#LuckyInLove Day4 is Bouquet 💐

When I was a teen I was obsessed with RL Stine. I would buy every book I could find and devour them immediately.

I love that Stine is writing more modern books for today's teens (let's face it though, he's writing for us almost 40's who grew up on him)

I didn't love this story as much as I expected but by the end it was growing on me. What I do love is that no matter how much time has passed, the writing stays the same 🤣

I'm not generally one for a #Creature Feature (though I DO enjoy a good vampy book now and then) but I've been craving some old school scares and put a ton of Stine on hold. I mean, who actually does it better?

Book 101🎧 3⭐️

This story is told in 2 time lines, both on the wedding day of a Fier sister. Little sister Harmony isn‘t going to give up so easily when her sister goes missing the morning of the wedding. & another body is found over the cliffs edge😱

So I put my #screamathon2020 list together. These are books I currently own. But it‘s not exhaustive. Just ones I‘m most interest in reading.

See any you like?

Bookworm54 Rot and ruin is on my tbr too :) 4y
LibrarianRyan @Bookworm54 I‘ve read others of his books but not that one yet. I got a copy from a friend a few years ago. 4y
Sweetkokoro Can I ask what each of your coordinating colors mean? I use color coordination in my journals too but I‘m curious how others use it. 4y
See All 13 Comments
LibrarianRyan It changes page by page. But here green is YA. Blue is Adult. Teal is GN. Pink is picture book. 4y
LibrarianRyan @Sweetkokoro I‘ll take a pick of some of my other pages after lunch. (My Book is sitting on my desk right now). 4y
LibrarianRyan @Sweetkokoro I lied. Teal is middle grade. Purple is GN. (edited) 4y
Sweetkokoro @LibrarianRyan Ah I like that idea, I was thinking it was something along those lines but wasn‘t sure. And I look forward to seeing some other pages you have done and how. I‘m still new to journaling. 4y
LibrarianRyan @Sweetkokoro so am I. I got board last week. I normally keep paper lists and I just happened to have a graph paper notebook sitting in front of me. I have no real plans, just as I go. 4y
alisiakae Wow! I‘m going to have to screenshot and zoom in to read the titles, because apparently my eyesight is shot this week (way too much time on the computer!). Can‘t wait to take a closer look at your titles! 4y
alisiakae I am thinking of re-reading Labyrinth Lost, and then finishing the trilogy, loved it the first time I read it! 4y
LibrarianRyan @4thhouseontheleft I agree it's hard to read, even in person. The lines on the paper are so dark. If you are on a desk top it's not to bad to read. And I have added 3 more books since I took this picture. 4y
Bookzombie @Bookworm54 @LibrarianRyan I love the Rot and Ruin series. I have enjoyed most, if not all, of Maberry‘s that I have read so far. 4y
Bookzombie I‘m considering Blood Countess for my list too. 4y

This book was not particularly well-written, though the last five chapters or so made me remember why I used to love Fear Street books so much.

This follows the typical formula for the Fear Street books, but since its modern day it lacks the nostalgia feelings. 😂

Drove through our snow-crap-ular weather, donated plasma, & made it home! Now I can finally have my essential morning coffee and start this lovely book which will no doubt make me nostalgic.

I haven't been able to read too much for enjoyment lately, but it is needed today and this seems like the perfect book! #FearStreet #SaturdayRead

Hoping to squeeze in one more book before the year ends! Enjoying a cup of coffee and #Shadow snuggles on this foggy day here in Seattle! Hoping the fog burns off soon. I have things I need to do! #Shippy @Zelma

What are your NYE plans?

Gramworth Sleep! My husband can wake me up to see the ball drop... then I‘ll go back to sleep! 😂 6y
MinDea @Gramworth 😆😆😆 That's usually what happens here too! We wake up kust in time for the ball or completely miss it. 🤷 6y
dariazeoli I usually watch Anderson Cooper but the NYE show with Andy Cohen was so bad last year! I may sleep through the ball drop this year. 6y
Zelma We did a bunch of cleaning out stuff, burn pile, etc. now watching college football and maybe will play a board game later. No plans to stay up for midnight. I‘m going to read in bed and be asleep by 11. 😁 6y

I was really excited when I saw this on my library‘s new books list, and enjoyed the first few chapters. Unfortunately, by about the 100-page mark the rough pacing got to me, to the point where I almost didn‘t finish the book. Won‘t be reading the sequel, but it‘s inspired me to find some of the ‘90s books. 2/5 #novemberreads #horror #nostalgiareads #YA

I desperately want to like new RL Stine. I was obsessed when Fear Street first came out. I tried Red Rain when t came out and it was meh. I was psyched for this one but jeez... just not good. An easy read but honestly just kind of boring, and predictable. The end was a wash. I was disappointed and I won‘t keep trying. Just not the glory days of Fear Street!

I was so excited that after 20 years, R.L. Stine was bringing back his Fear Street series. I loved them when I was a teenager. I had to read the first book in the revival immediately but quickly realized that I'm not a teenager anymore, and my reading interests have changed. I didn't hate this book, but I just think it is for a certain age group that isn't mine.

mabell Pretty bookshelves! 😍 6y
MinDea I am feeling the same way about his books but I just can't seem to stop reading them when they come out. 😆😆 I just used to live his Fear Street books growing up and so it's just nostalgia for me but yeah they aren't what they used to be as reading tastes have changed. 6y
