This book is suspenseful and has a great plot! I‘m really enjoying this series and am actually 1/2 done the third book 🙈 I can‘t wait to see what comes next!

🎧 Book 2 - just as good as book 1.
Gwen has saved her kids from their serial killer dad. He‘s in jail but his psychotic followers are on the loose & now so is he.
The son who never knew his dad is contacted by him and is torn between telling his mom & wanting to believe his dad.
Gwen leaves her kids & hunts the killer. The tables are turned. The twist is good. Only one of them will walk away alive.
Book 3 is on my June TBR.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Wow! What a thriller! Gwen‘s haters start coming out of the woodwork, hunting her and her children down. Conner discovers a video that shows his mother helping her ex-husband torture and kill one of his victims. Did Gwen really help him? #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
“Gwen Proctor won the battle to save her kids from her ex-husband..and his..psychotic accomplices. But the war isn‘t over…Melvin has broken out of prison [and sent her] a chilling text…‘You‘re not safe anywhere now.‘ Her refuge at Stillhouse Lake has become a trap. Gwen leaves her children in the protective custody of a fortified, well-armed neighbor. With the help of Sam Cade, brother of one of Melvin‘s victims, Gwen is going hunting.”

Gwen‘s husband, Melvin, has escaped from prison. With the help of Sam Cade, Gwen is hunting for her husband. Will she be able to find him before he destroys her and her children?
Better than the first book. Characters are well-drawn. Plot leaves you on the edge of your seat. Ending makes you want to read the third book. Recommended.

This was as good as book one, and I absolutely had to know the answer to the cliffhanger. Even though there are more books in the series, these two are a unit. Don‘t expect to be okay with just the first. I didn‘t love the other characters voices, but the story needed them. And I love Gwen even more for her strength and resolve. Definitely kept me guessing.

I can‘t concentrate on books to save my life right now. All the election anxiety has me in a tizzy. But audiobooks like this series are 👌🏻 so I‘m just going with it even though I rarely binge a series.
Rachel Caine is an amazing author. I‘m so impressed with her ability to create one heck of a thriller. #2 in the series and Gwen is highly determined to find her ex-husband, the serial killer, who has escaped from prison. The story is told from multiple perspectives; Gwen, her children, and Sam (his sister was a victim). This book is packed with suspense, emotion, surprise. 5🌟 #MountTBR
This second book in the series was even better than the first! I really had a hard time putting it down. Dark and suspenseful, this one had me staying up until the wee hours of the morning just to keep reading. I‘m looking forward to the next one!
#ThoughtfulThursday 📚4 books for April! 🧘🏻♀️I raked my whole yard today (BIG yard) and did laundry 🧺 this week! I think that no matter what you accomplished this week—we should ALL be proud we made it through another week! 🏷 Anyone who wants to play plus these Littens: @Meaw_catlady @Eggs @maich @NeedsMoreBooks @Crazeedi @Cupcake12 @Librarybelle @TheBookHippie @BGam @marleed @hes7
Really enjoyed the second installment of a this series. Was just as hair-raising as the first. I really liked how it we got to see things through all of the characters eyes in this book. Though someone definitely gave me a lot of anxiety throughout most of the book! (If you‘ve read it you‘ll know who I‘m talking about.) Only part that didn‘t really make sense was the fact that the neighbors go from hating Gwen to helping fix up her house???
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 So freaking intense! Relieved this one isn‘t a cliffhanger like Stillhouse Lake was. 😁 Kept me riveted and I stayed up until 1:30am because I had to finish it! LOL. 🤣 #jenireadabook #amazingbooksbyamazingwomen
Okay, seriously?! I want to be her when I grow up. She doesn‘t take any crap, and she protects her people. So freaking good.
How true! And we must learn to let go of those unhappy memories but hang on to those happy ones 🙂
This was just ehh for me. It was okay but way to much cat and mouse. I'll liked it enough to continue the series though. 3 stars.
I'm listening and reading this book (thanks to Kindle Unlimited) because I don't want to stop reading when I need to move from my chair! I am hooked! Ah! What's going to happen next????? #kindleunlimited #cantputthebookdown #audible #kindle
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Yesterday I wrapped up the first book & said I wasn‘t sure if I was going to continue with this series (not because I didn‘t like it but because there are so many books out there to read). A few of you chimed in and said to read the next two. Well, I‘m glad I listened. 😊 Book 2 was really good & was action packed. Interested to see where book 3 takes things. I do think I‘m going to take a short break before continuing though.
This second book in the Stillhouse Lake series was a fast, anxious and sometimes gruesome ride as Gwen tries to finally save her family from a monster. That monster is her ex-husband, who has a vast network of people assisting him. There are a few twists that I didn‘t see coming. This is a solid thriller, and was very entertaining. The next book in the series comes out in April, and I‘ll definitely read it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Whew! This sequel to Stillhouse Lake was creepy as f**k. I always know when I'm anxious about what's about to happen when my eyes can't help but flick ahead as I read. I felt like I was waiting for the bogeyman to show up 😱

