Might just finish this one today!
Two books finished for #BookSpinBingo! You‘ll Grow Out Of It was amazing, and I loved it from start to finish! I originally picked it up simply for the adorable cover, and I am so glad I did. Jessie Klein writes about her love of comedy, her past and current relationships, and her journey through infertility. I adored it. ♥️

This book had me LAUGHING OUT LOUD, it‘s probably the funniest book I‘ve ever read, also one of the most clever and relatable. Jessi Klein writes about the pressures of being a woman and talks honestly about not feeling like you‘re enough—not confident enough, not beautiful enough, not brave enough, but she does it with humor and levity. Recommend!
I really enjoyed this book. Jessi Klein talks about transforming from a tomboy to a woman in a very relatable voice. She‘s funny and self-deprecating. She is someone you‘d want to be friends with. During this time of self-isolation, I felt like I was spending time with a friend. Highly recommended.
Found a few books at Dollar Tree today ... first up this one.
I‘ve seen and heard about this one hopefully it‘s good.
Hi Litsy 👋🏻 Sorry for being bad at posting. Since I‘ve been here last, I got a new full time job as a YA librarian! So far it‘s been fun but really busy and challenging. I haven‘t had so much time to read, but I‘m still going strong with audiobooks during my commute - here‘s what I‘m reading now!
I was flailing for awhile this month, choosing an audiobook - starting and casting aside several that just weren‘t doing it for me. I‘m SO GLAD Anne Jones mentioned You‘ll Grow Out of It on a recent episode of her From the Front Porch podcast! Indeed, this was HILARIOUS and made me guffaw repeatedly. ‘Ma‘am‘ was probably my favorite chapter- highly recommend 👍👍
This was disappointing. From everything about it it seemed it was going to be about a woman finding humor in being a non-traditional feminine woman. Instead it's about a woman who desperately wants to be the traditional idea of femininity. So for me, who says fuck you to gender norms, this was almost painful to read. Except from a technical standpoint it's really well written and not painful to read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was unfamiliar with comedy writer and stand up comedian Jessi Klein prior to this, but I grabbed it on a friend‘s recommendation. Humorous personal stories are an audio dream. Klein amuses with essays about female expectations (both general and specific), her comedy career, and fertility struggles. My favorite essay was “Get the Epidural.” I wish I hadn‘t waited until hour 11 for mine. This collection was just what I needed. 👇🏻
About midbook i abandoned ship. I know I will finish it, but perhaps an essay a day. I'm sitting here listening to this author complain about things she's blessed to have. I don't think she sees it as such. It's just life...a very privileged one. The cover of the book is cool though (the lipstick)
Maybe because our life experiences have been so different, but this collection of essays made me feel sorry for Jessi Klein. She came across to me as judgemental (of herself and others) and unhappy. While she was brutally honest in this book she didn't need to be. For example, I can't help but think her son will not ever want to know she masturbated to porn while pregnant with him. But, what do I know? To each her own.
This memoir/essay collection by comedy writer and comedian Jessi Klein really didn‘t work for me. While funny in places, I really couldn‘t relate to her. She comes across as not knowing herself terribly well and finds substance use funny in a way it isn‘t. There are some good spots, or this would have been a pan.
I am loving the cover of You‘ll Grow Out Of It! 👄
I had never heard of Jessi Klein before so I went into this with no expectations, which was probably best. Apparently she‘s a stand up comedian, so one would think this would be really funny, but I only found it mildly amusing. For someone who calls herself a feminist, there‘s a disturbingly staggering amount of gross generalizations about gender, and gender stereotypes. This was superficial and just kind of meh. Not terrible, just not very good.
I‘m starting this one on Audible today. I‘ve gotten so much into the habit of listening to audiobooks anytime I do things around the house, that the thought of doing laundry without one is anxiety inducing. 😂
Finished this last week. These were essays about the author‘s life. It was a fun read for my commute but not much more than that. I thought it would be funnier. She talks a lot about being a woman and growing up as a tomboy so I‘m going to use it for #booked2018 #bodypositivememoir
Went on a 4 mile #audiorun with this book. Super windy but in the 40‘s and sunny. It was so nice to be outside! This book is pretty entertaining so far. 🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️
Funny and truthful, Jessi Klein talks about her life from work and comedy to trying to have kids. Essays on her life that are related but not all in order.
