1️⃣ I have always wanted to learn how to crochet or knit. I always think of buying those little how-to kits but don‘t think I would follow through on my own! 🧶
2️⃣ The tagged book is the first in a YA fantasy trilogy set at Miss Castwell‘s Institute for the Magical Instruction of Young Ladies. It‘s especially fun on audiobook.🪄✨
Consider yourself tagged if you want to join in! 😉
How old are these kids? I hate when teenagers are written all over the place. I mean they are in real life but this felt so inconsistent. I almost got behind the world. I could almost get behind the writing. Just not quite. Granted this is young adult, obviously, but just didn‘t move at the right pace for me.

Catching up by combining two prompts #schooltheme z& #bonfire This series is set at Miss Castwell‘s Institute for the Magical Instruction of Young Ladies & fire plays a role in the magic, including a mention of a sort of cake bonfire…
“Mum rarely let me have birthday candles after an incident on my tenth birthday in which the flames somehow ignited the much-scrimped-for birthday treat into a butter-fueled inferno.” 🔥🎂🔥

I went to my #Audible library for this #schooldays prompt. All of these are set in boarding schools, many magical. I am currently reading & listening to The Broken Girls & loved the tagged book—the first in a series & enjoyed The Mystery of Alice. The bottom room is still in my #TBR stack.
I really enjoyed this story. It had a lot of similar aspects to Harry Potter with being set at a magic school. I liked the characters and thought it was very fun and entertaining!

Playing catch up again. 😬
“What was it about magic that could drain a person‘s health away so completely? It seemed so counter-intuitive that a force that was supposed to give so much to your life was able to make it so miserable. “

Not much time for reading this month due to work, work events, a cold, & 10-day house guests but I managed to finish 6 books + 1 cookbook & I got midway through 2 more.
No 5⭐️ reads but all 3 audio books were standouts. I managed to post on Litsy daily & complete 2 monthly challenges: #QuotsyFeb20 with @TK-421 & #FebruaryFeels with @Eggs

Although this YA series is not as snort-laugh inducing as the author‘s other series, it is charming & fun. Magical Guardians are the elite & non-magical snipes serve them. A young snipe girl finds out she has magic & the matriarch of the family she serves hides her as a long-lost niece so both families don‘t suffer. Sarah/Cassandra is sent to magical boarding school. Loved the characters & Narrator Amanda Ronconi is excellent. 1st book in series.
A lighter book for #audiosouping today, it‘s been on my audiobook #TBR for ages. Molly Harper‘s YA series. Enjoying the magic & boarding school setting & it‘s fun to hear her usual narrator Amanda Ronconi doing a British accent when I‘m so used to her southern one for Harper‘s other series. The soup is another Ellie Krieger from Whole In One: Mushroom Stroganoff Soup (noodles, sour cream & milk to be added). Finished soup pics coming later. 😋🍲
I really enjoyed this book. It was like a proper British tea wth scones and all. It had magic and a boarding school with dark secrets and some catty girls. It was a very cute YA story, the characters were likable, and the ending was fabulous.

Great start to a series. I loved the story and the characters. The MC was such a surprise. I thought for a bit she would let others continue to push her around but I can she that she is turning into a strong young woman. Can't wait to read the next book! 5⭐
A close up of the wooden bookmark from @AmyG - a perfect item for my #screamathonswap
This was the first book in Molly Harper‘s Sorcery and Society series. It‘s a gaslamp fantasy set in a world where society is divided between the Guardian upperclass who have magic, and the Snipe underclass who do not. When Sarah, a sickly Snipe girl, suddenly performs magic in front of her Guardian employer she is suddenly thrust into a treacherous new world. She is given a new identity and sent off to a prestigious magical boarding school.
A fairly standard magical school story, (I guess that‘s a genre now). But a fun, diverting read.
Daffodils are blooming here! After 7 days of rain, it was so great to see the sun! #litsywalkers #audiowalking
This is a really fun light fantasy that pulls a lot of really enjoyable and commonly used tropes. The audiobook narrators are fantastic and the comedic lines are delivered perfectly! I am always a sucker for a girl finding the Draco of the school and then deciding to hang with her Ron and Hermione instead and then they stand together to defeat a great evil!
I've just heard too little of this book. I'm curious!
