This was definitely a great read and an interesting take on the fae

Bonkers in the best way. The surprise beastie is too good to spoil. I always want more Nightingale, but getting more Beverley in this book was a decent trade off. The hints via phone communication of what Lesley's up to definitely increase my need to read the next in the series. 😉
The audio books remain superb.
One nice feature of the Rivers of London series is that little bits or history is unsubtly dropped in, and not as non sequitors but as drivers of plot. This one sees Peter Grant in the west mercia countryside, and talks quite a bit about the deforestation (and reforestation) of Britain, which I've been interested in lately. Also: faith that ongoing series themes will not be lost has been established.
Love this series- had to relisten to this entry in my favourite Rivers of London series: it takes place during the same time period as Abigail‘s Summer- full of magic and romance ( Bev and Peter❤️)💚🐉
Started this one up pretty much immediately after finishing the previous in the series. Because reasons. Anyway, it's really good!
Spent today's #readathon hours at The Folly (more or less).
#20in4 @Andrew65
I didnt enjoy this installment quite as much as some of the others. In fact I had to check the back page to remember what happened. Weakest in the series so far.
I really love this series it‘s not the run of the mill it‘s so much more enjoyable
This was the best yet in the series. I liked Beverley and Peter together and enjoyed the mystery of the missing girls. I always figured Molly to be a vampire. Also pictured our chunky cat Zara.
TBR since June 14th. 2020, 374 pages.
Unicorns, fairies, and changelings...this may be my favorite of the series so far.

Another good story in the series. Love the way it's progressing. A lot more police procedural again than previous novels.

First, sorry I've been falling down on the Winter Games - I've been in grading hell all week - almost done!
Second, this is another pick - I love these books! Pro: WAY more Beverley - my girl & it looks like she & Peter are gonna stay a thing. HOORAY! Con: in the countryside, not London, BOOOO!! More city please! But I'll allow it because unicorns & SCARY Fae! The best kind of Fae!
Getting some reading in on the bus to Delphi. In love with this series
I have now run out of the books in this series that we own; there are two more on order so hopefully they hurry. Might give the graphic novel a spin next...!
Years ago, a friend disrupted her own party to try and find her copy of “Rivers of London” to shove it in my hands when she heard I hadn‘t read it. She couldn‘t find it, and I forgot about it. Unpacking my husband‘s copy seemed like as good a reason to follow up on that recommendation as any! I‘ve absolutely flown through the first four now and have #6 and 7 on order 🥳
Two girls have gone missing in a country town, and Peter heads out to assist in the search, even if there might not be magic involved.
I love Peter's characterization and growth so much! And watching him deal with the ending of the last book is amazing.
One of my fav things about these books is that I get enough info to guess pieces of the climax, but enough plausible red herrings that I'm still confused on the final shape. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
Influenza-like illness put a real cramp in my reading over the past two weeks. I couldn‘t focus on this Peter Grant fantasy-mystery like I wanted to. I‘m reading them in order and this was just as enjoyable as the first four - the countryside put a nice twist on the usual London setting. I did miss Nightingale, though.
Another stellar entry! Unicorns are real 😊
Loved this latest installment of Peter‘s adventures with missing kids, changelings, carnivorous unicorns, and all.
By this book, I feel Aaronovitch has found his groove and struck the right balance between character development and plot development. This series is typically described as “CSI meets Harry Potter”, which I totally see. A very quick and entertaining read.
With each book, I like this series more than I previously did. We‘ve always encountered supernatural creatures in this world but I loved this one particularly because we got unicorns and the Fae! Plus Peter is growing and coming into his own as a wizard. I actually finished this over three separate short walks instead of one long one. #audiowalk
More Peter Grant at the beach — a few more long walks should finish this book. #audiowalk #800in2019goal
It‘s been doing nothing but raining here for the past few days, so even though it‘s grey, I took the opportunity to walk outside today because it‘s not raining. In this book, Peter Grant is involved in a child abduction case that might possibly have magical origins. #audiowalk
‘You said that there‘s weird shit, but it normally turns out to have a rational explanation.‘
‘It does,‘ said Beverley. ‘The explanation is a wizard did it.‘
‘That‘s my line,‘ I said
I love this series 🖤🧙🏻♂️
I will not start a new book! I will not start a new book!
*bus is late*
"This is Aubible!"
Damn it!! ?
"Well Leominster nick's got vibrating chairs in the rec room." ???
Finished this ebook in record time. Peter Grant is a city of London policeman, so he‘s out of his element in this adventure in the countryside. Totally fun! There may be unicorns 🦄
🎧 This Rivers of London installment finds wizard/PC Grant out of The London environs and stomping around the fields of Herefordshire looking for a couple of missing girls...
While not as fast or snarky as past Pete Grant novels, it still has quite a few surprises and a couple of laugh out loud moments 😉
And as always, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, the audiobook narrator is absolutely brilliant.

