I'm definitely going to have to find these letters!!! Mister Rogers wrote letters back to all the parents and children who wrote to him, which is absolutely incredible. He would often respond with letters to both parents and children!!

Catching up from yesterday. I don‘t know if this quote is in this book or not but I like it. 🧸🧡

“When we treat children‘s play as seriously as it deserves, we are helping them feel the joy that‘s to be found in the creative spirit. It‘s the things we play with and the people who help us play that make a great difference in our lives.” ― Fred Rogers

sblbooks @SaturnDoo This is definitely good reading weather. I'm currently reading 5y
Recommended4Reading @sblbooks Rain is something we have not been lacking in Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood (Pittsburgh), but we have had several days of sun here. May was one heck of a rainy month, but the trees look absolutely beautiful! 5y

As I get my family ready to head to synagogue to join my community in grief and support for fellow Jews in Pittsburgh, I struggled to talk to my 6 year old about what happened in a space that should be safe and sacred. My heart is heavy. 😢

CouronneDhiver I‘m so sorry... really awful 😕 6y
TrishB It‘s very hard to explain what is basically inexplicable 😢 thinking of you . 6y
Cinfhen Yesterday‘s tragedy was a sad reminder of the world we live in. My heart is so heavy 💔 and to think those people were there to celebrate the birth of a baby. 6y
Leftcoastzen It‘s so awful.Heartbreaking. 6y
Blaire @Cinfhen @CouronneDhiver @TrishB @Leftcoastzen yes. It‘s so awful...a friend of mine here used to work with one of the men who was murdered. It‘s such a tragedy. I love about 3 hours from Pittsburgh and the Jewish world being what it is many in our city have close friends in Pittsburgh. My 6 yo came to the service with me. His primary concern and comfort now is that the person who did it is in jail. (edited) 6y

#FandomFriday Mr. Rogers

1. Original. Although I wasn‘t aware there was a modern cartoon, but I‘d still go with original.
2. I always liked Mr. McFeely & the Trolley
3. Who doesn‘t love the Neighborhood of Make-Believe?
4. When Mr. Rogers met Koko

Wife I didn‘t know Mr. Rogers as a child (though he was around, I didn‘t get to watch much TV). I started watching him with my kids and found that he relaxed me! I‘ve seen the recent documentary and have The Good Neighbor in my Scribed queue (LaVar Burton reads 😍) He is an inspiring soul. 6y
wanderinglynn @Wife He was an amazing person. We need more Mr. Rogers in this world. 6y
LibrarianRyan I always forget about him meeting KoKo. 6y

SleepyDragon The cartoon, btw, is called Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. My kids watch it. It's cute and helps teach prek social lessons, but not really a replacement. More of a spin-off. 6y
wanderinglynn @NeesyBeth Yes, I saw the Google Doodle ❤️ Ag, I remember Daniel Tiger. Didn‘t know they had him in the spin-off. Thanks! ☺️ 6y

Google has a lovely doodle video today. You should check it out.

1.original. I‘m not a fan of the cartoon. The original talked about real things and showed it in was to remove the “scary”

2. The Trolly. It always meant an adventure.

3. The post office. It intrigued me as a child on far away military bases.

4. No my favorite thing is not an episode but his testimony before congress to help fund PBS.

ReadingRover Omg. I didn‘t see this until now. I was obsessed with Mr. Rogers as a kid. My favorite episode ever was when they showed how crayons were made and they showed they whole process of the orange crayon. I was fascinated!!! And believe it or not Lady Elaine was my favorite!!! 6y
ReadingRover My mom always wondered why I liked the ugly mean puppets 😂 6y
