Felt like I was thrown in the world of alice in wonderland🫠
Definitely something new for me
#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024 Very entertaining! I‘m looking forward to the next book in this series. Recommended.
Wow, wow, wow! I absolutely loved this series!♣️♦️♠️ Legend & Tella ♥️
#Caraval
#Legendary
#Finale
I was really worried this would let me down similarly to Night Circus did. However, this is far and away better. I loved the magic of the world and the characters are extremely likable. I am very excited to continue the magic in the next book!
Scarlett & her sister, Tella, attend the magical competition Caraval, but they get separated. Later, Scarlett discovers that whoever finds Tella wins the game. She has to differentiate what‘s real & what‘s not.
3.5 ⭐️ This one was a little overhyped. I thought the magic and plot were good. All the characters were an annoying & I wanted a little more romance.
Strange, unreal, sometimes unbelievable, bordering on the possible or the impossible...

I‘m torn. I‘ll give it a 🤘🏽bc it‘s a decent book, and if you like the genre it‘s worth a read. I‘ve always thought it was overhyped- I heard someone describe it as a worse “Night Circus”- but I saw two recs for it recently and thought why not. I struggled w the characters and the story-telling. I‘d say I was pretty into it for the third quarter of the book but quarters 1,2, and 4 were just ok.
After writing this I wanna change it to so-so 😂
Scarlett gets three tickets for the famous game, Caraval: one for her, one for her sister, and one for her fiance. However, nothing is as it seems.
I just finished Caraval!
I read the book because of hype and reviews, so I went into it with high expectations. However, I was a bit disappointed. Scarlett was annoying and it was hard to read at some points. There were some plot holes that were patched up messily. It was still enjoyable.
Overall, 3/5
Not going to continue with the series, it did not leave enough curiosity for me. I also felt parts of it were rushed. I might have others disagree with me, but that‘s my opinion.
Scarlett has never left her tiny island where she lives with her sister and ruthless father. An arranged marriage, a wild sister, and a long dreamt of invitation to the Caraval leads to a dangerous adventure or is it. When Tella is kidnapped by Caraval's mastermind, the line between reality and magic start to blur.
- Like the drama and pace, kept me on my wanting to find out the truth. Fave part was the use of color to describe emotion. 4/5
Every person has the power to change their fate if they are brave enough to fight for what they desire more than anything.
This book was well worth all the hype it has received, the only criticism I would give is that the world of Caraval would sometimes contradict the rules that it had already set in place, other than that it was thrilling and captivating, can‘t wait to read the other books!
Omg my #wws is incredible !! Thank you so much @Chrissyreadit for these cozy gifts !! I‘m already diving into Caraval - what a treat !! 😇❄️☃️🤍 there‘s nothing like a Litsy swap to start the new year !!
Wow! This book elicited so much emotion from me, it was quite unexpected. Frustration, annoyance, heary ache, anger; but not in a bad way. Because SG really drew me into the characters and circumstances that I wanted to be in the book in order to help have justice be done. I find this to be the true definition of a great storyteller/author. Well done SG!
Immediately thought of Caraval for today‘s #ScarathlonDailyPrompts! Scarlett must follow #clues to find her sister Tella. #scarathlon2022 #teammonstermash +6pts
Truly took me to another world . As I read it my worries and reality diminished into absolutely nothing. Its the type of book that will make you say , I‘ve been on many adventures in this life . And this one was my absolute favorite…... Meet me at the Carousel at dusk I found another clue . It‘s called Legendary
Very reminiscent of The Night Circus which I absolutely adored. For the first 100 pages I wasn't really sure if I was going yo enjoy it and it seemed like it was very slow going.
However towards the end I really started to enjoy it and get into the story and all the twists and turns it started to have. Though at the end it did disappoint a little with how everything was resolved.

August recap in book reviews:
The synopsis of this book had me hooked. It‘s about a magical game held by a very mysterious game master named Legend. The story follows two sisters, Scarlett and Donatella, who wanting to escape their abusive father sends Legend a series of letters. The only thing is Donatella gets kidnapped which sends Scarlett on an adventure to win the game to find her sister.

Caraval is my favorite, it's filled with so much wonder!
Not my favorite …
I enjoyed this more than I was expecting. I‘m really trying to branch out of my comfort zone a little bit this year with genres like fantasy and YA and I‘ve found that the otherworldly world building can really make for a great story, especially as an audiobook with a good narrator. This was a great start to what I‘m imagining will be an epic trilogy and I‘m all in! There are definitely some cliffhangers I need answered! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
A fun read, but I probably won‘t be continuing the series. Another example of being about 3 years behind on my Alaska Battle of the Books reads.
I still have so many questions-I am super excited to read book 2 in this Trilogy. I absolutely loved the game and all the secrets, I've never read anything like it. And my favorite character thus far is definitely Tella. Although I do have a soft spot for Julian.
Loved it! Alice in Wonderland meets Charlie & the Chocolate Factory vibes! I had no idea what was going on for most of it, yet that‘s what made it so endearing. It will have you questioning everything and everyone! I didn‘t trust a single character, although I had a lot of conspiracy theories (none of them right lol) The last 1/3 of the book easily made this a 5 star read for me! Thanks to @KateReadsYA for buddy reading this w/ me! Now #2?! 🤗😏
✨️I'm halfway through Caraval and every chapter I keep finding myself saying "What the hell is going on" hahaha I love it! I won't be surprised if I'm up late reading through the night with my flashlight!!! Already ordered book 2! ?
@BooksNBowls I'm starting our #buddyread this morning! Can't wait to see where this adventure takes us 💫 Let me know how many chapters you plan to read of this today!
As they crossed over the arched bridge and past the massive hourglasses, Scarlett wondered how many minutes of her life it would take to form one bead. A second in Caraval seemed richer than an ordinary second, like that moment on the cusp of sunset, when all the colors of the sky coalesce into magic.
I really enjoyed it. It was very magical and fun. I loved the world and the carnival setting. Excited to finish this this trilogy.
I loved this book way more than I expected. It was a magical story with a lot of twists and suspense. It‘s about a game that takes players into a fantasy world where they have to find a way to win at the end. I thought this was so well written and imaginative and I just didn‘t want to put it down whenever I picked it up. Can‘t wait to read the second book!
