pickShadow meets a nice if quirky pair during his travels and agrees to stay over at their place because there‘s no hotel nearby. The story devolves from there.
Less aimless than the previous one—at least there‘s a plot here. The imagery is striking, particularly—in accordance with the title—of the animals. There‘s a nice touch of horror in the paranormal/fantasy mix, which I also enjoyed.

pickThis Gaiman story originally appeared in the collection Trigger Warnings. Another Shadow Moon travel story that is perfect for this UK hardcover standalone treatment with super dark & creepy illustrations. This one is less mythic gods and more a mysterious foggy moors situation. Ghosts, past bad deeds, anger, and lies cause some danger - where yes, one god from Shadow‘s past may have helped him out...

Daisy, unlike the cat, follows me around and gazes at me like she believes I am responsible for hanging the stars in the sky. According to my husband, she starts watching out of the front window about a half an hour before I arrive home and goes nuts when I pull in the driveway. Most of these #tbr are re-reads but I feel like I should read the stories again since I upgraded my editions. I haven't read "Paris Bookshop" or "Night Ocean." I didn't do that great with reading in June, though I got through a few audiobooks. @Tiffy_Reads #sizzlinsummerbooks

pickIt's always a pleasure to return to Shadow's world, even if it's just for a few pages. I've enjoyed the sequel novellas where Gaiman has touched on British folklore, this time a Black Dog in a rural English village. That's Scotland (Monarch of the Glen) and England (Black Dog) how about Gwydion or Math for Wales and a nice Banshee or Joint-Eater for Ireland? Just to finish the British isles? Meet the Old Fella. Jake is a rescued British lab, so we're not sure how old he is: 12 at minimum. He's mostly blind, mostly deaf, and loves to blow his nose lavishly on my couch. Despite his sensory deficits, he's unfailingly gentle and sweet. Now if I could just teach him how to use Kleenex 🤔
