The 90s, a cool music store and a teen girl vigilante fight club! This was a fun read!
The 90s, a cool music store and a teen girl vigilante fight club! This was a fun read!
I gotta step up my reading game! Last month was slow for reading. Only 1 book and a couple of comic books. Anyway issue 2 of The House of Lost Horizons is here and the mystery continues! This limited series is getting good!
This book took me forever to get through!! It's about a young British woman who moves to Japan and goes missing. A very interesting true time story with lots of history and other info about related things!
Issue 2! I'm really enjoying this comic! The vampire biker gang Hounds of Love continues their search for that precious and delicious witchblood and now Yonna realizes she must do something to stop them!
First issue of The House of Lost Horizons was so good! This a just a good old fashioned muder mystery and I'm here for it! It's a limited series so only 5 issues and I can't wait to see what happens next!
( 👍) Finally finished this one! We had 4 weeks of visitors so it was harder to find time to read. This is such a heartbreakingly beautiful story. I saw the movie several years back and absolutely loved it so I knew I wanted to read the book. It didn't disappoint.
Got quite a few graphic novels for Mother's Day. This one tops the gross charts!! 🤢🤮🤣
This was a fun little story of a girl who bought some chocolate and with each bite she went back to a challenging time in her past that led to a eating disorder and feeling ashamed of her body. But also with each trip to the past she is trying to teach her younger (and present day) self to find her worth and learn to love herself again.
Just finished this one. It was a fun read but the story dragged out a little long and the ending wrapped up a little quick. I enjoyed though! Harper was struck by lightning which gave her the power to be near a dead body and know exactly how they died. A family hires her to find out what happened to their abducted child. She accidentally finds the body and finds out how she died but now to find out who killed her???
Issue #5! I'm considering dropping this one. I love the art and the story concept is cool I think....but I'm not really following the story line very well. Idk what the hell is going on 🤣
Witchblood is a brand new comic about Yonna a young witch riding across the Southwest on her motorcycle, Rambling Rose and her crow Bhu. Yonna stumbles upon a Hex Hunter and also ends up being trailed by a band of biker vampires who are after her delicious witchblood. Loved this one can't wait for issue 2!
I had a feeling I'd like this one a lot so I went ahead and got all 3. It didn't disappoint! Daphne moves to LA for her boyfriend and college, gets dumped and literally stubbles upon the old but beautiful Rycroft Manor (which happens to be filled with ghosts) and moves in. With ghosts for roommates who knows what can happen! Fun story and great art! Loved this series!
The Little House books will always be a favorite of mine no matter how old I get! Just finished this fun biography of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Although the Little House books are very much autobiographical this book gave a little more insight to her life, including more of her daughter Rose, later years of married life and how she came to start writing.
This was an interesting and I guess informative book if you're into that kinda thing 😵 lol This book talks of different cannibals from all over the world, where and how to get the meat, what it tastes like, how to harvest the meat and most importantly recipes ranging from sauces, snacks, side dishes, main courses and dessert! Definitely not for the faint of heart but a fun read for those who love a little weird and macabre! 🥩🤷🏻♀️🍽️
I was so excited to start this. However, I was hugely disappointed. I didn't realize it was a short story book which is fine but not my favorite already. The stories started out ok but then got more and more off the wall and confusing and quite frankly stupid. The last 2 stories were especially awful. I didn't even finish the last one it was so horrible. This is the first time in a very long time I finished a book and said Thank God that's over.
Who doesn't love Sabrina!? This was a fun storyline and the art and colors were so good!! Can't wait for Vol 2 in 2 days!!
This story has Grimm Fairy Tale/ Sleepy Hollow vibes. It started out a bit slow for me but the more I read the more interested I became. All in all it was a fun little read. Would have been great by a fire on a cold, dark, stormy night!!
Well if this wasn't the cutest! Snapdragon is a middle school kid living in a trailer park with her mom and dog Good Boy. Snap doesn't feel like she quite fits in anywhere until she makes a couple of new friends and discovers some new talents. I just loved this little story!!

I bought this book at the dollar store because it had a cute cover. I had no idea what it was about. 🙊 I'm so glad I did! What a sweet fun story about a summer some high school seniors met and formed an unlikely friend group. They decided to try and make a difference and they did! I would have totally loved this book when I was a teen!!
I've seen a few reviews online saying this was boring and generic but I thought it was a fun read personally. 4 students are given a full ride to Blackwood college a college that has a secret school within that studies the occult and magic. From the very first night the students realize something bad is happening at Blackwood and something is seriously wrong with the dean...curses, spells and gore! Oh my! And of course I'm a sucker for the artwork
This horror novel about the Donner Party was such a fun read! Dark and scary and interesting on a historical level all at the same time!
Issue 3 came! Things are getting weird!! 😀
I'm doing a diversify your reading challenge and March is Classics. I already had this one laying around and hadn't read it so this was it. This is a deeply thought provoking book. A bit depressive and in a way sweet. Wasn't my favourite book but I can see the appeal. Glad I've read it at least once!