🍊Simply Orange Juice in an Anchor glass
🍊We‘re watching back episodes of Black Mirror
🍊CR tagged book: Highly recommend in audio (narrated by Kobna Holdbrook-Smith)
🍊Weather right now is cloudy with a wind advisory; 47 degrees Fahrenheit (trending upwards away from snow weather)
🍊Five ear piercings: Three in left ear, two in right; Dating back to the punk era of the early ‘80s
🎧 Continuing my Rivers of London/Peter Grant listening run by starting this one later today. I love Ben Aaronovitch‘s clever writing and Kobna Holbrook-Smith‘s audiobook narration (Really, audio is *the* way to go with this series!)
Absolutely no idea what PC Grant may be up to in this urban fantasy this round, but if the cover is any indication, it looks like it‘s set in Rushpool.
So today arrived my last book subscription, not sure if I will continue as seemed a lot of money for only receiving a book! Anyway it was exciting to get it and see which one, plus pray I didn't have it already. So this looks good, like the cover and have never read any of her books. A good choice! #books #bookcovers #redbook #bookmad #tbr #lovetoread
These are my yellow books and not read any of them yet! There are so many books I never know which ones to read. I depends on my mood! How do you all pick which books to read? #yellowbooks #bookspines #bookcrazy #lovetoread #booknerd
Just finished Eleanor & Park, loved it! Now will go on to see what PC Peter Grant is getting up too!! #books #bookcovers #booksand coffee #currentread #lovetoread #bookworm
#5 in the PC Grant series. Peter Grant is sent out to investigate the disappearance of two young girls and whether the supernatural is involved. At first it does not appear so but Peter volunteers to stay and help the search. Magical creatures do seem to be involved and Peter must deal with things without his usual back up. Beverley, a river goddess shows up to add to the fun. Nice to see Peter growing into his job.
I really hope that Aaronovich hurries up and writes more books in this series, because I've only got one more to go, and I don't know what I'll do with myself after that. Other than start in on my mile high pile of other things to read, that is. These are so much fun, I love all of the main characters, and can't wait to find out more about the background of the magic.
Well, I am officially hooked on this series. I've run out of library-available audiobooks, so I have the last copy on hold in print... and I'm working on the comics too. Highly recommended, but do start the series at the beginning!
#audiopacking books. It's is always a little sad to dismantle my shelves, but they won't stay boxed forever!
I'm still blowing through this series, although my library doesn't have the next book on audio so I'm going to have to decide whether to buy it, read it in print, or wait until Overdrive gets it...
I think this is my favourite book in this series yet! It was fun to get to see Peter a bit out of his element in the countryside and the mystery was juicy. This one was a bit more straight forward police procedural than some of the others, but with: Unicorns! Changelings! Fae! BEVERLY the river goddess!! And your run-of-the-mill child kidnapping. God, Beverly is the best. And so is Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, #audiobook voice actor extraordinaire.
Omg, that sex scene with Beverly in the river read perfectly by Kobna Holdbrook-Smith in his beautiful voice. *Fans self* #AwesomeAudiobooks
This one wasn't set in London and it was delightfully, wonderfully weird. Also definitely a super interesting style of antagonist (spoiler in comments!).
Book 5 in the series (and Cosmo) and I'm finally back to being able to use these as challenge books! Book with a season in the title.

Favourite quote so far:
"Then they found the phones. Both immediately identified as belonging to Nicole and Hannah, both with dead batteries. Since an eleven-year-old is more likely to relinquish a kidney than her mobile phone, the working hypothesis changed from runaway to abduction and that's when the fun really started."
I just love everything about this series. This is the fourth book, and the best in my opinion.
Best way to sum up the series is to imagine if Harry Potter grew up and joined the police force. The authors love of London bleeds through the pages of every book
The weakest of all PC Grant series so far... But it's still PC Grant. So I'll still say pick. And it's mostly good, just with a weak ending, in my opinion.
