Lose yourself to the magic of "The Charm Bracelet."Through an heirloom charm bracelet, three women will rediscover the importance of family and a passion for living as each charm changes their lives. On her birthday each year, Lolly s mother gave her a charm, along with the advice that there is nothing more important than keeping family memories alive, and so Lolly s charm bracelet would be a constant reminder of that love. Now seventy and starting to forget things, Lolly knows time is running out to reconnect with a daughter and granddaughter whose lives have become too busy for Lolly or her family stories. But when Arden, Lolly s daughter, receives an unexpected phone call about her mother, she and granddaughter Lauren rush home. Over the course of their visit, Lolly reveals the story behind each charm on her bracelet, and one by one the family stories help Lolly, Arden, and Lauren reconnect in a way that brings each woman closer to finding joy, love, and faith. A compelling story of three women and a beautiful reminder of the preciousness of family Viola Shipman's "The Charm Bracelet" is a keepsake you ll cherish long after the final page."

Last night my library hosted an author program which featured Wade Rouse, aka Viola Shipman! 💕📚 I got to run the whole thing which included facilitating the event, handling the Q&A portion, and the best part of all - getting to go out to dinner beforehand with him and his lovely husband! It was an absolutely magical evening!

marleed How cool is that! 2mo

An endearing story of Lolly‘s life told through the charms on her bracelet and enfolding in her relationship with her daughter and granddaughter. It was perfect for my commute into a conference each day this week.

I really enjoyed this book. It‘s my second by this author and I plan to read more. It‘s a beautiful story of a grandmother, her daughter, and her granddaughter and the charms on her bracelet that have many stories for living that she wants them to know for them to use in their own lives.

Great premise but could have been written more creatively. Interesting to me tho for the significance behind the charms

I thought the author was a good storyteller- when he was narrating or when a character was telling a story, but when he was writing dialogue, the the dialogue did not sound natural. I find Nora Roberts & JD Robb writes some of the best natural dialogue. Those that look down on romance novels might find that surprising!!!

TheBookgeekFrau I had the sample problem with the dialogue in this one and in The Hope Chest. 6y
tpixie @C.Perone good to know. The Hope Chest looked good but the dialogue really made it hard to read in The Charm Bracelet- esp between the Mom & her new boyfriend 6y
TheBookgeekFrau @tpixie The dialogue of the little girl in The Hope Chest was maddening 😠 However, the story itself was quite moving and good 6y

tpixie @C.Perone Dialogue just must be very difficult to do 6y
TheBookgeekFrau @tpixie I think so, trying to keep the words and sentiments true to the character, their age, the cultural setting, etc, etc And yet, when the dialogue is good you hardly notice it; it just flows 6y

It took me forever to finish this book😓good story but plot was so slow. This is the story of 3 female generations, in one summer they found how much they loved each other, it is about how to respect our elders about second chances. The grandmother showed their stories through the charms selected in their bracelets. Lauren explained so well her love for her grandmother at the of the story.I love my grandma so this story was special for me3.4⭐️

Sills I really liked it then read The Hope Chest, then The Recipe Box🙂 6y
Gissy @Sills I didn't know it was a trilogy. I will find the other two. Thanks! 6y

3 of my favorite things: a book, Chloe and my son‘s afghan he crocheted. I won‘t get done with the book in time, but I hear they‘re serving a great drink, so I‘ll probably go to book club tonight anyway! 🍹 📚

Such a sweet, heart-warming story centered around an heirloom charm bracelet. Each charm was given to Lolly for a specific reason and each ones tells a little bit of her family‘s story.

Cinfhen Sounds sweet!! And I love charm bracelets ( although) I think they׳re heavy to wear the sentiment behind them are awesome 💖 7y

TheHeartlandBookFairy The Charm Bracelet was just magical! The Hope Chest was his second fictional book and was also very good. The Recipe Box comes out soon, I think next month and I can't wait! Happy reading 😊 7y
Purrfectpages @TheHeartlandBookFairy I didn‘t even realize a man wrote either book! Both are on my TBR list! 7y
TheHeartlandBookFairy @Purrfectpages , Wade Rouse write these books under the pen name of Viola Shipman, was his grandmother. Wade also has a fantastic collection of nonfiction books that are among my favorite books! Seriously funny and witty and heartfelt and touching and real! One of my all-time favorites is At Least In The City Someone Would Hear Me Scream! It helps that he lives very nearby and I can easily visualize much of what he's writing about in that book 😂 7y
Purrfectpages @TheHeartlandBookFairy how interesting! I really have to check one if his books! 7y

This book just wasn't good. It's a cute concept but the plot execution and writing were poor. The book was just pure saccharine. So many tears shed by the characters and way too many I love yous. It was eye rolling. And, the writing style was not only simplistic, it didn't even come close to ringing true. It's as if the author had some preconceived stereotypical notion as to what the reader wanted but totally missed the mark.

Audrey Lastly, these old time charm bracelets are beautiful and the charms have meaning. But, one doesn't just snap the charm on to the bracelet. They get professionally welded on otherwise the charms fall of and get lost. Especially with daily wear. 8y

The Charm Bracelet was a nice story about bringing family together after too long. I thought it was too syrupy sweet though, everything was so overly colorful and happy, even the characters (except for one.) It did make me look online for the town, or one like it, because I would love to visit it.
