Cutesy mysteries are not usually my thing, but this one really surprised me. It was a quick, easy read, and pretty sweet (no pun intended). I found myself immediately searching for Book #2 of this "Cape Bay Mystery" series.

I thought this would be a cute little coffee shop cozy mystery and it was but kinda boring. This series is not for me.

This is the first book in the series. I‘m torn between a soft pick and so-so. I‘ll probably read book 2 to see how it goes & if it picks up for me.

Super slow reading week for me. Considering where I‘ve been all week, I‘m completely fine with it. I‘m a bit behind on my buddy reads. We‘ll be here with family for another 4 days so I‘m not expecting to get much read this week either.

Not much actually happens and along with the end seeming rather abrupt, there was a cliffhanger to set up the next book. Not a bad start to a series, but even with the cliffhanger, not enough build up to be exited about the next book. Will consider continuing the series, but it‘s not high on my list.

This was a recommendation from one of my coworkers. There wasn‘t much of a mystery and there was too much time going over the details of the characters lives. But it was under five hours for the audiobook and I did like the setting and characters-will probably try the next one in the series.

This was a frothy, light mystery. Nothing of substance in the story, but I enjoyed the main character enough to try another one in the series. 🧁☕️🧁

marleed Yea, this was kind of fun to read but I thought it kind of blew rules of a mystery - like some hints along the way! 4y

Set north of Boston on the shoreline, this easy read lets you escape into its world of coffee, cupcakes, beaches,& murder.Francesca returns from NYC to run a cafe her family has owned for 3 generations because her mother died. She runs into an old childhood friend Matt,(his dad was murdered & F finds the body. They combine forces to investigate & slowly rebuild their friendship.Repetitive in some parts,so my attention wandered.

Hopeful feelings today just watching the parade of cars & walkers going into the elementary school to vote today. Polls closed at 8. Watched returns with hubby until after midnight, then called it quits. Reading this #cozy today to distract myself as it demands little concentration.

TheAromaofBooks I live across the street from my polling location and they were quite busy all day. I always love to see everyone bustling in and out!! 4y

Okay, by the title I knew what I was getting into so this is a so-so but in a good way. I deliberately saved this as a quick easy read following a heavy one and it satisfied that desire. It was fun. But at the end - aren‘t there rules in a mystery - like some clues along the way!

This was a fairly quick and light read or rather listen (Idk the correct term 😬) and I love the cover! 😍The story, covering a bit of cozy style romance and mystery, albeit wasn‘t bad, dragged a bit for my taste.
However, this is the first book in the series so I won‘t completely bail it just yet. Here‘s hoping the next one is better. 🤞🏽😅

I like how good-natured Frannie was and thought the audiobook narration was fantastic, but wish it felt like it meant more. The revelation of who the murderer was felt slight. I‘d listen to the second one before bailing on the series though.

As for the book, a very enjoyable, quick read. Sweet & nostalgic. Not much sleuthing for the reader, but some clues for chewing on. Will definitely read the next one!

I enjoyed the story, and I will be reading book number two in the series. This had some slow parts, but I noticed that happens sometimes in books that are first in a series. I found the characters likable, and I want to see what happens to them next.

This was a nice and easy ready with murder added to it. What more can you ask for? However I feel like the story wasn‘t completely... I don‘t know if developed is the word I want to use but I just feel like it was flat. Like I said if you‘re looking for something light then it‘s definitely a good pick but the story just wasn‘t enough for me

I debated between rating this a pick or so-so, but I‘m going with pick because I found the characters and writing intriguing enough to check out more in the series. Although the mystery was just okay for me, Francesca and Matty are a good team. Marguerite Gavin is a great narrator for this, making the short audiobook easy to breeze through in an afternoon or two.

Q84 I totally agree with you about this one. The mystery seemed more of a background piece to me. 7y