I really enjoyed comedienne Jessi Klein‘s sharp, funny essay collection, ranging in topics from wedding dress shopping to baths. I never knew footnotes could be so hilarious. Bonus recommendation: Jessi voices one of the characters on Netflix‘s comedy series Big Mouth, for which the tagline is, “coming of age all over the place.” 😂 It‘s been one of my favorite shows this year.
I happened upon this audiobook by chance. It was available at the library. I needed a new audiobook. I had heard of it a time or two. I found this funny, smart, and at times it made me uncomfortable in a "I can't believe she said that out loud" kinda way. Which is entirely the point.
That one time I got a wild goose hair up my butt and decided to fold all this laundry while drinking my morning coffee.
Now just sitting here listening to my audiobook, sipping, and wondering who is going to put it all away. 😂
Finished this fantastic memoir on my #audiorun today. I absolutely loved it and was laughing out loud throughout; such a pleasant surprise as I couldn‘t remember why I even downloaded it. I‘m also happy to be back up to running 3 miles, albeit slowly, after several years of laziness! 😊🏃♀️
Nothing special. An easy listen if you just want something to distract you while doing the dishes.
If you enjoyed Jessi Klein's essay collection, do yourself a favor and listen to her conversation with Casey Wilson on The Longest Shortest Time #podcast. Funny and thoughtful! (Also why is the cropping feature the worst??)
Almost done with Jessi Klein's collection of essays. She's funny, and I've enjoyed listening, but I find her insecurities grating after a while, so I've had to listen in small chunks. Her essay on all women being inherently "wolves" or "poodles" got especially on my nerves. ??♀️I'm just not a fan of categorizing people like that.
Great #audiobook narrated by the author. Funny and has great potential to create a new t-shirt for women "#Get The Epidural!"
Short, sweet, and very funny. Memoir in essay/anecdote form in the vein of Lena Dunham or Tina Fey.
#dying 😆 also I had to crop my power bill out of the photo god I'm such a wolf but if you've read the book you probably are too
To me there has always been something vaguely miserable about bathing. The soaking, the sitting, the water getting dirty and cold, then inevitable random hair floating up against your skin, the pruning. It always makes me feel like I am stewing up the worlds saddest soup out of myself.
Started this audiobook on the drive back from dropping my daughter back at college. I must have looked like an idiot to the other drivers- I was alone in the car and laughing so hard! Such a funny book!
Meh....😐, some of the essays in this book were pretty funny, others didn't quiet hit the mark with me. Still, it was a fast, amusing read. #LitsyAtoZ #MyYPick
Frequently clever and amusing, occasionally laugh out loud funny, and always painfully honest. Bonus: who knew that -- although I'm not a New York Jew -- Jessi and I had so much in common? I've been a fan since I saw her on The Showbiz Show with David Spade, though I never knew much about where she came from or went afterward. Haven't enjoyed a memoir from a female comedian this much since Bossypants.
'The number one symptom of being old is caring whether someone thinks you're old.'
This one was just okay for me. A few essays had me laughing, especially the one about poodles vs. wolves. However, I didn't feel like Klein's is a unique enough voice to warrant a memoir, and ultimately this wasn't terribly memorable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️loved the story about wanting to smear cake all over her ex bf's apartment 😂
A comedian's enjoyable memoir; plus the audiobook is narrated by the author. For fans of Amy Schumer (Klein writes for her show) and Tina Fey.
... but everything I tried on made me look like someone half-assing a Stevie Nicks Halloween costume, and at the end of my appointment my friend Kate and I fled to go get drunk.
Jessi Klein: I went on WebMD, always the right thing to do..."
I'm not really sure how to rate this one. I loved some chapters. Others bored me to tears. But more often than not, the author's humour made me laugh out loud and that's always a good thing. Plus I really liked her fun, down-to-earth writing style.
I am loving the mother-f-ing crap out of this book! SO many quotable lines but I'm listening to the audio so I need to get my hands on the print copy before I share my faves.
