Unpopular opinion for this YA gothic horror story, I liked this book more than the first one. New drama and a different, more mature Louise.The reunion at Coldthistle will introduce new characters and we will know other aspects about Mr. Morningsude. It still have some repetitive parts but it will end in a cliffhanger. 3.5⭐️Love the book cover

This sequel was just as fast paced as the first book. Though the spooky factor isn't as high, it still has the dark and gothic setting of Coldthistle House. I loved the more in depth exploration of different paranormal creatures and learning more about the MC Louisa. Mr Morningside is still my favourite character. The ending kind of wraps up well but there are still questions/a sense of something big happening, so I'm excited to read the finale.

I think California is becoming one of those “hold my beer” states! While out shopping for some #swaps at a local coffee and gift store I came across a new Hammond's flavor to try. It has all things I love - cola, milk chocolate AND pop rocks. Later, on if it lives up to expectations.
And, FINALLY, this book is getting me over the #bookhangover I was stuck in.

Maybe my third pick is the charm. I just can't decide what to read next. I'm having a bit of a #bookhangover. Not even a palate cleansing cozy could knock me out of it.
Or, I could just go back to some #audiocrocheting.

The second instalment in this series definitely surprised me with the direction it took. I was very intrigued and greatly enjoyed how it played out. I felt that a few things needed more clarification and expanding, but it was a solid story. I‘m definitely curious as to where the third book will end.

4/5 (just due to some minor pacing problems). A very fascinating sequel to “House of Furies”. Again, I looove the Gothic atmosphere & that it‘s set in the early 19th century. Also, so very ambitious, a lot going on! I love how it involves cross-cultural mythos, as well as insights into the evolution of religion & the nature of “good” & “evil”.

Why do they have to make cover changes when a series isn't over yet. Now my books don't match 😫. My cover for book 1 matches the original planned cover for book 2. They changed it before release though and now the rest of the series will match changes made for book 2. I like when all my books in a series match. Grrr.

I may be bias because I fallen in love with Madeleine Roux‘s work since I read the asylum series but this is certainly an amazing sequel to House of Furies. Her characters are beautifully written and it is hard to tell who to trust until the end of the book. Which I know is great, I despise books where it is easy to decipher the outcome. It is full of twists and turns and I couldn‘t put down for one second.
