More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search for a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to earth long ago. Enter the Hell Diversmen and women who risk their lives by diving to the surface to scavenge for parts that keep their homes in the air. When one of the two surviving airships is damaged in an electrical storm, a Hell Diver team is deployed to a hostile zone called Hades. But theres something down there thats far worse than the mutated creatures discovered on dives in the pastsomething that threatens the fragile future of humanity.

Nothing remotely hopeful about this book haha. That being said I loved the concept and it‘s a very fast paced, suspenseful apocalyptic novel. I wish we were told more about the creatures but I‘m sure that will come in later books. This is similar to Game of Thrones in the sense that you don‘t want to get attached to anyone. They probably won‘t make it. This can be read as a stand alone, but I‘m curious to see what happens next in this world.

TheBookAddict Yes! You get to know more about the creatures as the series goes on. A very thrilling and suspenseful series. I listened to the audiobooks and they were good. I believe I‘m on book 4 (well, I haven‘t started it yet). Hope you enjoy it if you decide to keep reading. 5y
MidnightBookGirl Cool! I think I got the audiobook free from Libro! 16pts! 5y

RainyDayReading @TheBookAddict I picked this up because my boyfriend loves this series so I‘m sure he‘ll make me finish them at some point haha. It is extremely suspenseful. I kept think “oh at the end of this chapter I‘ll go do chores” well that never happened because the chapters ended on cliffhangers 🤣 5y
RainyDayReading @MidnightBookGirl My boyfriend listened to these on audio and he said that he really liked the narrator they got for it. So hopefully it‘ll be good for you if you ever listen to it! 5y
TheBookAddict @RainyDayReading 😆 yay for the boyfriend, smart man! @MidnightBookGirl yes! The audiobooks are awesome. R.C. Bray is a great narrator. He‘s also the narrator for The Martian. 5y
TheBookAddict Has your boyfriend listened to The Mountain Man series? It‘s narrated by R.C. Bray as well and it‘s a zombie series that‘s really good! 5y

I just wanted to say that RC Bray is a great narrator, and he really brings that extra umph to this story. I have a feeling if I was reading this story, I wouldn't like it as much. Only because my brain would be so stuck on the chaos that I would miss out on the subtle emotions of the characters at certain times.

Bookzombie I haven‘t listened to this one, but have enjoyed Bray as a narrator on others. 5y
KennethTolesJr @Bookzombie It's a really good story so far. No slow parts. I don't think you'll be disappointed. 5y

This was an exciting adventure into post WWIII Earth! The last humans live on airships that circle the Earth, and a group of “hell divers” jump off the ship to scavenge from what‘s left of Earth.

I started this SF/PA book earlier this week and my goal is to finish it off this weekend:

Earth has been salted with radioactivity after a global war. The only survivors are onboard 2 airships that send divers onto the surface to salvage supplies. But resources on the airships are right running very thin, cancer and flu are constant threats, and mutants have evolved on the wasteland...

Great start— So let‘s see where this goes!

Just getting into Hell Divers, not bad so far. Dystopian scifi; dystopian isn't usually my bag but this has been good.

I enjoyed reading/listening to The Girl Who Drank the Moon, but I thought the ending was too rushed. And I‘m currently obsessed with Hell Divers. I finished the first book in the series and immediately read the second book and now I‘m impatiently waiting for the third audiobook in the series. I‘ve already preordered it and can‘t wait to get it this month.

Thanks @Amy-Laura for hosting the #Bankholidaygiveaway!

Cosyreader That sounds good! 7y
TheBookAddict @Amy-Laura yes, it was quite interesting and R. C. Bray is one of my favorite narrators so that was a plus. They need to make a video game off of it! 😆🕹🎮 7y

Why does it not surprise me that Hades is Chicago? 😂 I had a hunch and once it was confirmed I chuckled. I was born and raised in Chicago so it was kind of funny to me.

I started listening to this one about a week ago. It is not my typical genre that I read (it was a daily deal on Audible that I bought a while back), so it has taken me a LONG time to get through it. #powerthrough #audio #listenup

Today's Audible daily deal looked too good to pass up.

I may be failing miserably at my 'buy less books' resolution, but I'm going to call it a win that I have *only* purchased 3 daily deals this week. 😳

Plus two books in the 2-for-1 sale... but that's a sale so it doesn't count. 😂😂😂

Moray_Reads 2 for 1 don't count, and audiobooks DEFINITELY don't. (Sometimes I don't include ebooks either) 8y
sprainedbrain @Moray_Reads I like your style! 👍 8y
Joybishoptx Is that 2 for 1 sale still going on? 8y

sprainedbrain @Joybishoptx yes! I think it ends 1/29. 8y
SuperPunkNinja @Moray_Reads Totally agree! 8y
Audiobookhead How is this one? 7y
sprainedbrain @Audiobookhead Well... I still haven‘t listened to it. 😳😬😂 7y
TheBookAddict @Audiobookhead it‘s really good if you like action packed post apocalyptic reads. It has diverse characters. The author holds back no punches and he shows the nitty gritty of the situation humans got themselves into. I don‘t know about the science and what not of it all so I can‘t say if it‘s plausible at all, but it sure is entertaining. It would be nice if they made this into a video game. Also, R. C. Bray is amazing. He‘s a fave! 7y

My post-apocalyptic readers have another series to follow. They already love Laybourne's Monument 14 and Higson's Enemy series, and Hell Divers is an action filled first book I think they'll enjoy. Monsters weren't nearly as intense as Higson's Enemy series, but I could see that changing in future installments. No doubt that would thrill my post-apocalyptic readers while giving me nightmares at the same time. 🐓😳🙈

Post-apocalyptic books are huge amongst my readers. Saw the promos for this book and pre-ordered for my post-apocalyptic fans. After first 30 pages, I'm enjoying my first Sansbury Smith book. I need to admit though, I'm a big 🐓, so I'm hoping the monster aspect of this book isn't too intense!
