Blood Kiss: Black Dagger Legacy | J.R. Ward
18 posts | 49 read | 27 to read
The legacy of the Black Dagger Brotherhoodcontinues in a spin-off series from the #1 New York Times bestselling author Paradise, blooded daughter of the kings First Advisor, is ready to break free from the restrictive life of an aristocratic female. Her strategy? Join the Black Dagger Brotherhoods training center program and learn to fight for herself, think for herself...be herself. Its a good plan, until everything goes wrong. The schooling is unfathomably difficult, the other recruits feel more like enemies than allies, and its very clear that the Brother in charge, Butch ONeal, a.k.a. the Dhestroyer, is having serious problems in his own life. And thats before she falls in love with a fellow classmate. Craeg, a common civilian, is nothing her father would ever want for her, but everything she could ask for in a male. As an act of violence threatens to tear apart the entire program, and the erotic pull between them grows irresistible, Paradise is tested in ways she never anticipated--and left wondering whether shes strong enough to claim her own power...on the field, and off. From the Paperback edition.

This is Craeg and Paradise's story and the new characters have integrated this epic tale of vampires. Of course, others characters in the BDB make appearances in the book, especially Butch. Excellent character development as I have come to expect from Ward and I liked that the plot was a bit different. 4⭐️

PageShifter Sounds good. I have only read the first in the original series and that wasn't that special. So many love these so I think it gets better if you read further. 2y
TheSpineView @PageShifter I think it does. You get wrapped up in the lives of the characters. 2y

Paradise has wanted more for her life than being a protected member of the glymera. She is excited to be a part of the new program set up by the BDB.

Craeg lost his whole family and doesn‘t have much hope for the future. But he can fight.

The relationship between these two is underlined by social expectations, but also love.

Lauren_reading This book is also about Butch and Marissa. They have been mates for years, but they have been ignoring the past instead of facing how it affected them and their relationship.

When a woman comes to Safe Place, but dies because of her injuries everyone is affected.
Butch realizes there‘s no police force for their people and he wants to help Marissa find the murderer.

So this is the first book in a spin off series of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I had a hard time starting it like all first books in a series because they set it up and also because I didn't really care for the main character, Paradise. She did end up growing on me towards the end of the book when she stopped being such a "good girl" and becoming her own person and getting a personality. Going to try the next book and see where it goes.

Mommamanzi I just started it and feel as you did. I hope I end up liking her in the end! 7y
StrawberryShortcake85 I hope you do too. It took a while. Be patient. 7y

The latest book, Blood Kiss by J. R Ward and it's a new series called Black Dagger Legacy. Have you read it yet? These books are a little hit and miss for but the legions of BDB fans would disagree.😳

misswendyd Heh. A miss for me, I'm afraid. But just about everyone I know loves them! 9y
Escapismfanatic @misswendyd I read the first book but didn't get blown away by it. By the second book, the silly names of the characters really got too much so I bailed. I prefer Kresley Cole's PNR more. 9y

This is the first book in the BDB spin off series and I was pleasantly surprised. Still involves the original characters but finally introduces some new ones. Seemed to be a quicker read than the original series too. I liked it.
