1814 promises to be another eventful season, but not, This Author believes, for Anthony Bridgerton, London's most elusive bachelor, who has shown no indication that he plans to marry. And in all truth, why should he? When it comes to playing the consummate rake, nobody does it better...--Lady Whistledown's Society Papers, April 1814But this time the gossip columnists have it wrong. Anthony Bridgerton hasn't just decided to marry--he's even chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended's older sister, Kate Sheffield--the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom. The spirited schemer is driving Anthony mad with her determination to stop the betrothal, but when he closes his eyes at night, Kate's the woman haunting his increasingly erotic dreams...Contrary to popular belief, Kate is quite sure that reformed rakes to not make the best husbands--and Anthony Bridgerton is the most wicked rogue of them all. Kate's determined to protect her sister--but she fears her own heart is vulnerable. And when Anthony's lips touch hers, she's suddenly afraid she might not be able to resist the reprehensible rake herself...

I have no desire to ever read the #Bridgerton novels, but I love the series. This is the filming location of the dress shop, they use the interior as well. Right now, it‘s actually deli right in the center of #Bath, next to the big #Abbey. Bath ended up being a wonderful highlight of my trip to #London!

The second season of Bridgerton was a bit more different than the book, but it stuck to the most important parts. I like the book better, of course, because there‘s so much more depth to it. Kate and Anthony‘s relationship is much deeper and passionate in the book. I may have to put off the series until I finish the books. #SeriesLove2024 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

The inspiration for season two of BRIDGERTON, a series created by Shondaland for Netflix, from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn: the story of Anthony Bridgerton in the second of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring the charming, powerful Bridgerton family.

I didn't like this one as much as the first.
I found it a little slower. I did really like Kate, Anthony, not so much. I didn't find him very likable.
I can't wait to read the other books, though. They are entertaining for sure.

Definitely a series that needs to be read in order to fully grasp what is happening but it does appear that the show is quite close to the books so far, though I appreciate the diverse casting that isn't reflective of the book.

Downtown Abbey meets rom-com.
I was so pleasantly surprised!

I was delighted by the banter, the antics and the chemistry between the main characters. The dialogues and monologues were witty and so charmingly written. I didn't expect the characters to have so much depth and to experience also growth through the story.

It seems I fell for a new addiction

I liked the book. There are better scènes in the book that could have been used in the Tv serie.

I really like how Julia Quinn writes. She makes every part worth reading

though the start was a tad slow, and though it was nothing like the netflix series, i really enjoyed this book. i love that you don‘t know who whistledown is yet. i also adore kate and anthony. i love their love, and their slow burn. it‘s love that makes you appreciate life, and i think their honesty with each other and love is beautifully written. reading this book made me want to read the rest of the series!

this. it‘s all i really aim for in my hopeless romantical adventure to find my person. to share a love so strong you know it‘ll never run out. ugh.

If you told me a Romance would top my #2022ReadingBracket I probably would have laughed but here we are. I've fallen hard for the Bridgertons and feel like they may show up on the 2023 list as well!

Speaking of.....is there a 2023 reading bracket already created? This is so much fun and I'd love to do it again! I could make my own if need be. I forgot who made this one so I can credit them

CoverToCoverGirl @chasjjlee graciously created this one. I‘m also hoping another will be created too! 2y
brittanyreads Thank you!! @CoverToCoverGirl I hope to have another one also! @chasjjlee With permission, I wouldn't mind making a new template. Let me know! And thank you! Such a fun idea! 2y

Didn‘t really care for this one. I felt like it was the same story with different characters names. I liked the Netflix version better LOL
The caught in a compromising position, forced to marry, but really we are deeply in love thing doesn‘t work for multiple books.
The characters are really well developed either.

I am my best self when I am reading a book. I wonder if there is someone else out there who feels the same way. Books liberate me. Books make me feel that I am enough. Books make me feel that I have a purpose. For some, it‘s just paper; for me, it‘s everything.

I‘ve read 200 pages of the #viscountwholovedme and I started it yesterday night 📚👩🏻‍🏫💕

Meh. I thought the 2 main characters were too…not dramatic, but…too much with their fears/phobias. But then again, I haven‘t had their traumatic experiences.

Bridgerton #2 did not disappoint. Anthony is a bit of an idiot and Kate is naive but they got where they needed to go in a satisfying way. #74-2022

Love both Anthony and Kate, they were such a fun couple to see.

The Murder at the Vicarage (4.5⭐) was my pick for Aug.

In full transparency, I had two 5⭐ reads in Aug that I'll tag below. One was nonfiction and one was a GN. To stay consistent I chose a novel to compete in the bracket even though it wasn't my top Aug pick.
Pitting a GN/nonfiction against a novel is too tough for me as they are too different. Incomparable IMO.

The Viscount continues to reign supreme! 👑

Which was the one thing he feared most.

Perhaps the only thing he feared at all.”
