So, so, good. Inventive and enjoyable.
For a sky-based story, the narrative was refreshingly down-to-earth. At first the clipped tone threw me off, but once I got into the story, it made perfect sense. Life for the inhabitants of Updraft is challenging and there isn't room for whimsy or poetic waxing.
The story is fantastical but it's a slow burning mystery coupled with a need for strong world building. That might make it feel slow to progress but it pays off well in the end.
