Mehso-so

I kinda hated this book. But I think I am a real outlier in this case. It is kind of a bookish equivalent to Forest Gump which I also hated... I know, what is wrong with me!?!?

An overweight, middle aged sad sack man goes on a tragicomical journey across the country on his bike to find his mentally ill sister and save her. Along the way he has adventures and meets a cast of eccentric characters. #Iran #RedroseSeptember

arlenefinnigan I hate to be pedantic but having a bike on the cover of a book with 'running' in the title doesn't seem right. 5y
Aimeesue I definitely have to be in the right mood for those sorts of books. I tend to prefer questing cranky old people meeting various characters to sad sack protagonists, though. 🤷🏽‍♀️ 5y
Ruthiella @arlenefinnigan 😂I know, right? 5y
Ruthiella @Aimeesue I agree this is a book for which the reader has to be in the right mindset to enjoy. I need to read the cranky old person variation and see how I fare!😀 5y

Looking forward to all these I snagged from the library. The big question is, which one should I read first? Hmmmm...

When I go upstairs into my library to get a specific book and come back down carrying a big stack of them. 😂📚😝

JSW Doesn't everyone do this? 8y
Gleefulreader I feel like I spend at least my 1/2 my time shuffling stacks of books from one part of the house to the other. I may only be able to physically read one at a time but that doesn't stop me carrying four or five from room to room! 8y
Coleen The Memory of Running is a good choice! 8y

So many people have told me they love this book. Today I FINALLY got my hands on a copy. 🤘🏻📚🤘🏻

TheLudicReader Stephen King loves it, too. He wrote about it in EW years ago, which is how it ended up on my tbr list. 8y
ElizabethSensa I enjoyed this book! Hope you find it to be a good read! 8y
Suzze Read that on King's recommendation years ago. Loved it! 8y

DrexEdit I also picked it up due to SK's EW recommendation. It was only available as an audio book read by the author. It was fantastic. To this day it is one of the few fiction books I've seen my husband read and he *still* talks about it! 8y
rdkate Loved that book! Enjoy! 8y
Readingrobin What a great story that was. I heard the author speak when this book was the Reading Across Rhode Island pick. 8y
Hoopiefoot It's SO GOOD! Enjoy! 8y
mkindness I still haven't read it, even though it's set in the area where I live... 8y
