It‘s been a busy week and I have been entrenched in reading manuscripts and client work. So here is another book I snagged at the book store this last week that I have no time to read LOL 😂 It looks super awesome though and is really beautiful 😍

I have at least a dozen manuscripts in my queue to read but I couldn‘t resist bringing this one home from the book store - it‘s sci-fi but has a structure like House Of Leaves and is an absolute door stopper. Adding to my TBR pile in hopes that I will read it before I die 😂
I binged this audiobook over the weekend - light, fun, escapist, and just what I needed. I‘m always a sucker for a good Victorian mystery ❤️🎩
Saturday turned into a very busy day and I didn‘t get a chance to pop into Litsy much. This is the last book I picked up at the used book shop on Thursday. It is super gorgeous 🖤
This is one of the books I nabbed at the used book shop yesterday - it looks plain but is full of colour prints and illustrations. It is absolutely gorgeous and covers more than colonial Europe - it is a world history of the occult, witchcraft, and magic. I can see myself spending hours and hours with this book 🖤
Over the pandemic, I started to build a collection of quirky and interesting dictionaries. Today I treated myself to a pit stop at a local used book shop and scored this one. The clincher for me is the line “including the fallen angels” 😊😇😬 I will post another book I scored tomorrow
Loved this audiobook! I just binged it over the last two days. It was compulsively listenable, great narration, a twisty gay whodunnit in a unique setting with unique circumstances, a fabulous main character and I hope this turns into a series 💜💜💜
In an effort to get back in the Litsy habit, I thought I would share that my client Danna Staaf received a starred review at the end of October in School Library Journal for her wonderful book The Lady and the Octopus. It‘s a great book if you are interested in marine biology or octopi 🐙
I‘ve been shit about posting(it‘s been 2 years since I‘ve been in Litsy-eep😱) so I am going to try to do better. My most recent listen was WE SPREAD by Iain Reid. I love his sparse and sharp prose. While this novel has speculative, gothic, and thriller elements it is also a highly literary exploration of aging and dementia. Not a feel good read and I‘m still on the fence about the ending, but definitely worth reading. #readcanadian #gothic
Listened to this today and LOVED it - awesomely feminist and gave me fresh food for thought. Jess Zimmerman tackles some hard topics regarding women and women‘s rights within the framework of mythology and monsters.
And the last of the Kendra Donovan series by Julie McElwain - Powered through this entire 5 book series very quickly, loved the characters, their relationship development, the mysteries, and the understated romance. This is a character driven series and each instalment has a strong plot. Loved them all ❤️
This series is so much fun. Also finished this one very quickly! 💕
Another fun instalment in the Kendra Donovan series. Couldn‘t stop listening 💕
I loved the first book so much, I carried on and binged the second. Just as fun -I am hooked and have started book 3.
I powered through this audiobook! Pure escapist fun! Love the main character, Kendra Donovan. Perfect for fans of Diana Gabaldon and Deanna Raybourn.
I finished this one while #audiopuzzling. Set in 1909 Barcelona, it is as a diverting and interesting espionage sort of mystery. Very enjoyable.
It‘s been a hectic month so I‘m going to catch up on posting my audiobook listens. This was a decent listen with some great points for writers. I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if I had read more of Vonnegut‘s work.
Spent the afternoon #audiopuzzling - immersed in a mystery set in 1909 Barcelona with a wonderful bookish puzzle
This book is weird and hilarious. Hilariously weird. Weirdly hilarious. Just read it. Highly recommended
Loved this book! Compulsively listenable. A portal horror with an awesome quirky main character, inventive settings for the real world and the world beyond the portal, and vivid emotional storytelling. Highly recommended
Since TV gives me headaches, I decided to listen to the audiobook instead of watch the Netflix show. So glad I did because this was really good! Excellent story, believable and vibrant characters, made me wish I was better at playing chess but I am a terrible strategist. Highly recommended.
This one was entertaining enough but is basically a YA slasher story. I was hoping for paranormal evil clowns but they weren‘t. Plot heavy and fast paced. Wished for more character development as there could have been a deeper emotional core, but still a decent listen.
This audiobook was more than an audiobook - it was a full on theatrical production. A weird story but I really enjoyed it especially how the author ended up weaving the storylines of the various characters all together. Definitely worth a listen.
I fell behind sharing my recent audiobook listend so there will a flurry after this one. I wasn‘t sure what to expect from this one as I‘ve not read this author before, but I loved it! It‘s like a b-movie monster flick fused with a stranded on a desert isle survival story with a time warp twist. Compelling characters and fabulous world building. Highly recommended.
I found this entertaining. Didn‘t rock my world but I was interested to see how it would all turn out. Solid character building, some good tension. TW: bullying scenes that got under my skin.
Stellar narration by the spectacular Bahni Turpin 💕#YAbooks #audiobooks #thriller
I‘ve had this audiobook sitting in my Kobo app for a while and finally decided to give it a go. I started listening on the first and just finished. The writing is lush, the story is good, and I enjoyed the characters. I found myself getting a bit impatient with some of the bad choices, but overall really enjoyable and I will likely give the sequel, Everlasting Rose, a listen
I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.

Rounding out the day with ice cream and a lighter fiction read called The Dark Library, which is labeled as absurdist fiction and I am enjoying it very much. #goodbooks #reading #lovebooksaboutbooks
Finished reading Dark Archives and it was an excellent fusion of books, history, and science. While the book is about anthropodermic bibliopegy, it does not glamourize or fetishize books bound in human skin. The author takes a close look at how these books came to be, what we can learn from them, and the ethics involved with objects made out of humans. It was highly readable and I highly recommend it. #goodbooks #reading #lovebooksaboutbooks
