Valor
Valor | John Gwynne
War has erupted in the Banished Lands as the race for power intensifies. Corban flees his homeland searching for peace, but he soon discovers that there is no haven in the west as the agents of Rhin and roaming bands of giants hound his every step. Veradis leaves the battleground and rushes to his King's side. But he has witnessed both combat and betrayal and his duty weighs heavily upon him. Maquin seeks only revenge, but pirate slavers and the brutal world of pit-fighting stand in his way. Nathair becomes embroiled in the wars of the west as Queen Rhin marches against King Owain. The need to find the cauldron of the giants drives him on. Sides are chosen and oaths will be fulfilled or broken in a land where hell has broken loose.

Shade and a good book. I‘ll leave the beach to the others. Fun to hear happy people sounds in the background.

Pickpick

There were several POVs and I loved to follow the plans of the evil ones. There were betrayals and twists.

I was afraid of something bad happening to characters I liked. But this had some lighter moments as well that made me laugh or smile.

There was so much action and I loved to follow all minor storylines. This book was hard to put down but at the same time I didn't want it to be finished. And now it is :(

Hit a bit of a slump. Not because the book is bad...November was/is just a slow reading month. Been playing a lot of vids & watching lots of anime.

If anything it's this book that is bringing me back to the pages. I'm really enjoying it and need to find out what's going on! 👍

So fascinated by the world that John Gwynne has created and the people he has populated it with.

If you're looking for a good character driven fantasy series you might wanna check out The Faithful and the Fallen.

(tagged book is the 2nd in the series as that's where I'm currently at).

TheAromaofBooks I'm always a sucker for a book with a good map! 5y

Someday, I‘ll take cash and just walk out of the used bookstore with the one book they had on hold for me. Today was not that day. 😂 In my defense: behold an #AkashicNoir, #NortonCriticalEdition, AND Penguin trade edition John Le Carre novel that I don‘t already own. How‘s a girl supposed to resist? #bookhaul

Continuing on with this series! I wasn't blown away by the first book, but it's certainly a solid story for a series. I'm interested to see how things develop, especially with my sweet cinnamon roll hero, Corban.

Gissy I am want to read this series someday! I think there is another series in the same world. I follow a YouTuber that she made complete review about this author's books Kitty G she is from London 7y
briski @Gissy yes, I watch her videos too! I think that may actually be how I heard about this series too! I don't know if we really have the exact same taste, but she definitely has read a ton of fantasy and her videos have expanded my fantasy radar! 7y
Gissy Yes! She is amazing! I wish I could read so fast as her! So many books...amazing books...so little time..😢 7y

2 of my babies. They still think that they're puppies when I'm reading and both try to get in my lap. Today is their 3rd birthday. No matter how old they get they are still my puppies and reading buddies.

The tree has been successfully put up, now to finish this 2nd book in a fantasy series about angels and demons and a really cool prophecy.

The #weather has been absolutely terrible today. Thunderstorms, hail, tornados touching down too close for comfort. But it makes for some pretty fantastic reading weather! #aprilbookshowers

Joanne1 Nothing better than reading when it's wild outside. And that weather of yours sure sounds wild! 8y
Celeste57 @Joanne1 You're absolutely right on both counts! Louisiana is getting hammered right now. 😳⛈ 8y

My #AprilTBR is outrageous. Doubtful that I'll get them all in this month, and I'll probably add in some more, but I'm excited about everything in my stack! #aprilbookshowers

RealLifeReading Jo Walton and Peter Beagle! Nice! 8y
Celeste57 @RealLifeReading This will by my first Jo Walton book! Third for Beagle. I loved The Last Unicorn, but Summerlong was a bit of a letdown. This is another unicorn book, though, so I have high hopes! 8y

Loving this Bookman my son had amongst his Christmas presents. A cross between Morph and a Cyberman 😉
