A reclusive widow claims to have the author's correspondence, and agrees to allow her sight of the letters, but only subject to stringent security and the completion of a series of tasks which set Emma off across England, searching for the secrets Jane Austen hoped to bury. And the reappearance of her old friend, Adam, doesn't make the quest any easier. If you focus on the story and overlook some little things, it‘s a good read. Enjoyed the aptly named Emma‘s growth throughout the novel, and liked the ending. Not the usual happy ever after, but one that really worked for Emma.

I enjoyed this Jane Austen-inspired story about a college professor who has spent her career researching Jane Austen. And now I want to reread Austen's novels!

jewright Recently, scholars found one of the parts of a missing Austen letter. It was about laundry... no salacious details at all. 5y

A fun quick weekend read. The things we ‘learned ‘ about Austen were interesting , and the main character, Emma, landed at the end just as she should have. Realistic ending which I was glad for having been in a similar situation.

I picked up these Jane Austen-inspired novels for my aunt who writes Jane Austen fan-fiction under the name Cassandra B. Leigh. Her stuff is on Kindle, so if you're into that sort of thing, check it out. 😇

Not high literature, but on the upper end of fan fiction. This was a fast read and Patillo's scholarship is excellent. A good palate cleanser. #litsyAtoZ #letterJ @BookishMarginalia