Happy Friday! This book took a turn I didn‘t see coming (covering the text w/ a sticker to avoid spoilers.) It‘s made me anxious. This book is really good, but I don‘t always like it when too many things go wrong for the MC. 😬🥺 Water is my drink of choice tonight. 😋💧
Before I moved to NYC, I'd come up to visit and stay with my uncle who lives a few blocks from Lincoln Center, so it became a spot that I enjoyed coming to read and people watch with tea and pan au chocolate while on vacation. Now I've lived here for about 4 years and it's still a spot I enjoy stopping to pull out a book when I'm in the area 😄 (and I'm LIVING for these pockets of warmish weather that tell me spring is around the corner 😆)
Settling in with my current favorite beer and my book. 🍺📚 Another page turner! Good thing, because I have to get in 7 hours of reading before Sunday night to meet my Bookly monthly reading goal. 😬 #readinggoals #31hoursin31days
I actually enjoyed this even more than the first book, I liked “hearing” the story from the different perspective of the kids and the other characters! And the character twist at the end I did not expect. Build up to the end is great! 4 out of 5 stars!
Starting this sequel to Stillhouse Lake. The next one in the series is due out in April. ❤️📚
I really enjoyed Stillhouse Lake and it‘s intensity. I felt like I couldn‘t put it down. Killman Creek is a little bit different in that i feel like i have to push myself to read. I feel like I‘m not as invested and maybe it‘s because it‘s written differently? Stillhouse is from the perspective of Gwen Proctor only and this is told from many points of view. Gonna try to finish anyway 😎
Oh man! I flew through this one. I had such a fun time with Stillhouse Lake, and I think this one was even better. The alternating points of view really up the tension and I found this book hard to put down. April can‘t come soon enough, I wonder what Caine has in store for us.
This was a good follow up to Stillhouse Lake, I stayed up late to finish this one and here‘s to hoping I don‘t have any bad dreams tonight! I really enjoyed this one, and was pleased how it all wrapped up. I thought the author did a great job here with everything. It drug a little for me with the Connor / Brady storyline, but I understand what she was trying to do with it. Overall I am loving this series, and I can‘t wait for the third next year!
I think this was better than the first in the series, Stillhouse Lake. This time she wrote from different POV's. I wonder, though, what the next book will entail. Seems like everything got wrapped up in this one.
Starting this just after Stillhouse Lake, the first in the series. Hope it's as good as the first one.

Loved this one! I love that it‘s told through different perspectives. It helps build the suspense and leaves you wanting more after each chapter is finished. Can‘t wait for the third in the series!
Loving this book!! It‘s fast-paced and a good installment to this series. I can‘t wait to find out what happens!
The psychological twists in this second book of the Stillhouse Lake series are great. The book was very suspenseful. I couldn't put it down. I am looking forward to the third book next year. I am attached to Rachel Caine's characters as usual.
Hoo boy. This book was nuts. The first book in this series was just okay for me until the last third of it. This book is so much better- I‘m glad I stuck with this series. There‘s is a third book coming out next year- I‘m curious, based on the ending of this one, as to where this series goes next. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book is giving me anxiety so I am going to drink beer while I finish it!!! 😬🙈
I have to say the sequel was just as good (if not better) than the first book! I‘m really digging this series. Can‘t wait for book three!
Excellent sequel. The author included chapters with different POVs than Gwen‘s and I liked that. The other characters were more developed as a result but the suspense was just as strong as the first book.
I love this series! I can't wait until Book 3 comes out later this year!
I started reading book 2 of the Stillhouse Lake series last night and, like book 1, I couldn't stop! I made almost halfway through the book before my kindle died and I was forced to sleep. SO. GOOD.
1) @haileybean told me about it
2) yes on goodreads, but I only update it so often
3) yes- so many good suggestions!!
4) tagged book. Just started this series yesterday night, super good!!
