Just came home and this is sitting on my Porsche. Even better. I didn't order anything. Hummmmmm

josie281 On your Porsche! 🚘 😂 7y
LibrarianRyan @josie281 wow. Autocorrect must think I'm rich. Or just realize I'm extremely tired and not like to pick up mistakes. 7y
Mdargusch That‘s exciting! 7y

This NF book by Anne Schreiber is great for GR. The pages are full of information with all types of text features. You can easily teach text features while students learn about penguins and supports ESOL 12 by learning two objectives. Some of the pages features a joke about the penguins which I think students will love. There's even a picture glossary great for ELLs. While reading this book, most the information I

Floribelg remembered from watching March of the Penguins documentary. Just another resource to use to connect to the book. https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/articles/teaching-content/nonfiction-reading... the link provides multiple of nonfiction activities students can use to show their understanding supporting UDL 7.1 and 4.1 individual choice and vary options of response. #UCFLAE3414F17 (edited) 7y
Samantha.K I love penguins. They are so cute especially when they are the little baby penguins. I should read this so I can learn more information that I might not know about penguins. 7y
MakennaK Penguins are my favorite animals lol! I would definitely use this book in a science lesson about penguins! 7y

National Geographic Kids: Penguins! By Anne Schreiber is a NF book that provides factual information about penguins (my favorite animal!) , like where they live and what they eat. I believe it would work best as a SR, especially when introducing students to expository text as teacher can model how to identify and when to use NF text features such as the table of content, headers, and the glossary to maximize comprehension.

#UCFLAE3414F17

AshleyAA The lesson plan corresponds to the Penguins! Book and incorporates use of NF text factors in order for students to find information to complete a writing assignment. This meets UDL 2.2 and 6.3 that relate to clarifying text structure and facilitating how to manage information. It meets EL 8 and 30 that relate to using direct instruction and encouraging the use of diagrams and images for comprehension. 7y
jvinas2 I love that you have a plush with a NF book! That's an awesome little detail that I know kids would love, I'd love it too! 7y
DrSpalding Did you make that plush character too? You are quite talented. Utilizing the Florida approved educator site was a wise choice. 7y

Library visit today. He insisted on a picture with the penguin. We are in that weird fakey smile phase. #raisingreaders
(Also, go🐧🐧 if there's any 🏒🏒 fans out there.)

saresmoore My six-year-old is still in the fake smile phase, too! What is it about? She is so cute and photogenic until she poses then 😬... 7y
merelybookish @saresmoore I knew there'd be a parent out there that would know what I was talking about! All my kids have done it. For a year or so, every posed picture is a little bit ruined. 7y
Bookgirl Wait. They get out of fake smile phase and into braces. 😂 7y
kspenmoll Fakey smiley went on a long time in my house!!! 7y

Okay, I normally ALWAYS shop indie... but I heard about the discount code Amazon has up today for $8.63 off any order over $50. So I indulged in something I wanted for a while.

Code is BIGTHANKS if you hadn't heard.
