Pickpick

A soft pick - I think I got this translated middle grade historical mystery as a Kindle freebie. I don‘t know how popular the series is in Sweden, but I think something gets lost in translation. The pacing is off and the prose is choppy. The ending is so abrupt. However, I liked the main characters and the setting. The main mystery leads to the discovery of other secrets that I‘m sure will be explored in future books.

This was such a cute middle grade mystery book!

I scored this off of Amazon-maybe a First Reads book? It was on my #ReadYourKindle list for this month and I inhaled this in two days.

It's Sweden, 1800's, winter and there's a serial killer on the streets. Orphan Mika and a policeman team up to solve the crime.

Definitely recommended!

2 Christmas books, a Kindle First Pick, and a romance book.

I'm starting the tagged book which is translated from Swedish and is a middle grade/J Fiction book. (My library calls them J Fiction so that's what I'm use to calling this grade level.)

This was a gripping story and surprisingly dense considering the length.

It seems ironic that the American editions of Ditlevsen's books all have her face on them, since she seems to have not been terribly impressed by her own appearance.

This was my #bookspin for July, a month late. @TheAromaofBooks

I love Lars Kepler, but I always forget how much until I read a new Kepler novel. Like his others, this one is head and shoulders above many of the other Thrillers out there ATM. The characters are well developed, the descriptions are purposefully thorough (it never feels like unnecessary "filler"), and the story is woven together gradually and intricately. The Mirror Man had me audibly gasping at times.

Just finished this book & I'm BLOWN away! 📚✨

This Joona Linna thriller starts with the chilling disappearance of Jenny Lind, whose body is found years later, pulling him into a dark, twisted mystery. Kepler's writing hooked me from the start, with perfect pacing & cliffhangers. The high tension & well-developed characters add depth, exploring themes of trauma & survival. Its a must-read for psychological thriller fans.
I highly recommend it!💫📖

It's Fine By Me: A Novel | Per Petterson

the only reason it's not zero stars is because the ending redeemed itself, but istg the mmc is just the combination of down-bad and daddy issues. (the funniest thing is, post ib exams, i hated this book but i used it for every paper 2 we did)
