A significant book that discusses how significant (and insignificant) everything is and can be. A fun, novelty read that went by quickly and kept me invested. One of the main takeaways that I feel is important is to celebrate your differences and don‘t settle for normal - who even defines that word anyways? Also, the big author reveal at the end made me gasp, but then after a minute of reflection, was the perfect ending
“There are countless ways to live upon this tremendous sphere in mirth and good #health, and probably only one way - the industrialized, urbanized, herding way - to live here stupidly, and man has hit upon that one wrong way.” #QuotsyApr21

Remembering this Paula Cole song linked my mind to Judy Collins & her song, Someday Soon, which in turn led from cowboys & rodeos to cowgirls to Even Cowgirls Get the Blues.(read ages & ages ago). Go figure!

“A lot of life boils down to the question of whether a person is going to be able to realize his fantasies, or else end up surviving only through compromises he can't face up to. The way I figure it, Heaven and Hell are right here on #Earth. Heaven is living in your hopes and Hell is living in your fears. It's up to each individual which one he chooses.” I‘ve posted this before but I think it‘s a good one. #QuotsyMar19
It isn't my job making me sick these days but oddly I still think of this quote when I'm struggling to live a "normal" life working full time & letting people believe everything is fine. I took sick leave a year+ ago to take care of my mental health & had a downturn again a few months ago. I'm still fighting to find balance but I'm learning not to pretend I'm well when I am anything but. Hoping 2019 will be a #healthy year for us all! #QuotsyJan19
While negotiating possible dinner plans, myspouse said if we go to our usual place he‘s just going to watch football all evening. I waved my book at him and said I‘d be fine.
Anyway, #illalwayslovethisbook because it‘s silly and ridiculous and reminds me of some special friends.

"Think of books as pills. I have pills that cure ignorance and pills that cure boredom. I have pills to elevate moods and pills to open people's eyes to the awful truth: uppers and downers as they were. I sell pills to help people find themselves and pills to help them lose themselves when they require escape from the pressures and anxieties of life in a complex society..." #pressure #QuotsyMarch18
One of the funniest and most inquisitive books about perspective in the size of life forms both physically and emotionally.

I forced this book on my college boyfriend, and he loved it too; meanwhile the copy I gave my husband back in the day was misplaced and never read! A fun book in any case, though I felt a little like Sissy Hankshaw with her giant thumbs while trying to take this picture! #onebluecandle #12DaysofBookmas
Took me awhile to find the exact cover I had. This was a very odd present from a high school teacher. He taught me one summer at a gifted program, and we met up for coffee once when I was 17. At 36, I find a lot of this inappropriate...

#madeintoamovie If you've ever wondered how someone could make one of those crazy Tom Robbins books into a movie, check out Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. #septphotochallenge #somethingforsept
My 1st & forever-favorite Tom Robbins. Outrageous, raunchy, bizarre, hilarious, peppered with the most amazing random facts. My original copy, bought used at a church sale in Connecticut (unexpected, given the venue). 1976 print, handwritten notes about Alaska, seattle & Everly Bros inside covers.
