I‘m not planning to read anymore books in this series.

katy4peas They are all very similar to this one. I really enjoyed them, but the tone is the same in all of them and if you thought it was too easy of a mystery, you will probably think the same of the others. 🤷‍♀️ 4y

My #currentread while I sow some masks for family members. All I really want to do is eat pizza and watch The Umbrella Academy. 😔 I just keep on telling myself that it‘s to keep my family safe, so I can wait to indulge.

It‘s a good mystery so far. 🙂👍🏽 🕵️‍♀️

I listened to book 1 in this cozy mystery series via audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys murder mysteries, the Roaring Twenties and/or historical fiction. Will definitely be reading more of the series. 4⭐️

Mollyanna You‘re welcome! ☺️ 5y
katy4peas @hannah-leeloo I keep trying to start another book series, but nobody else is Olive and they can‘t live up to her standards right now. 😂 sigh 5y
hannah-leeloo @katy4peas oh no. When I'm like that I try and find a similar connection too. Not always easy for sure. Keep strong haha ❤️ 5y
erzascarletbookgasm The synopsis of the book sounds good! Stacking! 5y
katy4peas @erzascarletbookgasm The series really hooked me. Definitely a cozy mystery, but I like the characters and the time period. The plots are fun with twists and turns, I can listen to each book within several hours and there is an historical note at the end from the author for each one. I also liked the narrator. Worth an afternoon listen or read! 😊 5y
katy4peas @hannah-leeloo haha. Thanks! 😁 5y

An entertaining, light mystery. It's the first in a series, which I will continue to read. Love this time period.

Love it when a book starts with a map or floorplan. Even better, this one is legible on my Kindle, which is not usually the case.

umbrellagirl I love a good floor plan! 5y

While not at the level of achievement I see with the Masie Dobbs series (IMHO), still an entertaining British cozy. Unemployed former society girl looking for income successfully performs some family detective work. I‘m glad I listened on audio as I feel the narrator‘s voice lent a bit more interest, particularly since I rarely read/enjoy cozies (I like my #mystery with a bit more grit). But all in all, an enjoyable listen. 3/5 ⭐️

Finished listening to this romp of a high society murder, including a determined female detective in 1923, post WWI, when jazz, cocktails & riotous parties were the norm. Reminiscent of The Great Gatsby. Easy listening.

#bfc:1 book finished, so far 2.10 mile walk yesterday. Hope to fit another walk in today.
