Eden Martelli is too busy fleeing the clutches of danger to realize shes running straight into the arms of a new love. Speeding north through rural Maine, Eden Martelli wonders how her life came to thison the run with her mute five-year-old son dozing fitfully in the passenger seat. When a breakdown leaves them stranded in Summer Harbor, Eden has no choice but to stay put through Christmas . . . even though they have no place to lay their heads. Beau Callahan is a habitual problem solverfor other people anyway. He left the sheriffs department to take over his familys Christmas tree farm, but hes still haunted by the loss of his parents and struggling to handle his first Christmas alone. When Eden shows up looking for work just as Beaus feisty aunt gets out of the hospital, Beau thinks hes finally caught a break. Eden is competent and dedicatedif a little guardedand a knockout to boot. But, as he soon finds out, she also comes with a boatload of secrets. Eden has been through too much to trust her heart to another man, but Beau is impossible to resist, and the feeling seems to be mutual. As Christmas Eve approaches, Edens past catches up to her. Beau will go to the ends of the earth to keep her safe. But whos going to protect his heart from a woman who cant seem to trust again?

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The story was intense at times, since the main character was on the run. But, the romance was really sweet, although it was also a bit complicated. I loved that we got to know the characters of the next books as well.

Yeah, the town is practically shut down this week with the temperatures so low. Normal this time of year is 25°-30°F, so it's a heated throw reading kinda day as we hunker down. Finished this one today, the author is coming to our library for a program this spring so I'm catching up on the books I haven't read. (Inspirational fiction romance) "What was wrong with her? She finally had the freedom she'd been seeking, and she was still miserable."

Laura317 Electric blanky and good book is always a smart plan. I‘ve not read this Denise Hunter book. Is it intense like some of her others? 6y
MaggieCarr @Laura317 I feel like this one was similar to Nicholas Sparks's Safe Haven in that the MC is on the run. Dirty cops, finding help in a new town where her car breaks down and her purse is stolen. So those parts are intense but the whole book isn't like that. Does that help? 6y
Laura317 I‘ve not read any Nicholas Spark, but yes, that gives me a good idea. Thanks! @MaggieCarr 6y

I ADORE this story. This whole series, really. This is a reread for me. I listened to the audio yesterday, now that I‘ve read all three books. I loved the story all over again and even more: I loved that I was able to pick out little details and clues about the next two installments that I missed the first time I read earlier this year. Setting ✔️ Characters ✔️ The audio is okay-not my favorite-but it was nice to listen while I did some driving.

hes7 Love this book, too! 😍 7y

OHH I loved this so much! So this isn't as much of a kissing book as the kissy-cover makes you think: it's actually kinda suspenseful! Especially in the last 1/3.

I want to pack up + move to this coastal Maine setting right now, please and thank you. The featured family owns a farm that sells Christmas trees + makes maple syrup. Be still my ❤️

As soon as I finished this, I put the 2nd + 3rd books on hold at my library. I wish I had them on hand!

mcipher Sounds good to me - I ❤️ Maine! 8y

I had to take a short break from reading earlier to move my chickens from their coop to a warmer barn while the ❄️❄️❄️ weather is here. (Yay for a tiny bit of snow in NC!)

I want to introduce Henrietta 🐓 who was named for Henrietta, Virginia: the setting in The Raven Cycle Series by Maggie Stiefvater. She's a sweet girl.

Now that my chickens are all tucked in, I can go back to reading, my blanket, and the heater that is pointed at my feet.✌🏻

Good morning Litsy friends! #currentlyreading ☕️

I decided to go with a snowy-ish book this morning because snow may actually be possible where I am in NC. I'm so excited at the possibility that I matched my coffee mug to my book. Whoop! 💃🏻❄️

Laura317 I really like Denise Hunter books. I've not seen this one before. I look forward to your review. 8y