Creepy, gory and fun! I enjoyed this one a lot and I'm definitely getting Vol 2!!

I found a bunch of books in this series at the thrift store. I'm a sucker for a series...anyway I've been slowly reading them every now and then. These books are about Father Tim Kavanagh who lives in beautiful small town Mitford and the stories of small town living and friendships. They are both funny and heartwarming. They really make you feel like you know and care about all the characters. Can't wait to see what they're up to next!
This was a fun and cute little graphic novel. Nova is a witch and her long lost friend Tam shows back up needing help honing her werewolf powers and taking down an evil cult and a demon!

Who remembers Miss Nelson!? Decided to take a trip down memory lane with these classics this cold afternoon. Miss Nelson's class is out of control until the scary Miss Swamp steps in and takes over the class for a bit. Miss Nelson comes back to a much better behaved classroom! Such fun books!

Started this bad boy last Friday and I'm almost finished but not quite. I gotta say it's not my favorite of his. Sometimes King can be too much King and to me that's the case here. He could have cut this book much shorter by taking out some of the unnecessary side stories. But that's King lol I did like it but it's only OK to me. 🤷🏻♀️ I have also read Regulators which is a sister/twin to this one. I felt the same about it too lol

Afternoon pick me up. Vol 2 of Spell on Wheels finds the 3 witches on the road to track down a mysterious entity that keeps possessing one of them. They run into some strange people and some strange creatures along the way. This has been a fun series so far!
I hate saying this book was so-so but it kinda was. I enjoyed the story but it felt empty. There was none of the emotion I expected to feel. It read like a screenplay and not like a novel, very sterile and lacking in intimacy. Then at the end of the book it says the author originally wrote as a screenplay and then reworked it into a novel. Makes sense! Honestly it would make a great movie I think but as a novel it fell short to me.
The Vision has had a memory swipe in order to keep him from being destroyed. He along with his new synthezoid wife Virginia and their synthezoid children Vin and Viv try to settle down in a suburban neighborhood. Their ultimate goal is to fit in and be normal but that's proving easier said than done.... It's dark, it's sad, it's sweet, it's action packed. I really enjoyed this collection a lot!

Home Sick Pilots only has 2 issues out so I'm jumping in on the ground floor with this one! A 90s teen punk band gets themselves in a scary situation with a long abandoned house that seems to eat people....

The Miss Julia books are always such a fun read! Miss Julia is a feisty, old, proper, Southern women who always seems to find herself in the most bizarre situations. This particular story sees Miss Julia on the road to Palm Beach Florida to hunt down some jewelry thieves with her young ward Lloyd, a young women with a questionable reputation and a detective that much to her chagrin can't seem to stay on the wagon. Hilarity ensues!!

My afternoon read. I grew up loving The Dark Crystal and even watched the short lived series on Netflix (hate they canceled it) so I was looking forward to this graphic novel. The story takes place 100 years after Jen and Kira healed the crystal. After years of peaceful living they discover their planet Thra is sick and an alarming visitor shows up asking for help and threatening their existence.

I started and finished this book this weekend. It's a quick and entertaining read. I did find some of his poems and bumper stickers a bit eye rolling. He seems like a cool guy but his non stop existentialism is a little over the top for my taste. If you're a fan of MM I'd say give it a read though, it's got some fun stories about his life in it.

3 witches on a road trip to retrieve stolen magical items and catch the theif that stole them, what's not to love!? This was a fun graphic novel and I went ahead and ordered Vol2 because I couldn't wait to see their next adventure!

I've been wanting to get my hands on this book for awhile and found a copy last weekend! This is an adorable graphic novel about a romance between a vampire and a werewolf. Not necessarily a story with a plot but little vignettes of their life together. So cute! And the book is just gorgeous!

This was a fun nostalgic reread about Cathy who lives with her Grandmother but Grandmother gets ill and must stay at the hospital so Cathy must stay with relatives who just happen to be on their way to Skye for holiday. Cathy's Grandmother gives her a red traveling case full of mysterious packages Cathy must open at the right times to discover a surprise at the end.

This was a fun read about a 12 year old boys summer with his friends and his fun but slightly weird Uncle. They have lots of adventures and even discover a long time family secret!

This one was fun! If you're into weird and gruesome this is for you! A retired serial killer is driving around the back roads of Louisiana with his girlfriend (who happens to be a blowup doll) when a crazy billionaire kidnaps her and forces him to kill once (or twice) again. There was a character that made me scratch my head a bit but all in all I really liked this one.

This was my second book of the year. My daughter and I watched the Hulu mini series and loved it so she bought me the book for my birthday. I have to say even though I enjoyed this book it was one of those rare times when I liked the movie better! Maybe because I saw it first? 🤷🏻♀️ Either way both versions are enjoyable!

New to Litsy! 🙋🏻♀️ I started the new year finishing the last book of the Dark Witch trilogy. While it was a fun series and I enjoyed it over all, Blood Magick (#3) was a bit repetitive and predictable. I always enjoy Nora Roberts trilogies, especially ones set in Ireland. My absolute favorite by her though is a stand alone called Midnight Bayou.
