This book broke my heart, but I loved every minute of it. It had pretty much everything I love-strong characters, a touch of fantasy and paranormal mixed with contemporary, found family, and an atmospheric setting.

Interesting enough to hold my attention but not enough to make me think about it throughout the day. Literally only read it at night time before bed. Characters were done well and the plot was good.
#102 of my year! I‘m on a roll but also the first sentence had me hooked! I have heard so many great things about this one & it was part of an old Owlcrate subscription box so I definitely look forward to checking it off my TBR list.
A really interesting take on demons. In this world the demons are “out” and it is becoming more common for people to make deals with them. In exchange for a body part the demon grants a wish. But when Dee goes looking for a demon he doesn‘t want just any part, he wants her heart! I liked the world of this book. Pretty much like our world with the addition of demons walking about. Learning what the demons did with the body parts and why was cool.
Library run today. I went in looking for The Hearts We Sold because I read a review on goodreads that made it sound fantastic. I also wanted the Death of Mrs Westaway. The orher two were impulse grabs 😄
I don't normally post books that are not NEW in #CoverLove, however, I had to point this one out. The new paperback cover is so much better than the hardcover. I think it might get more readers interested. Your thoughts?

I enjoyed this book - unique premise and engaging characters. An element of self discovery and internal strength.
I loved this book! It tore my heart out! (Pun intended) But I loved it!
Hearts we sold, is a remarkable mix of reality and fiction. Great for your quick fix of Fantasy YA~ .
“There‘s nothing romantic about dying young, a life is not diminished by the fact that it wasn‘t romantic or short-lived.”
I wasn‘t expecting what this turned out to be, but when the ending came around with a bit of a sad twist, reality sets in about what this story is truly about, and what the value of a life had the potential to be. The pacing was a bit slow until the halfway point and then you fly through it, and there‘s some repetitive word choices and some editing issues in my opinion, but those are minor distractions. All in all, it‘s a satisfying stand alone.
I ordered a past owlcrate box. I can‘t do a monthly subscription so I try to buy a couple every year. This one was the August box the theme was something wicked this way comes.
This one had a decent underlining theory to it but overall it just wasn't for me. I didn't really care that much for the story and was kind of underwhelmed with the ending.
Today's book haul! Is there anything more exciting than book mail? I think not! 💖💌💖

Back at it again! 📖☕️
I️ really hadn‘t planned on reading this one in just one sitting! But I️ just couldn‘t put it down!!! Great characters, an exciting plot and a book that entirely exceeded my expectations! But I️ am a little 😡 that there‘s no word on a sequel or anything- not ready to say goodbye! #EmojiNov @RealLifeReading
Wow. Worst reading month all year. 😲😲😮. Guess I didn't realize I was in a reading slump until quite recently. Ah well. Tomorrow's another month 😁

This book just ripped out my soul. Does anyone have a band-aid?
As I am reading this book this song keeps popping into my head. Probably because the characters refer themselves as heartless. Don't mind me I am just easily amused 😂😂
“A life is not diminished by the fact that it wasn‘t romantic or short-lived.”
This was amazing. I loved Dee. She was amazing and relatable and one of the best main characters ever. I loved the character development of James; at first I thought he was a little pretentious but I loved how he grew as a person. I loved the female friendships between Dee, Gremma and Riley!

I am inhaling this book. Holy hell, it is SO GOOD.
I haven't been on here in awhile. I kinda forgot about it. 🙈
I'm about 3/4 through this and am pretty sure the characters don't #knowyourenemy. At least I don't yet 😛. The real enemy, that is. Interesting story, with some moral ambiguity. Perfect for October 😁😁

"But were they truly victims? If they made a deal, knowing fully what they were trading for a wish - - but then again, could a person ever truly know the consequences of giving away their heart?"
In the beginning, Dee was a flawed character from a broken home. It was great to see her grow as the story unraveled and find the confidence to change her personal situation. The supporting characters: her roommate Gremma, the Daemon, and the other heartless: Cora, Cal, James, and Riley were well developed and interesting. The ending will grab your heart, and yet, it's also very satisfying. A great book!
A modern society in which demons grant wishes in exchange for physical body parts fits perfectly with contemporary America. The book is focused on Dee, but it does touch on the larger ramifications of living in such a society–the rumors about celebrities and what they may have traded; the fascination around having a prosthetic; the rules the demons lay out to earn humans‘ trust.

3.5 ⭐️
What I like about the book is the originality of the story, and that it is the combination of something magical but also sci-fi. I'm also the kind of person who judge a book by the 'bestfriend' character, in this case, Gremma, which is a very cool character. What I don't like is that there are so many tropes that are typically found in YA books, and also the ending, where all the set up to the ending is only explained in the last 20 pages.
This one took me a while to get into and it wasn't what I expected it to be. Wholly original, but still some semblance of a fairy tale. I cried, the ending did not go the way I thought it would, and I'm not entirely okay with it. I understand why but man do I wish it was different.
Basically, this book rocks.
⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️ and a 🍌, for good measure.
I've been on the couch all day, miserable with a sinus infection (I think; it could also be dimension-hopping beasties that decided to squat in my forehead) and this book has not only kept me company but kept my attention locked in its world.
Lewis may be yawning but I definitely wasn't 🙅
Fast-paced, easy to read, interesting storyline & some absolutely heart-wrenching moments!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really liked this book. Though I could see where this was going early in the story, I did enjoy it til the very end. Dee is a relatable character and I love Gremma. Excuse me while I go figure out how to knit little red hearts.
Today shall be spent in my jammies on the couch reading this awesome book from August's #owlcrate!
This was probably one of my favorite #Owlcrate themes ever: "Something Wicked This Way Comes"
I especially love the "Poe-ka dot" socks and fountain pen and coffee!
Slow start, and yet it held my attention all the way through. And once things got going, damn did it go. This was such a beautiful book.
For some reason, I keep picturing Mr. Gold from Once Upon A Time. I do believe that Dee may learn that all magic comes with a price, Deary.
Finished this the other night and I enjoyed this quick read. 3 ⭐️ review on Goodreads. This book and pin came from my @owlcrate August box & was a great choice I didn't have on my radar.
