I had to take my box to work with me because I was rushing out the door this morning 😂 and oh my gosh, thank you so much @cwarnier for these thoughtful book selections and adorable gifts! I can‘t wait to get home and put on a pair of these cozy socks and read!! The tagged book looks especially interesting- I‘m excited to read it! 🥳#readinthenewyearswap

Took a walk today, finishing up this audiobook. I‘m pretty convinced that I‘ll be off social media in 2020, although I will make an exception for Litsy (for now). This book does a great job of explaining what is wrong with the social media in the big picture (disinformation, surveillance, and behavior manipulation), not just the small picture that we‘re all aware of (it‘s a time waster that makes us sad).

My current audiobook loans from Libby 🥰. I just hit 50 books read for 2019, and I couldn‘t have done it without audiobooks, since I‘ve been doing so much driving. My current commute is about 50 minutes each way, but I‘ve come to think of it as valuable me time with the help of audiobooks, podcasts, and Taylor Swift CDs 🤣

I loved so much about this, like the characters and the chemistry between them, but the plot sort of fizzles towards the end, focusing way too much on the relationship and not enough on Dimple‘s coding project, which is supposed to be the biggest deal with her but ends up feeling like an after thought. It felt like all the author knew about app development was the word “wireframe” 😂 The ending also felt too neat & tied up in a bow for me.

I usually don‘t do fiction in audio book form, but Daisy Jones & The Six was made for this format. I‘m loving this so much and totally binge listening today as I do chores around the house (so grateful to have the day off!) I hope you all are having a great Thanksgiving weekend ❤️

I finished two books this weekend: An American Marriage by Tayari Jones and Smile by Raina Telgemeier. Both were enjoyable, but An American Marriage is definitely now a front runner for my favorite reads of the year. It is so beautifully written and I fell in love with every character.

SamAnne Just started American Marriage today and am completely swept up in the writing. 5y

I treated myself to a slow morning spending an hour reading this book over breakfast. IT IS SO GOOD and putting it down to drive to work was a struggle. Reading slump over!

Thanks for your suggestions, guys! I decided the only way to get over this slump is to force myself to read until I‘m doing it naturally again. So...no more social media (with the exception of Litsy) until I finish these library books. This is twofold: I want to read more, and I want to waste less time on Instagram. Wish me luck!

Hey Litsy 👋🏻 I‘ve been in kind of a reading slump. I‘ve been working as a librarian for over a month now, and I‘ve hardly been reading 😹. I have finished a few audiobooks, but it hurts to be surrounded by books all day and never read them. So. Trying to get back into it. I‘m gonna post a few books I‘m reading/planning to read to get over the slump now. Tell me: how do you get over reading slumps?

marleed I change genres and that really seems to help me. Also changing publication years helps me. 5y
Reagan I bail with zero guilt. When I am not in a slump I tend to give it a bit more time but when I am in a slump I am brutal! 5y
saltwaterlit @Reagan-reads good point! A lot of times when I‘m in a slump I am in the middle of a book I don‘t like and can‘t get through! 5y

Next up in audiobook land! I‘m desperate for more time to read actual books with my eyes but I‘m busy so at least I have time for audiobooks! The problem is I only really like non-fiction audiobooks. So I‘ve been reading a lot of non-fiction but I miss novels so much. This week my goal is to put down my phone before bed and try to read a novel instead. I‘ll keep you posted on that 😬

Hi Litsy 👋🏻 Sorry for being bad at posting. Since I‘ve been here last, I got a new full time job as a YA librarian! So far it‘s been fun but really busy and challenging. I haven‘t had so much time to read, but I‘m still going strong with audiobooks during my commute - here‘s what I‘m reading now!

My current audio pick is a re-read. I read this in paperback a few years ago when I first started running. It‘s interesting how my experience has changed now that I‘ve been running for a while, and now I‘m a marathoner! It is still not convincing me to ditch my sneakers, but it is planting the idea of trail running in my head 🤔

Not only have I not had time for Litsy in the last few weeks, I‘ve struggled to find the time to run. Running is a hobby for me, but it‘s also so much more than that. Next week I start training for half marathon #6 🎉, and this book is helping me remember why I love running!

Bailedbailed

Yeah, read two more stories and decided to bail. The writing here really grated on me, with a lot of sentences that go nowhere, and seem to exist just to impress. I‘m not a prude, but sex was also used as a poetic device in ways that really made me roll my eyes and only make the characters and stories feel underdeveloped. #dnf

This was okay, but it felt oddly stitched together. There are likely better books about grieving out there, and although I‘m interested in resilience, everything in this book is basically in the book Grit and Brené Brown‘s work.
