#JulyJourneys

Yesterday May have been #SimplicityDay but it was a Monday & I taught class all day & there was nothing simple about it. That‘s great why I am catching up on yesterday‘s prompt today with some “simple” & “simply” titled cookbooks from my cookbook collection, including some from the Donna Hay “Simple Essentials” series in the bottom corner.🧑🏼‍🍳📚💙

Eggs What a collection!!! 3y

I might be obsessed with the differences between UK & US covers!

https://www.epicurious.com/expert-advice/british-vs-us-cookbook-covers-article?u...

wanderinglynn Interesting article. For the most part, I like the British covers better because, as the article points out, those covers better illustrate the book. I wouldn‘t buy the U.S. version of Simple because those dishes on it don‘t illustrate simple to me. But the lemon cover does. 5y
JillR I only realised there was a difference when I joined Litsy! It wasn‘t something I‘d ever really thought about before. I‘m now intrigued by the differences (and get cross if I prefer the US cover (I‘m UK)!) 5y
Scochrane26 @JillR I get upset because I sometimes prefer the UK cover (I‘m US). And I‘ve learned about Waterstones‘ special editions from Litsy. 5y

veritysalter My favourite cookbook - the sirloin and basil salad is gorgeous. NOPI is one of my favourite places to eat when I visit London too. ♥️Ottolenghi (edited) 5y
Mitch @wanderinglynn I know what you mean- the graphics of the lemon scream simple 5y
Mitch @JillR I‘ve been know to order US copies - just because ive preferred the cover! 5y
Mitch @Scochrane26 they are super pretty - Foyles does some wonderful exclusive editions too. 5y
wanderinglynn @Scochrane26 yes! I often prefer the U.K. covers. And it‘s bad enough we don‘t have Waterstones, but we also miss out on their special editions! 5y
Hooked_on_books My internet is glitching too much right now to see all the pictures, but I find I often prefer the U.K. covers of books. Apparently I live in the wrong place. 🤔 Which ones did you prefer here? 5y

#BookMail Pt12 Another cookbook with easy to follow recipes that look very tasty. The recipes in this are graded by how simple they are to do which is awesome. Plus there‘s chapters about cooking times, mixing flavors and more. Definitely will be trying a lot of these meals. Yum.🥘🥗🥧🧁

Cinfhen Hi!!!! How are you feeling??? Haven‘t seen you on Litsy in forever....and Ottolenghi is amazing!!! 5y
Lizpixie @Cinfhen 🙋🏻‍♀️I‘ve had a setback with my health and had to take a break from the internet(screen headaches)but I‘m slowly adapting to my new normal. How have you been my sister from another mister! I have heard he‘s amazing, this is the most popular cookbook in Australia atm. 5y
Crazeedi Glad to hear you are doing some better, must be hard to deal with not being able to look at screens. Hope you are on an upward path now 5y
CarolynM I love the Ottolenghi recipes❤️ 5y

I did fail to mention when I confessed to buying a cookbook at Anthropologie on Friday that this beauty was on its way to my house.🤗I've been salivating over it for months & months & kept putting it on library hold so when I got a $25 Amazon gift card for filling out a survey/review, I finally caved & bought it. It arrived yesterday, joining my other Ottolenghi books. 💚The man is a genius with flavor.

4 stars for what we come to expect from the photography and fresh ingredient cooking of Ottolenghi. However, for my location and stage of life it‘s another coffee table book to drool over, not really cook from. I‘d pay a lot of $ to eat at his restaurant though!

Today's soup for #soupersundays is Puy Lentil & Eggplant Stew from Ottolenghi's newest cookbook. Easy & Ottolenghi's usual combination of great flavors & textures from the lentils to the silky eggplant & sweet bursts from the tomatoes. I replaced the creme fraiche on top with labne (thickened yogurt). Really good. I can tell that I will be buying this cookbook when my copy goes back to the library. 🥄📚❤️ Link to 🍲recipe with my changes is 👇🏻

cariashley Ooh delicious! Love him. I‘m pretty sure I had the same charred tomatoes/cold yogurt dish on the cover at his newest London restaurant in Sep and it was SO good. 6y
DebinHawaii @cariashley That's one of the dishes I tagged to make from the book. It sounds fabulous! 😋 6y

Fruitful stop at the library earlier. The middle books were due back today but I got to renew them (good because The Cooking Gene is for my virtual foodie book club) & the top book is in my to-read stack & I'm the first to check it out. The best is the tagged book-the newest by one of my very favorite chefs. I know I'll end up buying it but it's always nice to try it out first & I'm the first check out on it too.🎉#newlibrarybooklove 📚❤️#bookhaul

CarolynM Love those Ottolenghi recipes 6y
kgriffith Virtual foodie book club?? Tell me more... 🤓 6y
DebinHawaii @CarolynM Me too! He's one of my favorites. 😘📚 6y
