I tried. I really really did. I wanted so badly to love it as it‘s one of the few books my brother has ever asked me to read.I made 3 separate attempts and each time I found myself completely disconnected from the characters and wishing for some kind of element I could grasp onto. Unfortunately I just never found anything. So it‘s off to our little library, which will make its debut in our yard this spring, to be someone else‘s adventure.

This audiobook was a lot of fun 🤩

It required me to abandon all logic and just enjoy it. It‘s not exactly an original concept, but it‘s well done. The cover graphic is an excellent representation of what feel to expect, even though there is basically no mention of video games and very little mention of early era computing.

The first book was hilarious and interesting. Not as excited about the ones after. However this one was great for a giggle.
An interesting twist on the concept that "we all live in a computer simulation"

My son often reads on the bus. He was so excited to see our last name in his current novel that he sent me a text. ❤️

I tried this one for the LitRPG prompt, which I'd been having trouble with. I ended up really enjoying this story about a group of people who learn how to manipulate the world through a computer program and escape to the past where they pretend to be wizards. Plus, the Kindle in Motion stuff was pretty cool.

Meh. Some good ideas but ultimate didn‘t quite connect for me.

Miller: We should stop by a homeless shelter and donate all these bananas. Something good might as well come of all this.

As usual, Scott Meyer is delivering! Book 5 isn‘t taggable on Litsy yet, but it‘s fabulous!

Kind of offbeat and funny, a really different take on wizardry

Martin Banks is a name which seems to signal a protagonist about to do foolish things and get in trouble. He does exactly that, in some of the most stereotypical ways possible. At times frustrating & cringe-worthy when he does something stupid, nothing about the story was overly aggravating, simply obvious. Fun & light read, but not something I'd seek out again. The illustrations were neat though, and I love that Kindle added the movement to them.

Truly amazing series! I recommend this series to everyone, EVEN (and maybe especially) if you don't like the usual sci-fi (which I do not, for the record) but this is totally different! A great mix of light sci-fi and fantasy. Hilarious dialogue, especially accompanied by a stellar narration by the very talented Luke Daniels. I can not rave about this series enough!

Review for the 4th in this series (not in Litsy yet, but I sent a request to add it). This series has to be the best goofiest guilty pleasure audiobook. A bunch of nerdy geeks find the computer code that controls all factors of life as we know it & use this power to go back to the Middle Ages and be 'wizards'. Such fun, their nerd fights always leave me laughing, even though in this installment the problems are entirely of their own making!

Simple and fun but it just wasn't for me. I had to actively suspend my disbelief and in the end I was disappointed by the whole thing. Clever premise. I think for some it would totally work.

Finished this one on an early hike with the dog. A solid 3.5 ⭐️ for originality and enjoyability. Now ... to make the most of Sunday and #slaythatseriesreadathon

The perfect accompaniment to morning dog walking. So far, it is sillier than I thought it would be ... but an enjoyable listen.

I really wanted it to be great and it was an overall fun read, but not mind-blowing. I'll probably check out the sequels eventually.

Only 15 pages in and I'm chuckling to myself like a madman. I'm also overly excited about the small movement in the book's illustrations (Kindle in Motion, say what?!) Its like reading a book straight out of the wizarding world!!!

Yes!!!! A new release in this nerdy goofy-fun series! I know what I'm using my audible credit on! 👍

Not really heard much about this series, but it keeps appearing in my audible recommendations, and I've enjoyed Luke Daniel's narrations before.

Recommended by a gamer friend who knows I loved Ready Player One. Speaks to the same audience, though this one tends toward the fun, silly side, making it a great read for my Winter Break. Going to give it to my 14 yo son next.

Something fun for Winter Break :)

Bought this a while ago as a recommendation after Armada by Ernest Cline. The others in the series are part of Audible's big sale so I thought I'd better get listening so I could get them on the cheap if I want to keep going!

So imagine if the entire world was controlled by a computer program, and you found and could manipulate that program. This is a fun blend of sci-fi and fantasy (ok mostly fantasy) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also (based on my last two posts) Luke Daniels is an excellent narrator.

I'm running a bit behind here, but here's my #augustofpages post for yesterday. I'm a big nerd, and grew up in the 80's, so these type of crazy nerdy, old fashioned gaming/80's trivia steeped books always make me smile. And all were fabulous to listen to on audiobook too with great narration. What can I say, I have a soft spot for a nerdy/dorky hero plot lines.

I got this from Audible a while ago. Couldn't remember what it was about but figured it was about some apprentice questing to become a wizard. Imagine my surprise when I discovered it's about a computer hacker! I love magic + technology books. I think I'm going to like this one.

I was recommended this book by a friend because I loved Ready Player One. The similarities are slight, but this was almost as good. I laughed a lot reading it, and appreciated the twist on reality it offered- somewhat like the Matrix. But with Wizards.
