Boy at the Door
Boy at the Door | Alex Dahl
Set against a stunning Scandinavian backdrop, a gritty novel of psychological suspense that asks the question how far would you go to hold onto what you have? Cecilia Wilborg has it all--a loving husband, two beautiful daughters and a gorgeous home in the affluent Norwegian town of Sandefjord. And she works hard to keep it all together. Too hard. Because one mistake from her past could bring it all crashing down around her. Annika Lucasson lives a dark life with her abusive, drug-dealing boyfriend. She's lost everything one too many times and now she's got one last chance to save herself, thanks to Cecilia. Annika knows her secret--and just how much she's willing to do to make it all go away... When someone forgets to pick up their little boy at the local pool, Cecilia agrees to take him home, only to find an abandoned, empty house. It's the first step in the unraveling of her meticulously crafted life, as her and Annika's worlds collide...

Pretty good mystery. Not quite Scandi enough for me but I read the author is half Norwegian, half American, studied in England. Still, a good novel full of despicable characters.

Apparently one of my favorite reads from last year is on sale on amazon‘s kindle and iBooks today for $2.99! Check it out! You won‘t regret it! Very creepy and suspenseful Scandi-Noir! 😱⛈

BookBumming Five star read! Scandi Noir novel, The Boy At The Door by Alex Dahl.
I think being a parent made this book a little more horrifying than I may have found it if I didn‘t have a child. The main narrator (the story is told from 3 different perspectives) is extremely unlikeable and painfully unreliable..which only adds to the suspense and thrill of it all!!

BookBumming Alex Dahl being born in Oslo, the capital of Norway, has surely given her a knack for painting a stunning Scandinavian backdrop. After finishing the novel I feel like Alex Dahl truly took me to the places that her characters went whether I wanted to be there or not.

I just finished this book. It is a great novel. If you enjoy a gripping, complex mystery this is a definite must for you.

Lies and their consequences- that‘s what I am taking away from this book. Cecilia is definitely a flawed character and it was hard to have much sympathy for her. I did like the book overall- love the Scandinavian setting. I hope there will be more by this author.

⭐️⭐️⭐️: Good Nordic noir book about a little boy left at a swimming pool and the family that takes him home.

Cecelia had a perfect life with a perfect husband, two daughters, a beautiful home, and an enjoyable part-time job.

One night could change it all.

Excellent suspense debut.

Just finished reading this book.

Cecelia had a perfect life with a perfect husband, two daughters, a beautiful home, and an enjoyable part-time job.

One night changed it all.

Cecelia didn‘t want to take Tobias home, but she couldn‘t leave him at the school alone. Taking him home was the worst thing that could have happened to her.

Thank you @BerkleyPub

Just finished this book last night. It is set in Norway.

FULL REVIEW WILL BE ON JULY 25, 2018.

"Cecelia had a perfect life with a perfect husband, two daughters, a beautiful home, and an enjoyable part-time job.

One night could change it all.

THE BOY AT THE DOOR is brilliantly written with a creative, odd story line that is a bit unbelievable, but oh so good and attention grabbing.

THE BOY AT THE DOOR is an excellent suspense debut. 4/5”

This is a brilliant debut that keeps you turning the pages. Although unrealistic at times the plot is quite a refreshing change and although the main characters are not likable at all the author has done an awesome job of making them feel real. This book is set Norway which was interesting and although dark at times there is also some humor in there also.
