Where They Found Her
Where They Found Her | Kimberly McCreight
'A rollercoaster of a novel McCreight has once again proven herself to be an insightful writer capable of taking us on a hell of a ride' Jodi Picoult 'Kimberly McCreight doesn't just give us an intense, interwoven, multigenerational, multi-household mystery (as if that isn't enough). She creates a world that pulls us in completely and genuinely, with characters that can enrage, amuse and fill us with empathy. It's a thrilling novel' Gillian Flynn, author of Gone Girl 'Completely riveting' Emma Healey, Costa Award winning author of Elizabeth is Missing The very worst crimes are those we commit against the ones we love. Motherhood hasn't come at all easy for Molly Anderson. But she's finally enjoying life as mother to five-year-old Ella and as Arts reporter for the small but respectable Ridgedale Reader. That is, until a body is found in the woods adjacent to Ridgedale University's ivy-covered campus. This is a discovery that threatens to unearth secrets long buried by the town's most powerful residents, and brings Molly to two women who are far more deeply connected than they have ever realised. Where They Found Her is a riveting domestic thriller which offers a searing portrait of motherhood, marriage, class distinctions and the damage wrought by betrayal.

I mostly liked this mystery/suspense audiobook but there was one twist that I didn't think really fit the story.

4✨ I could have read this in one sitting. There is one main mystery of a baby found dead. Molly a journalist is called onto the scene. As the mystery is unfolding we learn several more layers that connect to this main mystery. I like that is was easy to follow with the multiple layers, but it also made it easy to figure out what happened.

In Ridgedale, New Jersey, the body of a newborn is found in the woods near the campus of the town's prestigious university. No one knows the identity of the baby or what ended her short life. Freelance journalist Molly Anderson is called upon to cover the disturbing news for the Ridgedale Reader, the town's local paper. A severe depression followed the loss of her own baby.

EadieB This assignment could unearth memories she has tried so hard to bury. Her investigation unravels a decades-old trail of dark secrets hiding behind Ridgedale's white picket fences. Told from the perspectives of three Ridgedale women, Kimberly McCreight's book shows us that the past eventually catches up to all of us. I found the characters to be well-developed and the plot was very interesting. 3y
EadieB All the twists culminate into a surprise ending. I have also read McCreight's "Reconstructing Amelia" and enjoyed that book too. If you like psychological suspense then you will enjoy this book. 3y

I really liked this book! It caught my attention right away and having the different povs and chat room discussions, newspaper clippings, really just brought the book to life. It was a little predictable and I wish it would of gave a little more at the end. But all in all the writing was beautiful and it kept me interested until the very end. 4.5/5 stars, definitely recommend!

Picture one of those big investigation boards with strings connecting different pieces of evidence-that‘s this book. Multiple POVs with seemingly no connections initially, but then the strings begin linking everything together. Enthralling.

Reading this book somewhat felt like a chore but I kept going because I felt strongly that the ending would be mind blowing. The book had a ton of characters that I felt was difficult to balance in the first half of the book but after some time it wasnt as hard to remember who was who. I didn't like a single character. I will say, though, that I do see how someone would love this and the ending was not at all expected which was rewarding.

So grateful that some restrictions have been lifted and I'm finally able to visit my husband in the hospital. ❤️🏥

“The moment was so beautiful and perfect....But it didn't feel like it belonged to me,not in any permanent sense. *Happy was my adopted country, not my native land*. I was still bracing to be expelled without warning.“
The main character has depression, and this * is particularly poignant.
It expresses a part of what anyone who suffers from symptoms of some mental illnesses feel. The inadequacy, sadness, and being overwhelmed.

Written in several different POV‘s, jumping back and forth in time; sometimes a recipe for disaster. Not this time. McCreight is now a must read for me.

TiredLibrarian I loved Reconstructing Amelia, and had a great book group discussion of it. I'll have to check out this one. 5y

I don‘t always like books from multiple perspectives but this one wasn‘t too hard to follow and she weaved it together nicely. And it‘s nice when I actually have a twist I didn‘t see coming. I like this cover too.
I read this for booksandlala‘s readathon, this one is for the word Where.

Finished this one up - boy what a ride! So many twists and turns - and all resolved in a pretty neat package. I especially liked that once the mystery was solved, the book didn't just end. I like when authors linger and allow us to gently come down from the big reveal instead of ending their books there.

Strong characters (a lot of them!!!), intriguing story, and well-written... My only complaint is that there were *almost* too many characters.

haileyerinn I love this author! I bought one of her books this weekend. I read The Outliers a while ago and just bought The Scattering 6y

Really enjoyed this book. I liked the variety of viewpoints used to bring the story together. There were some predictable elements that made you feel like you figured the whole thing out, but I definitely wasn‘t expecting the actual twist. Going to be adding more from this author to my #TBR!

MelissaSue81 She also has The Outliers trilogy (third book out next month!). It‘s YA and a bit different (some sci fi aspects, and some crazy conspiracy stuff).. but they are twisty turny fun. 7y
